17th century house, classified 3 stars, built on an old sheepfold located at the foot of the castle with breathtaking views in one of the most beautiful villages of BLACK PERIGORD. Ranked among the most beautiful villages in FRANCE.
Detached house of 105 m2 on a closed plot of 1,500 m2.
Ground floor; a bedroom with 140 cm bed and 90 cm bed, bathroom, WC, cupboards. air-conditioned
Ground floor: kitchen, dining room with table 6/8 people, living room with fireplace, covered terrace with table for 8 people.
Upstairs: 1 bedroom with 160 cm bed and one bedroom with 80 bunk bed, shower room, WC, shower.

The village offers entertainment at the castle (private road giving direct access), shops (butcher, delicatessen, bakery, fine pastry, grocery store, bookstore, newsagent, hairdresser, restaurants), crossed by the Dordogne. In the heart of the valley of 5 castles, 13 minutes from Sarlat by car, 8 minutes from Domme, 5 minutes from Roque Gageac, 5 minutes from Beynac, 3 minutes from Marqueyssaq gardens, and 8 minutes from Château des Milandes. ~ 300m Canoe base, gabarres, (promenade on the Dordogne by flat bottom boat) hikes, horse riding, mountain biking, swimming, fishing, several addicted branches nearby, hot air ballooning and gourmet restaurants within a radius of 2 to 10 kms. Great place to stay in the Dordogne

We spent a wonderful week at La Bourgarde and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The property was perfect – just a short walk into Castelnaud for morning pastries and close enough to enjoy an afternoon swim. The location made it easy to pack in so many activities, and our whole family loved every moment. Check-in was seamless, and the host was excellent with communication and helpful advice throughout our stay. We will definitely be returning – highly recommended!

Lovely House with Fabulous Views

Lovely house with everything that you need. Position makes it have fabulous views. The pool was great, heated, clean and good sunbeds. Walk to the castle through the bottom of the garden. A couple of restaurants in the village plus a patisserie. Short ride to La Roque-Gageac with lots of restaurants and a little further to Sarlat-la-Canéda which is great. Would recommend this house and hope to return.

Idyllic Stay at Castelnaud

It was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful, well appointed house in a gorgeous location with a great swimming pool. We've been to the Dordogne many times before, all brilliant - but this was the best yet. Lovely place

Excellent little gîte with poplin the heart of a medieval village. Air con during the canicule was a godsend for the wee ones. Amenities good. Near to lots of interesting sites to visit.

Ideal holiday location

This house is in the perfect location. The view of the castle is stunning and we loved seeing the hot air balloons flying over morning and night. The house and pool have everything you need. Canoeing is only a five minute walk away as is a great little patisserie and butchers. We would definitely recommend a stay at La Bourgarde.

Lovely house in fabulous setting

We had a great holiday at La Bourgarde, a lovely restored property with the benefit of a large garden, heated swimming pool and ample parking, just a short walk up to the castle and restaurants or down to the superb local boulangerie. Fantastic views from the terrace, which is also great for outdoor eating. And a perfect base for visiting the main sites of the Dordogne. We hope to return soon!

Amazing maison in Perigord

This was our second stay at La Bourgarde and again it did not disappoint. Check in was smooth, with Emilie showing us about and sorting out bedding, meter readings and cleaning wishes for check out. It’s a great set up on three floors, with a bedroom and bathroom downstairs, open plan living area on the first floor and 2 bedrooms and shower room upstairs. Aircon was a welcome relief overnight during the canicule, and the wifi was fast. The pool area is well situated and has shaded seating, with a BBQ just along. The area itself is great for castles, caves and other amusements. Well worth it, and we can’t wait to return.

Lovely location

My family and I enjoyed our two weeks here. The property was clean, had everything you need and has a great pool and outdoor area. The location and house are both excellent, but you need to be relatively fit and agile as the property has steep stairs and the walk to the village (up and down) are steep. The amount of mosquitoes tarnished our stay, but we were advised that this year was unusual. There was no book recommending things to do which was a shame and having to pay for towels and bedding was excessive given the cost of the rental. It would have been good to have satelite TV (for us foreigners!) and table tennis/boule would have been excellent, as there's plenty of space outdoors. However, overall, the property is great and we had a good time.

Dear Shaun, We're glad you had a great stay at La Bourgarde. However, we were surprised not to have found the property as clean as when you arrived and Emilie had to do the housekeeping after your departure. As for the books about what's to be seen around the Dordogne area, all the leaflets are kept in the coffee table in the living-room. Regarding the TV, you have access to Netflix and over 70 channels including BBC News, CNN, Sky News, CNBC, Bloomberg (for foreigners). Concerning the bedsheets and towels, we chose not to include them in the rental price as it wouldn't be fair to holiday-makers who only come by 2 or 3 compared to those who come by 6 people. Finally, to leave boules would be too dangerous and we already tried once to leave some and they disappeared... We hope you had a safe trip back home.

Perfect Perigord

This was our first trip to the Perigord region and Christian's house was the perfect place for us. Traveling with friends it was nice to have bedrooms very private from each other, above the main floor and below. (Their are two above and one below.) Furnishings and equipment in the house are amazingly well designed and functional and the kitchen is ideally equipped. We had warm enough weather to really appreciate the pool. The front porch of the house is much larger than I remembered from photos, with plenty of room for the large table for six, plus other chairs when needed. The view from the porch includes the castle above and the old church down below, and looks across the side valley to cliffs where prehistoric remains have been found. Five minutes from Beynac and Roque Gageac, 10 from Domme and 15 from Sarlat, the location was perfect for touring beautiful old villages. Just at the bottom of the hill (1 minute by car) were enough shops to keep the pantry full. The local manager was efficient and readily available, and able to communicate well enough despite the language difference. The owners (and his English-speaking daughter) were also always available by phone to help with any issues that arose. We highly recommend this house!

Mooi huis, prachtige omgeving !

Leuke week gehad in Castelnaud. De eigenaar is erg vriendelijk en stuurde ons nog wat informatie over ridder/tempelier Hugues de Payns, die een plekje heeft in de tuin. Mooi huis, met een heerlijk verwarmd zwembad, met uitzicht op het kasteel en op de beboste vallei. Voor rustzoekers ideaal: naast af en toe de kerkklok ( van het mooie oude kerkje dichtbij) hoor je alleen het gezang van heel veel vogels: indrukwekkend en rustgevend tegelijk. Vanaf het huis is het maar een korte wandeling naar het kasteel, dat de moeite waard is om te bezichtigen. Prachtig uitzicht ook vanaf daar. In de omgeving is veel te doen (boottocht of kanoën op de rivier of een ballonvaart), of een bezoekje aan mooie dorpjes zoals Beynac, la Roque Gaegac en Domme. Te veel om te zien in 1 week. We moeten daarom nog een keer terugkomen ;-) De Dordogne is prachtig!

We moeten terugkomen om andere plaatsen te bezoeken die de Dordogne ons biedt om te ontdekken (de prachtige stad SARLAT, de prachtige kloven en grotten zoals LASCAUX, de prachtige tuinen van MARQUESSAC). en het landhuis EYRIGNAC, zonder de talrijke kastelen zoals die van Joséphine BACKER (les MILANDES) in BOURGARDE te vergeten, u bevindt zich in het hart van de vallei van de 5 kastelen. Tot ziens, hartelijk P&C Nous sommes ravis que votre séjour et les visites ce soient bien passées comme vous le précisez.il faut revenir pour visiter d’autres lieux que La Dordogne nous offre à découvrir (La belle ville de SARLAT, les gouffres et grottes magnifiques comme LASCAUX, les jardins splendides de MARQUESSAC et du manoir D’EYRIGNAC. ROCAMADOUR, sans oublier les nombreux châteaux comme celui de Joséphine BACKER (les MILANDES) à la BOURGARDE vous êtes au cœur de la vallée des 5 châteaux. Einzigartiges Haus

Die Lage und die Abgeschiedenheit dieses Häuschens sind etwas Besonderes, man fühlt sich wie ein Schloß-Besitzer auf Zeit. Wunderschöne Ausblicke von der überdachten Terrasse auf Burg, Kirche und Tal, häufig kommen die örtlichen Heißluftballons vorbei geschwebt. Je nach Jahreszeit können hier alle Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden. Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche mit umfangreichen Utensilien, es fehlte nichts Wichtiges. Nicht geeignet für körperlich eingeschränkte Gäste: die Stiegen im Haus sind steil und nicht zu umgehen, da Küche/Essbereich/Terrasse in der mittleren Etage und Schlafzimmer/Bäder in unterer bzw. oberer Etage liegen. Schöner Pool, jedoch ohne Einstiegshilfe/Geländer an der Treppe. Dort befindet sich ein weiterer, überdachter Sitzbereich. Einkaufen und im Restaurant (Abend-) Essen war im Juni nur im unteren Dorfteil möglich, der obere Teil ist nur zur Öffnungszeit der Burg belebt bzw. bewirtschaftet gewesen. Dorthin und auch nach unten führen steile, oft steinige Fußwege. Unser Fazit: wer es ruhig und romantisch mag, wird dieses Haus lieben.

Maison exceptionnelle par son emplacement et ses prestations. Accueil chaleureux du propriétaire et d'Emilie. Nous recommandons sans réserve cette location.

Vue magnifique

Très bon accueil d’Emilie , la maison est agréable , le plus : la climatisation surtout avec cette semaine de canicule ! Sans oublier la piscine avec un emplacement et une vue fantastique !

Beautiful 'La Bourgarde'

After waiting for almost 2 years to enjoy our holiday with friends in 'La Bourgarde', we were not disappointed. Everything was as hoped for and more. Communication with the property owner Christian, and daughter Marjory about our delayed holiday due to Covid, was very reassuring & perfect. The property was just as described, everything we could possibly need was there, and more. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bedrooms spacious & beds comfortable. We ate outside on the terrace with glorious views across the valley, perfect for watching the hot air balloon flights morning & evening. BBQ meals under the arbour near the fabulous pool, enjoying privacy and peace and quiet. We enjoyed dining out at the various restaurants in & around this beautiful village, especially 'Le Tournepique'. And my husband exercised daily to get us croissant & baguette from the local boulangerie. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'La Bourgarde' and will hopefully return one day. Many thanks to Emilie also, punctual for check-in & check-out. Everything could not have gone better for a relaxing & carefree time in France.
