Wonderful short break in the Forest on the green, shared with the grazing sheep and chickens! Property superb and all as listed with the owner extremely personable and attentive and could not do enough for us when we arrived late on a Sunday looking for dinner! We would have no hesitation in recommending this cosy cottage as a great base for your adventures in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley and we look forward to returning again one day.

Relaxing stay

Lovely cosy cottage in a great location. Central to be able to visit so many other locations. Clean and comfortable. With everything you will ever need for a perfect stay. Was great to wake up with the sheep and chicken roaming freely on the common right outside the cottage gates. Grandchildren loved to see them. Jane and Malcolm couldnโ€™t do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you both for the fresh blue eggs. Will definitely go back. Thank you both. .

Comfortable cottage in ideal dog friendly location

Delightful cottage with very welcoming hosts and everything we needed. Ruby our Bernese Mountain dog loved her walks straight from the cottage and the secure garden at the front meant she could watch the sheep and chickens without fear of mischief.

Comfortable delightful cottage in fantastic location

The most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed at! Log burner is fantastic but very warm heating too so with the comfy lounge furniture it was hard not to relax! Location is perfect for walking with the forest literally 50metres away. Cottage very well equipped. The lovely owner Jane is next door if needed but left us alone to relax throughout the stay.We will be back for Christmas next year hopefully! Thankyou Jane, fabulous break from start to finish!

One of the very best properties we have stayed in.Jane and Malcolm, owners, were so lovely, couldnโ€™t do enough for us, but left us to our own devices, as well. So homely, warm, comfortable, clean, one of the best ever places , allow dogs, which is a bonus, very reasonable rates, too, comfy beds, kitchen well equipped, very peaceful, lovely views, we will definitely book again, wonderful.

Wonderful, cosy and homely cottage

3 of us (adults) and 2 dogs stayed for 7 nights at the cottage. The location is perfect for people like us, who enjoy walking as you can wander straight into the forest, or take a short drive to many more walks. The cottage itself had such a relaxed atmosphere and felt like a home from home (helped by the amazing raspberry crumble made from the raspberries in the back garden - what an amazing treat!) The host, Jane was lovely and available should we have needed anything. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting in the future.

Lovely clean cottage

We stayed at the cottage with our children 11,9 and 3 months. It was our first time away with our baby. The cottage was beautifully clean which is just what you want when travelling with a small baby. Jane had put up the travel cot and taken great care to get everything ready for us. The boys loved seeing the chicken and sheep just outside the cottage door. They named the sheep! We would definitely stay again when visiting the gorgeous Forest of Dean.

Really Lovely Cottage!

We had a great long weekend at Oakdene Cottage, Jane the owner was there to greet us and show us around, she was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage itself was lovely, everything was sparkly clean, the beds were really comfy and the bedding was crisp and smelt really fresh and clean. It had everything we needed and having the log burner going in the chilly evenings made it so cosy! It's set in a beautiful and peaceful location right on the edge of the Forest Of Dean. It's a shame we couldn't stay longer as it's in a beautiful area with lots to see and do. Would definitely recommend!

Super relaxing long weekend at this authentic little cottage

We had a wonderful time at Jane's cottage, all we needed to relax and unwind. Very quiet location, with sheep and chickens just outside the doorstep. Easy access and plenty of parking space. The back garden is great if the weather helps. The cottage is well equipped with all the essentials, the forest 1 minute walk away and Jane and Malcolm very friendly and communicative. Dear Jane, many thanks for the eggs and the rhubarb cake. They made a good stay even better. We hope to return soon.

Wonderful cottage in a peaceful and quiet environment

We had a fantastic time in this cottage. The sheep and chickens are walking freely around the cottage, but can't access the garden/cottage through the gate. This makes it perfect for small children and pets as well, because they can't just run into the low-traffic street. Everything needed was provided, even bed linen, towels, some cleaning supplies etc. Wifi was fully operational and stable (important for the children) and Netflix, Youtube and Twitch could be connected to the smart-tv. USB-ports are in the wall of the living room as well, to charge any device. The kitchen provides an oven as well as microwave, a refrigerator and freezer and of course a toaster and kettle. The bathroom has a bath and a seperate shower and the bedrooms are large. The cottage is close to the forest as well, so perfect for a walk. The owners were very kind and welcoming and showed us around when arriving. They gave some sightseeing tips in the neighbourhood and since they are living in the house next to this cottage, so it's easy to get in contact when anything is needed. Thank you very much, Jane and Malcolm, you were part of making our holiday a wonderful experience!
