The apartment is on the lower level of a home built in 2014, and is approximately 2000 sq ft. open-plan with its own entrance. It is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit with a queen and twin bed in each bedroom. There are also 2 futons in the living area for additional guests, if needed. Up to two pets are permitted. Smoking is not permitted.
The unit is equipped with free wi-fi and a large format television with DirecTV. The kitchen has a breakfast counter with a drip coffee maker, a gas range, a dishwasher and a microwave. There are laundry facilities in the utility room.
The unit is located in a wooded area close to Lake Michigan. There are two areas of beach access within walking distance (about a quarter of a mile each, north and south of Stone Bridge Trail.)
The home's patio includes an outdoor fireplace and a grill that are available to guests. There is a pergola over the patio with lights strung and on a dusk to 2am period.
The wooded acreage adjoins a conservatory and has many walking trails available.

This clean, spacious, comfortable lodging had walkable access to a great stretch of Lake Michigan’s beach. The neighborhood was surrounded by beautiful woods. Our stay was relaxing and memorable.

Perfect Vacation

Great stay!

The location of this place was perfect because we had friends staying 1/2 mile away, but I would stay here again even if we didn't. Very close to the lake and plenty of nearby conveniences. The living area is very large and clean and the owners are very friendly.

This apartment was comfortable and spacious. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make dinner our 1st night and breakfast the following mornings. 1/2 mile walk (or drive) to Lake MI beaches. Great location for day trips to nearby towns. The only negative was that he asked us if we wanted a fire on the patio to let him know and he'd set it up for us. Our last day I messaged the Host about 3p in the afternoon saying we wanted a fire that evening. I never received a response. Otherwise, location, comfort and value was great.. patio , we dod

This was our second year staying here and we had a wonderful time. The space is perfectly clean and has everything you could need. It is very close to a local beach, and a short drive to Saugatuck. We will se you next year!

Rental by the Lake

Very nice Apartment Style rental. Close proximity to the Lake Michigan beach access. Short drive to park with lots of parking and miles of beach. Rooms spotless, lots of space to entertain friends and family. Only drawback was stairs to get down to room, no walkout from basement. All the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. Great Place to Stay - Large Open Space

Our stay was great. Frank and John the home owners were very accomodating. The unit is under their home with the only access being in the upstaris entryway, which was never breached. The space was amazing with enough space to sleep 10 comfortably with two bathrooms. The house was very close to two public beaches and in the middle of two vacation towns. Our only complaint was some items were not as clean as they could have been like the coffee maker, bathroom fan, and we noticed some dust in the corners. Soft bed sleepers be advised, the beds were very firm, which isn't a complaint, but an issue of personal preference. The moral of the story here is this was a significantly more enjoyable stay than we would have ever had in a hotel. We'd come back again if we were to stay in the area again.

Great place to stay

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and plan to stay again. Always clean and the hosts are very responsive. Close to wineries and Saugatuck but tucked away so you are not in the middle of everything. Perfect set up for 2 couples traveling together but would also work well for a large family.

Family Girls weekend

Wonderful hosts

The unit could have been cleaner, the coffee maker had old coffee grounds still in it & when I wiped a drip of water off the floor, the napkin was very dirty. However they had vacuums, floor mops, & plenty of cleaning products available so I was able to clean up. I really loved that the cleaning products were available. Everyone's idea of clean is different & as long as I can clean to my liking, I'm good. The hosts were very kind & accommodating. The location was great, only a short drive to Saugatuck & Holland, & the towns were so dog friendly- we were able to bring our dog with us pretty much everywhere we went.

Perfect place

This very quiet and relaxing apartment was perfect for what we needed. I could cook because every appliance was available. Much larger than I expected. Easy access to South Haven or Saugatuck. Our hosts were so very nice and we couldn’t have been happier. We can’t wait to return.

A very peaceful property.

I was able to walk my dog every morning (despite the rain, because it was so heavily wooded)! Across the road, I could enjoy views of Lake Michigan. There were two Lake Michigan accesses, but unfortunately not pet-friendly. (Not the host’s fault). We enjoyed the Sauganuck Dunes instead with our pup.

John and I met in 2001, both having survived previous long-term partners. John had served decades as a fire fighter in the Chicago suburbs. I had worked for decades for a Chicago corporation.
We enjoyed the 2-hour proximity of a Michigan campground and parked our motor coach there for many years, while we got to know the area.

Why they chose this property

We purchased and built our home on a wooded lot in 2014. The lot backs to a wooded conservatory. The apartment was created during the construction with the intention to provide vacation rentals, and is separately zoned for heating and air conditioning.
Local wildlife include deer, black, brown and fox squirrels, wild turkeys, piliated wood peckers, and a wide variety of other birds.
Guests are welcome to use the screened-in porch, patio and outdoor fireplace and grill at the back of the house.
