Plan a day trip to nearby towns (Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Alma, Mountainburg, Mulberry, Altus, Chester, etc.), or take in some great views of the Ouachita forest. A day at the home can be spent watching for deer, fishing in the on-property pond, BBQ and marshmallow roasting at one of the two fire pits, enjoying spectacular stars or hiking some of the on-property trails.
We are close in proximity to many recreational areas and natural forests where you can partake in outdoor activities including ATV riding (Buckhorn, Mulberry), hiking (Devils Den), horseback riding, Lake Fort Smith, Lee Creek swimming hole, etc. Feel relaxed and rejuvenate in our peaceful, natural, unique retreat.
Don`t miss:
Devils Den State Park Lake Fort Smith State Park White Rock Mountain Recreation Area ATV trails that can be ridden to include: Buckhorn (6.4 miles), Mill Creek, Mulberry Mountain Crystal Bridges (In Bentonville)
When you get off the highway (49) you`ll be on a very scenic, winding, country road for about 15-20 minutes to get to the house - the last mile of which is a well maintained gravel road - giving you the sense of being away from it all. It`s best to plan what you`ll need for the stay to avoid unnecessary trips to re-stock or grab forgotten items as it is about 20 minutes to a full service grocery store or 15 minutes to a gas station or Dollar General.
If you are unfamiliar with the road, it can take a longer time to get to the home as the road does have several sharp turns and small hills on the way.

This weekend was a perfect place for a peaceful retreat with friends. It was not too far from our distinction, Devils Den state park. We had 6 people in our group,But there was plenty of room for more. Fully stocked kitchen and several comfy places to sit together and relax.
great secluded location. well maintained home and property with all the amenities you could need. enjoyed the peaceful deck in the evening and firepit down by the pond.
home had everything you would need for a great getaway.
The house was perfect for our small riding group. You can access trails with a short 15 min ride down the road. The house and property was very nice and clean and we will absolutely be back here soon.
The property was very welcoming and comfortable. Easy to get to Devil's Den and Fayetteville, but my family had almost as much fun just exploring the place. The most impressive part of this stay, however, was how easy it was to get in tpuch with the property owner. All of my questions were answered within minutes. I highly recommended this place.
The house had everything you could think of! We were very impressed with all the home items that were there. We were a group of 9 adults. We had so much fun! The property had two beautiful fire-pits and so much open space. The owner was always fast to answer all our questions. Would highly recommend.
Loved having room for everyone and such a great yard.
We had a wonderful time and will definitely be going back. The only thing I am curious about is our deposit that we have not received back as of yet. We left it super clean and it may just be a timing issue. Thank you for sharing your home
We traveled to our hometown for Christmas with our adult children and their spouses. We needed a place to stay that would accommodate all of us and family that live in the area. The kitchen is well-stocked to cook the meals we cooked for 12 people. Plenty of room for all of us. Host had home decorated for Christmas which was a very nice touch. Host was also very responsive. The property was expansive which was nice for a brisk walk. We appreciated our stay very much! Highly recommend!

Poor experience
When we arrived two of the doors were unlocked. Motion lights came on outside by the unlocked door. We locked the doors when we got there and then one of the doors was unlocked again. We did not feel as though it was safe to stay. We left shortly after arriving.

My apologies for the experience Cassidy. Since the property is very rural, as I explained, there are many different things that could have triggered a motion light including the local "barn cat", insects, trees moving in the wind, etc. As I mentioned, I was able to verify with the outdoor security cameras that there was no one else in the area, nor have I had any past problems with un-welcomed guests. I do have several outside lights that do illuminate the front yard, barn next to the home, etc. to make sure there is also light on the dark nights. I wish you the best!

Buyer beware - raw sewage
Raw sewage began backing up into the shower, across the floor, and into the bedroom. We had to pack up and leave due to the stench, and we couldn't use any of the showers. The owner blamed it on us and refused to refund any money.

Hi Scott,
I am sorry about the experience, but do want to add a little more context. The home was being use by 12+ people and everything was working as expected the first day. At some point during the 2nd day of the stay, something was put down the system that caused the backup. Within 2 hours of the call, I had a plumber and cleaning person at the house on a Sunday to unblock the blockage that was put down the drain and had the home ready, cleaned and sanitized by the time your group would have returned from their event - so there was no need to find another accommodation.
Again, I apologize for the experience, but also cannot control what is put down a drain that could stop it up (which has never happened before in all of the years the home has been in the family and offered as a short term rental).
Yours,
-- Dave
Property is beautiful. Next time will want to stay longer. Friday afternoon to sunday morning not near enough time to explore. Kitchen well equipped and accommodations were comfortable.
Great wide open spaces for family fun! Loved the hammocks, the swings, the hay bales, and the pond. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.
We had great time at this place. It was nice to have the pond to fish in, the fenced in yard, and the trail near the house to have adventures on. And the fact that it’s not to far from lots to do is an added bonus- Devils Den trails, Crystal mining, etc.
The house and property are amazing. There’s plenty of room for everyone, no lack of entertainment and everything is very well maintained, inside and out. We spent Thanksgiving week here with friends & family and enjoyed every moment of it. Outdoors is where we preferred to stay but on those weather days - being cooped up card gaming inside was just as good! It was nice to get out of town and bask in that country calm. Highly recommend!!
Very nice property that had everything we could possibility need. We had a great time although the property is not 3 miles from devils den (it took almost an hour to get to the park) and about 20 minutes to the nearest store/gas station. Would love to stay again.

Hi Casandra - Thank you so much for the comments. To help clarify for someone who may be reading the review, the property description indicates 30 minutes to Devils Den - I’m not sure where the confusion of 3 miles came from. If you plug Devils Den and the properties address in Google Maps, it indicates 30 minutes travel time. The travel time to the nearest store / gas station shows 16 minutes. They are curvy roads, so I can see how some may drive them slower than the speed limits.

From Kansas City, have travelled extensively, love to explore new areas, meet new people and experience what this life has to offer! I’ve been hosting for several years and truly enjoy creating comfortable, memorable stays that feel like home — not just a place to sleep.
I take pride in well-designed spaces, thoughtful touches, and clear communication so guests can relax and enjoy their time without stress. Whether you’re traveling for family, business, or a quick getaway, my goal is to make your stay easy, enjoyable, and exactly what you hoped for.
Why they chose this property
My Grandparents built the home 50+ years ago. My goal is to allow others to enjoy the area as much as I have. The location feels like a true getaway without being too far from everything guests might need. This neighborhood offers the best of both worlds — peaceful, open surroundings with the comfort and convenience of nearby shops, only 35 minutes away to Fayetteville!
What really drew me to this area is the sense of space and calm. You can sit outside and hear the sounds of nature, enjoy walks without traffic noise, and still be close enough to the city to grab dinner or explore what the area has to offer. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you can truly relax — whether that means a quiet morning coffee by the pond, family time on the patio, or a weekend outdoors.
It’s a setting that feels safe, welcoming, and refreshingly peaceful — perfect for the kind of stays where people come to reconnect, recharge, and make memories.
What we offer: * An original Boston Mountain house on 160 acres to explore * In-house laundry * 5 Flat screen TVs *Wrap around porch *Fully stocked kitchen *All linens / towels provided *Laid back, comfortable furniture. *Meadow pond - full of fish! * Open country setting surrounded by rolling meadows and the tranquil beauty that is the Boston Mountain Range in the Ozark National Forest! * Hiking trails (old logging roads) to explore the woods * Creek with waterfalls, pools and exquisite scenery * Excellent photography opportunities * Wildlife everywhere
What makes this property unique

The open layout encourages togetherness, while the bedrooms, multiple living spaces, and game room give everyone a place to spread out and recharge. Guests love the cozy, welcoming feel and the attention to detail throughout — from high-quality furnishings and comfortable bedding to the fully stocked kitchen that makes cooking and dining together effortless.
Outside, you’ll find what truly sets this property apart — a peaceful setting surrounded by nature, complete with a pond and open space that feels private and refreshing. Whether you’re relaxing on the patio, watching wildlife in the morning, or enjoying the sunset with friends, it’s the kind of environment that invites you to slow down and take it all in.
Families appreciate that the home is both beautiful and practical — plenty of parking, fast Wi-Fi, laundry, and easy self-check-in make the stay smooth and stress-free. The “ATV-friendly” surroundings and outdoor space also make it a unique destination for those who want a bit of adventure without giving up comfort.
Every detail is designed to make guests feel at home from the moment they arrive. It’s the perfect place to gather, celebrate, or simply escape the day-to-day — a home that’s as versatile as it is relaxing, and one that guests consistently say feels even better in person than the pictures.
