About the host
Hosted by Sarah & Jaime
Jaime was born in Amsterdam and spent his youth between the Netherlands and Guatemala. He met Sarah in Guatemala and moved to the US to be with her. They moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and started working in the Owens Valley in 2008, where they now live full-time. Sarah was born New Orleans and has lived in Ojai CA, Seattle, New York, Bali, Los Angeles and now Owens Valley.
Why they chose this property
During the last 16 years of working in the Owens Valley we have fallen in love with the desert, the mountains, the history and the people. We looked at places in the towns of Lone Pine and Independence but always yearned for a place where you could feel deeply connected to nature. This is that place. The hills, the mountains, the fresh groundwater underneath our feet.... it's all perfect and we feel joy every moment we spend there.
What makes this property unique
A mere ten feet below the surface we find groundwater clean and plentiful, coming straight off the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Many of the trees on the property have their roots in this water and the pond in the backyard fills seasonally. This abundance is noticeable in the vegetation around us and that's what first attracted us to the place.
