If a memorable vacation is on your wish list, check out this charming modern cottage nestled in the woods of Idlewood Beach, a private beach association located just south of Tunnel Park. The 3-bedroom home is just a 4 minute walk to a private Lake Michigan Beach--think sandcastles during the day, sunsets in the evening with Big Red in the distance.
Completely renovated in the last few years, the second story has hardwood floors and 2 bedrooms and a bath. Bedroom #1 has a king bed, as does bedroom #2. Downstairs engineered-wood floor, including bedroom #3, which has two bunk beds--one with a trundle. In addition there is a family room and bathroom.
Full baths on each floor, one with shower, the other with shower/tub. Modern kitchen with high end appliances to make a gourmet meal to eat in the nearby cozy dining area--or out on the deck if you desire. Living room, family room, and a large deck with gas grill, table and chairs, and sitting area. Central air conditioning, TVs on both floors and wireless internet and cable TV provided, as are washer and dryer, linens and bath and beach towels. Sorry, no pets.
In addition to the home's peaceful setting, the Idlewood Beach Association maintains a grassy park--the Commons-- that has playground equipment for kids, a pavilion plus picnic tables and a large grassy area for outdoor games. Ottawa Beach State Park, Tunnel Park, Mount Pisgah, bike paths, restaurants, stores and downtown Holland are only minutes away.

The home was very well stocked and was very comfortable!
A relaxing, quiet getaway in Holland!
Would just recommend removing hot tub under listing. Otherwise was fantastic place!

Jamie, where did you see we have a hot tub listed? We didn’t say that. Will double check to find where you saw it, but glad the rest was good for you. You were great guests and we would welcome you back again any time.
The hosts were very responsive and even provided a pack and play for our grandson. The info provided was accurate, and the house and neighborhood were very nice. The weather was even great. We went to the beach every day and had breakfast one morning at the wonderful Dutch bakery down the street. Thanks!

My family and I had a fantastic time at La Casita. Marc and Patty were amazing hosts who were extremely hospitable and responsive. When we arrived there were fresh brownies and chocolate waiting for us. The location is magnificent with only a short stroll to some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. I hope to make La Casita and Holland, MI an annual family tradition.
Great location near the lake. Secluded in a subdivision. Kitchen is stocked with every appliance imaginable. Property Manager is very responsive and extremely friendly. 100*/10

We loved staying at “La Casita”! It was perfect for our family. Our young boys loved staying in the bunk room. The beds were comfy and the house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The house is located in a quiet, wooded neighborhood. The beach is a short, eight minute walk (including taking the stairs down to the sand). Marc and Patty were great hosts— very helpful but also respectful of privacy! We would love to come back next summer and stay here again!
La Casita was fantastic for our family gathering. There is plenty of space, and it was very comfortable with all the needed amenities. We spent most of our time at the beach. local trails, and outside on the gorgeous patio. The beach is a close walk and absolutely pristine. We boogie boarded with the boards in the garage (there are also bikes and other equipment) . The house itself is nestled in a wooded area with a lush tree canopy in a quiet and very peaceful location
We had a great time staying at this property over Memorial Day Weekend! The house itself was clean and it was stocked with an initial supply of essentials (paper towels, TP, coffee, gas for the grill, etc.), as well as multiple beach towels, folding chairs, and games. The location was fantastic as we were only a 5-minute walk from the private beach access area. The neighborhood was very peaceful and we enjoyed going on walks in the area. The only minor thing was there was no hot tub like the listing said, but not a big deal. Overall, we loved staying on this property and we had a very nice weekend! We would definitely stay here again.
Great location, outstanding communication with owners
This place was perfect for our family of 6 (three generations) for a memorial weekend getaway. It had everything we needed and the location was amazing - short walk to a beautiful uncrowded beach and quick access to bike paths to go get lunch and ice cream in town. The neighborhood was super cute, quiet, and friendly with beautiful mature trees. The house has a very nice large shady deck. Best of all was the easy communication with the owners who live next door. We didn’t have any problems with the place but was great to know they were nearby if needed and they were prompt to answer questions about the area and give advice for places to go. Would highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The bedrooms, dining and kitchen area are spacious for a family to spread out in. I believe one of the main bedrooms has a California King bed which was really helpful for a family with kids. We love to cook and found the kitchen well equipped for what we needed. The front porch is perfect for relaxing and the beach is a short 5 minute walk. Beach towels and several beach items are available for use as well. The area (neighborhood) is quiet and pleasant for walks in the evening. Marc and Patricia made everything such an easy process and were available with any questions we had. We would absolutely stay at the house again.
The neighborhood is absolutely adorable. This house is set back in the woods at the edge of the neighborhood so it felt very private and was a short walk to the beach. Most days we were the only people on the beach which was amazing. The house has EVERYTHING you would need in terms of water toys, wagon, beach tent, chairs, sand toys, etc. The space was great with a TV room and kids room on the lower level and two larger bedrooms, kitchen, dining and living room on the top level. The kitchen was outfitted with everything you might need. The deck was great with shade from the trees, seating and eating area and a great grill. The owners were right next door and were available for anything we needed. We had never been to Lake Michigan and were so impressed with the beach (like a real beach - lived in Florida for 7 years) with clear (but cold) water. Holland offered lots of other great amenities like a cute downtown with shops and restaurants, Dutch village for kids with rides and a petting zoo, and a beautiful water side park in the downtown area all just a 10-15 minute drive away. We will definitely return to the area.
This house was perfect size for our families. The owners were awesome as well and quick to respond to any questions. Location is convenient with just a short walk to the beach, which is semi-private so it feels like it's your own little get away! Would definitely stay again!!
We loved the beauty of this area. It’s a quiet getaway close to a private beach. Downtown Holland is adorable, and the food is delicious..
Patty and Marc are attentive and respectful and made sure we had everything we needed.
The neighborhood was amazing. We went to the beach many days and we’re mostly the only people there. It is super shallow for a long way out. It is a very short walk and they have everything you need - kayak, bikes, beach toys, umbrella, stroller wagon, etc. The kids loved the small playground in the neighborhood and also the park playground a short walk away. The house was in the woods and shaded. So much time was spent out on the deck and we saw lots of wildlife. The neighbors were really nice and one taught my husband to paddle board. Lovely trip all around!
We didn’t know what to expect when we decided to vacation in Michigan, but our stay did not disappoint! The cute home was nestled in a quiet neighborhood with private beach access, which was wonderful with my small kids. The house was exactly what we needed and the deck was great for enjoying dinner or sitting around talking after nightfall. Hosts were very accommodating and answered any questions we had.

About the host
Hosted by Marc & Patricia Baer
Marc and Patricia have lived in Holland for 38 years, and in Idlewood Beach Association for the past 15 years--the cottage is next door to their home. Marc is a retired college professor, while Patricia has a private counseling and life coaching practice. They have three married children and seven grandchildren. Meeting at the University of Iowa, they've lived in London, Ohio and Maryland, before moving to Michigan.
Why they chose this property
Unique is the best descriptor for Idlewood Beach. Imagine a neighborhood with 100 homes and cottages on top of a sand dune. You would have a few minutes' pleasant walk to relaxing on a sandy private beach on America's premier freshwater lake. But you could retreat to a shady cottage surrounded by oak and evergreen trees. You would also be a few minutes drive to great places to dine, shop, attend summer repertory theater, pick blueberries or stroll on the streets of a great small town.
What makes this property unique
In the Holland area, the Idlewood Beach Association is considered a unique beach community in itself, with friendly neighbors and charming streets--that are also our sidewalks.
