About this property

Lakefront Property on Whitefish Lake.. walk out across the lawn to the dock !

Our home was designed to encompass the beautiful views of Big Mountain (Ski Whitefish) and Whitefish Lake.

On the main level the living room is the center piece, with a Montana moss rock wood burning fireplace that will take the chill of those cool Montana evenings. The views out the windows of the lake and mountain are ones you'll never forget!

The kitchen has rustic cherry cabinets full of supplies to prepare a meal for your family and friends, as well as a six burner gas stove. With a dining table to seat 8 and 4 more bar stools, you can host a lovely gathering. Out the door of the dining is the bbq (both natural gas and charcoal grills) and outdoor dining.

The deck wraps around the lake side of the house where you can sit and enjoy the morning sun or afternoon shade. You are just steps away from the lake.

The laundry room is also on the main level with a large laundry sink and a Maytag washer and dryer. The door off the laundry room is another good access with a gentle path down to the lower lawn and lake level.

The master bedroom has a king bed and fantastic views of the lake and Big Mountain. The his and her vanities and walk in shower with two shower heads have a private access out to the hot tub.

The second bedroom on this floor has a queen bed in it, and it's bathroom has a walk in tiled shower also, with plenty of room to manure a walker or wheelchair.

Downstairs has a large family room with a second refrigerator and another dining table for you to enjoy your lunch, or board games or puzzles.

There are two more bedrooms and full baths in this lower level. The 3rd bedroom has a king bed and it's attached bathroom has a shower, and the 4th bedroom has a queen bed with it's attached bathroom having a tub/shower unit.

There is also a bunk room on the lower level that can sleep 4 little ones.. (a bunk bed with a trundle and another twin bed).

Outside the lower level,is the lake! Just steps across the lawn is a dock with an umbrella and lawn chairs. You'll see a buoy for your use to hold a boat or jet ski. There is a paddle boat for you to use, which is the easiest way to come and go from the dock to your boat!

Whitefish Lake house

The home is beautiful and is as nice a place as it appears on the VRBO site. The owners were very gracious. We would love to come back again in a few years!

Whitefish at its best

Property is magnificent. The house was equipped with everything we needed. The location is spectacular. It was an ideal vacation for our multi generation family gathering. The owners were great to work with.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this house. It was fantastic!

I’m not sure where to even start. We were a party of 7 and we had enough rooms to accommodate our party. This house was the perfect spot for celebrating my parent’s 80th birthday’s. We’ve never been to Montana and even though we were 45 minutes from GNP, it didn’t bother us. We actually liked being on the lake and spending a couple days outside the park and enjoying lake life and the town of Whitefish (which was 5 mins away- adorbs town). BUT it was a hike to get to the East entrance (2 hrs). The house was well equipped with anything you could possibly need. The best equipped I’ve ever stayed in. Even had a kitchenaid mixer (you never see). Two coffee pots provided (Keurig and Mr. Coffee for either brewing pleasure), grill outside, 2 paddle boards and a paddle boat, hot tub (loved). Would have loved a kayak, but can’t complain about it too much. Two things to mention that I definitely did NOT pay attention to when booking: 1. No AC. Typically in this area it’s not much of a concern as temps are not too hot but the week we stayed it was in the upper 90’s all week. With a few tricks that were told to us by the owners, the house remarkably stayed pretty cool; especially the basement (where there are 3 rooms). Almost too cold. 2. The house is literally right by the railroad tracks. This is a busy railroad as I think we heard 5 trains go by in an hour time. We didn’t mind it but some might be put off by that. The house well compensated for that fact.

one safety issue

as you face the garage from the driveway there is a void in the rail on the left hand side. we had a gentleman that was backing up getting out of the car and came close to falling down into that void. i am sure he would have been severely hurt or even died.

Beautiful Setting!

We celebrated my husbands 80th birthday here with our family. The house is spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, pots/pans and small appliances. Plenty of deck seating, large table for outdoor dining. The hosts were very responsive to questions before and during our stay. They met us at check-in for a tour and to discuss specifics of the property. The reasons for the two 4 star ratings: The interior of the home was very clean and well maintained. The spa was in “sleep mode” for the summer, so was not clean. The hosts identified this after we arrived and sent instructions on switching back and adding a “shock” chemical. I’ve read other concerns about the trains…Whitefish is a train town so you will hear trains most of the day. The train track is very near this neighborhood. The first night we had trouble getting back to sleep but we had all windows open in the master suite. We closed the windows and turned on the fan and slept very well the next 5 nights. Overall… this is an outstanding home!!

This is a beautiful home with a fantastic location. Our family enjoyed kayaking on the lake and using the paddleboat. It's a short drive to shopping and restaurants. Don and Martha are wonderful hosts and were able to answer all my questions.

Amazing home on the shores of Whitefish lake Montana!

This is a beautiful home on Whitefish Lake. The pictures don’t do the home justice. Martha and Don were very helpful and this home is Incredible. We would highly recommend staying at the Harring Cabin! We look forward to returning.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful lakefront property. The location is beautiful and the lawn in front of the property was really nice for our family - we really appreciated not to have to navigate steep stairs. The kitchen had everything we could have wanted for our stay.

Montana Vacation

House was beautiful and landscaping was immaculate. We were told this was first time to rent out home , I recommend they list the train that runs constantly , right next to road that the home sat on. Seriously if I had knowledge of this annoying factor ,we would have passed on this rental but were never made aware of before hand. If you have small kids it’s gonna be hard to abide by no shoes in home rule as there are many ways into the home The home and property were beautiful and well maintained. Had a great time exploring all the parks and will visit Montana again !!!!

Martha and I recently completed this new home on the property I grew up on, which has been in the family since 1971. We wanted to have a place where our four children and their young families could come and visit in the summer and winter.

Why they chose this property

Location, Location, Location. One of a few lake properties where you walk across a lawn to access the dock (not down flights of stairs). The best views of Big Mountain are from this side of the lake. Town is a mile and a half away, Whitefish Trails trailhead two miles away, Whitefish Lake Golf Course a mile away, State Park three blocks away for launching your watercraft.
However, you may never want to leave the home with it's family spaces and lakeshore and docks to enjoy.
