About this property
Il trullo del Mirto, splendid villa with private swimming pool a few km from the sea
In one of the most beautiful areas of the south of Bari in the hills of Monopoli, in a suggestive panoramic landscape, our trulli are born.
"Once upon a time there was a territory made of vineyards, cherry trees and olive groves kissed by the warm warmth of the sun. A place where the history of our Puglia was written ... "
In one of the most beautiful areas of the Bari coast, in the hills of Monopoli, in an evocative panoramic landscape, in an oasis of tranquility, time stops to offer you the pleasure of enjoying the scents that our land is able to offer you . A complex of cones and lamias in local stone, recently expertly restored, are ready to welcome you to let you experience the thrill of living in a trullo. The villa, inaugurated in September 2012, consists of five rooms, comfortable and welcoming. A double bedroom (with cot), a twin bedroom with bunk beds, large living room with sofa bed, kitchen equipped with all comforts and bathroom with shower. Outside, a large flower garden frames a gazebo with a tastefully furnished pergola, under which you can dine, perhaps using the barbecue provided. Finally, swimming pool with solarium and outdoor shower. Our villa can accommodate up to 6 people. Our rates include VAT, initial and final cleaning, electricity, water with hot water, linen, air conditioning, courtesy set for each guest, gazebo, deck chairs and everything you need for pleasant barbecues at no additional cost.
Our trulli can be an excellent starting point for the surroundings rich in history, art, landscape and natural beauty. Among the many possibilities we recommend:
Alberobello
At about 8km
Famous in the world for the presence of the famous Trulli, Unesco World Heritage Site,
Monopoli, Polignano a Mare and the Adriatic Sea
About 8 km
Coming down from the plateau you can easily reach Monopoli, a town of about 50,000 inhabitants and with a splendid sea, following a very suggestive road.
Recommended destinations: the castle, the abbey of Santo Stefano, the civic tower with the clock, the Scaletta, an inlet near the city, and the 'il Capitolo' area, about 5 km to the south, full of establishments and very nice tourist facilities.
Martina Franca
At about 26km.
The city, located on the southern edge of the Murge, is characterized by the remarkable historic center, dominated by the Baroque style. Noteworthy are the Basilica of San Martino and the Doge's Palace, as well as the white alleys and the noble palaces.
Castellana Grotte
About 15 km.
Karst complex of caves and cavities, extends underground for about 3 km. There are two routes indicated for the visit: the short one of about half an hour and the complete one, which takes a couple of hours. Well spent though!
We undoubtedly recommend a visit to the cavity called 'la Grave', with a height of about 60 meters and to the 'white' caves, considered among the most beautiful in the world, and 'black'.
The zoo safari of Fasano
About 5 km.
First zoo safari in Italy and among the largest in Europe, the zoo safari of Fasano welcomes many different animal species in a park of about 150 hectares. Characteristic are the dolphinarium, unique in Southern Italy, the monkey park and the gorilla area. The property also has an amusement park, Fasanolandia, with attractions for various age groups.
The white city of Ostuni
At about 28km.
Known as the white city because of the whitewashed houses, Ostuni is a very characteristic post town about 10 km from the sea. Also called 'crib city', Ostuni is an essential destination; to visit: the historic center and in particular the Cathedral, the Carmelite monastery, villa Nazareth, the column of Sant'Oronzo and the Aragonese walls, perhaps while sipping an aperitif in one of the numerous adjacent rooms.
The Sassi of Matera
At about 70km.
The Sassi di Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constitute the historic center of the town. These are houses built in the tuff, close to a deep ravine, the Gravina di Matera, which divides the city into two distinct areas: the Sasso Barisano and the Sasso Caveoso. Very particular, apart from the excavated buildings, are the canalization and water storage systems, necessary due to the considerable distance from the waterways.
Castel del Monte
At about 100km.
Castel del Monte is a characteristic octagonal building, formerly the residence of Federico II. Although it is commonly called 'castle', the function of the building is still not well known, as it lacks the typical defensive structures of a fortress (moat for example) and numerous other details, such as slits too small for the use of arrows. Even the hypothesis that it was a hunting building is not confirmed: the stables are missing, just to name one.
The most accredited thesis accredits Castel del Monte as a temple or as a residence for studies. To all intents and purposes it exudes a feeling of tranquility, both for the position and for the symbolisms present, increasing the feeling of magic of the place.
There are many esoteric theories associated with Castel del Monte. Even ignoring the truthfulness of the thing, there is no doubt that it is one of the most characteristic places in Puglia and perhaps in the whole of Italy.
The baroque in Lecce
At about 100km.
Lecce is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Southern Italy. The historic center, permeated by the Baroque art of its most characteristic monuments, contributed to the affectionate denomination of the city: the Florence of the South.
An absolutely indispensable destination both for the already indicated artistic beauties, and for the excellent food, first of all Friselle, and for the seaside resorts located near the city.
Trani
At about 90km.
A city rich in history, Trani stands on the coast north of Bari. Renowned for good food, in particular seafood and for the Trani stone, a very sought-after characteristic stone, Trani is worth a visit to the marina, the Cathedral and the Swabian Castle.
