Was double booked when I got there
First off I want to make it clear the staff at the Monaco are first class top notch and did everything that they could to help us out. I would book directly through them and not a third party site as what happened to me was unacceptable.
I booked through homeaway in mid November and was told I am all set by the owner of the unit. Fast forward to our trip in February. I arrive and my name is not on the list. I am glad I printed out all the confirmation as it proved I had reserved the condo. Well the condo had already been booked and there was zero condos open. I was told it was booked in December. I got on the phone with the owner and he told me I should be in that room and confirmed I did book with him. Well long story short I was told he never called in my reservation to hold it for me and the Monaco booked it with someone else. Monaco does not manage homeaway so it's up to the owner to call in any bookings not managed by Monaco.
So there I sit on the sidewalk for 4 hours in a different country as the Monaco is scrambling trying to figure out a place to house me. They eventually find me a place on the complete end of the town (away from the rest of my party) for half the week then got me a condo back at Monaco for the other half. So I got to enjoy paying for cab fare, packing and unpacking my luggage and groceries an extra time, and go through checking out etc. etc. just to get to where my other group was. It was a big hassle and no way to spend a vacation.
The owner never called me back or to check if I was fine (as it was his mistake I was sitting on the curb). No offer at a partial reimbursement or anything. Again the Monaco staff was A+ just stay away from this particular unit as you may be homeless in a different country.
