We had a great time with our family. Nice big diningtable inside as well as outside. There was an abundant amount of kitchenware ,nice big kitchensThe check in was ontime and friendly, with a lot of information
The house couldn't have been better for our group of family and friends! We enjoyed the town of Sable sur Sarthe, went for cruises, and found that so many interesting items were only one to one and a half hour away. It was also enjoyable just to wander the grounds and explore with a glass of wine in hand. The meals prepared by Dominique were wonderful, and I would highly reccomend them to other guests. Make sure that you bring home enough wines from your wine tastings to accompany the excellent meals.
This is a perfect and rustic staging point for the exploration of the Loire Valley. 10/10 for our family

Its from 1877
The Mansion dates from 1877 and is literally packed with charm and history from that time. Personally, I would think that the always 5–10 extra pieces of furniture (especially chairs) that are in each room should be thrown out (stored elsewhere). The same applies to the cabinets that are FILLED with porcelain. A paintbrush on the exterior shutters in particular would also greatly enhance the impression. We had a challenge with the electricity going out several times a day and the pool temperature being set very low, so it was simply too cold. (managed to get it up to 30 degrees last night.)
We had a fantastic stay. The facilities and equipment was all there to use, and for a large party of 19 people it suited us brilliantly. We could all dine inside when the weather was bad as well as plenty of room outside.
The artefacts and art in rooms is very quirky, but everyone eventually got used to it. But for animal lovers it was hard to see all the hunting trophies of beasts from around the globe. Horns, skeleton, skulls, taxidermy (even full size elephant tusks). All very fascinating but also challenging. It gave us plenty to talk about, with new discoveries every day. The place is a living museum to a bygone era. Once you reconcile it as such the place is an exceptional and tranquil place to spend time with family and friends. It has a fantastic pool area and acres of woodland to explore and lawns to play on. It’s hard to fault it but comes with a health warning that some may find it a bit too much!

A lovely week in rural France
We were 20 spending one week at the property in late August. The property was easy to find and booking in with Noemi was pleasant and easy (requires a French speaker!) The property was lovely and the highlight was the pool area.
It is worth knowing there is a family uncle who lives on site so you are not entirely. Isolated (he supports with bins and is generally very useful).
The property was not quite as expected - the rooms contained an enormous number of artefacts which contained a lot of dust which caused some issues for those in our group with asthma. A number of the toilets did not work and tue main catering oven did not work which proved difficult in a group with 20 to feed. The plumbing is not ideal (this is to be expected) and so we had some issues with the drains and dishwasher.
Overall the property was wonderful however and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thank you very much!
We were a group of 3 families (6 adults, 7 children) and had a wonderful week at La Haute Porte last summer - it's the sort of place you could stay for weeks and only need to go out as you've run out of supplies, the grounds are huge and there are so many onsite activities to do. The house itself is enormous with several indoor sitting rooms and a large indoor dining area that we used quite a lot due to the rainy weather that week. The pool area is absolutely superb, surrounded by a variety of fruit trees and is very safe for children as it has an electric cover and is gated and locked with a key. There is also a basement laundry area that came in very handy.
The sleeping accommodation is plentiful mainly on the first floor with seven bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms - perfect for us as 3 families. There is also a second floor with 2 further (adjoining) bedrooms, one with a sink in it but there is no toilet up there.
The house is filled with memories from past trips around the world, almost like museum exhibits, none of us had ever stayed anywhere like it before and the children have made lifelong memories! We want to particularly thank Noemie and her uncle who really looked after us and made us all so welcome - extremely helpful but with no intrusion at all.
A refaire

The house was spacious and well appointed. The pool is fabulous and the grounds are quiet and forested. The house was full of hunting trophies which isn't everyone's cup of tea, that said, we had a great stay.
A beautiful building set in acres of woodland. A quiet and relaxing place to stay.
The Chateau is a wonderful old property just as a chateau should be. A little faded from its glory days but welcoming and comfortable. Well appointed with everything we needed and a superb new swimming pool for days at home with a cold beer.
We all really enjoyed our holiday.
Thanks

House full of character, lovely rural location
House full of character, lovely rural location, very secluded, great value for money and facilities all good. A pool would be nice :-)
Would definitely stay there again, only slight criticism is the track to get to the property is quite difficult to negotiate in a sports car
