Luxury Apartment 'Just For Two' In Authentic Hilltop French Village near Domme
Les Tourterelles Apartment on the First floor of a C17th Village house gives guests the feeling of being lost in France in times gone by, but with all of the modern conveniences of the C21st.
Not everyone can organise their holiday to fit with Saturday to Saturday 7 day bookings, so we do try to allow guests to check in and out on other days. There is a 5 day min stay during summer.
With all of the original features retained, visitors enjoy a memorable stay in a truly Authentic French village house. For your comfort all new facilities, plumbing and electrics have been installed, but the old wooden floorboards, the chalked walls, the original Evier and the high wooden ceilings are still here..
Understated but tastefully decorated, the Apartment has beautiful views out over the walled garden and plunge pool, rooftops, and neighbouring gardens and fields..
It is very spacious (almost 50 sq metres) with lots of fresh air.
The main Salon is open- plan. The bedroom area is romantic and spacious with soft lighting and is made private with heavy linen curtains. It has real opening windows, morning sun and a view out over the guests courtyard. Thick stone walls keep it cool during the hot months. There are big windows that open, mosquito nets to ensure a peaceful sleep, and heavy wooden shutters to keep the Summer heat out.
The Apartment has its own private entrance via a wide external stone staircase with a tiny Terrace at the top. Right next to these stairs is a ground floor Courtyard for guests to sit outside with coffee and croissants in the morning sun or have a BBQ in the evening.
Guests are welcome to use the Plunge Pool which is shared with the owner. The pool is a Bio pool filled with rainwater and chemical free. It is crystal clear and filtered by aquatic cleansing plants and flows continuously over a small cascade. The garden and pool is accessed by a short 20 metre walk along the old stone garden wall.
The fit out is very high quality: The supremely comfortable Bed 160cm (King size) is a Simmons top range and is dressed with white French Linen dried in the sun. There is a choice of real, rectangular Australian Jumbuck wool pillows, or pillows with synthetic filling. A generous supply of fresh Bath Towels and Pool towels is included. A well equipped little kitchen corner means you can eat a simple meal at home if you need a night off from eating out in the dozens of restaurants nearby. The kitchen is not suitable for people wanting to cook complicated meals, it has two hot plates and a microwave.
All levels of dining out are available nearby, from casual little bistros with outdoor dining by the river, to serious haute cuisine. Michelin starred restaurants are within easy distance.
The Lobby area allows plenty of luggage storage.
The bathroom is beautiful, and unusually large for France(10 sq m) with Double Handbasins, separate shower, and a full size bath with shower attachment - plus a view to die for.
Even though it is in the centre of the Village Les Tourterelles and the environment around it is very peaceful. There is almost no noise other than birdsong and Cicadas in Summer, which is wonderful for a good nights sleep.
There is enough space for one car tucked up against our old stone wall, alternatively there is parking just up the lane and in the shade.
Les Tourterelles is an Apartment for two people only, and not suitable for children.
July and August - 5 day minimum stay. We do allow stays with check in/out days other than Saturday as is the norm in France. Please discuss with us.

I came to live in France from Australia 12 years ago, and almost by accident was fortunate enough to find this absolutely charming house in the Dordogne which I love. Actually, friends found it for me, and it was big enough to create a private apartment upstairs so others can experience this very beautiful part of the world too. Now the house has a whole new life, so do we in this lovely village with its wonderful people. I am an ex Restaurateur, and this is the perfect place for a food enthusiast

In France they say that when a person is looking for a home there has to be a 'Coup de Coeur'. Some very lovely friends of mine found this house for me, it was quite simply our Coup de Coeur.
