This is THE best VRBO property we have ever stayed!
This is THE best VRBO property we have ever stayed! Carol's hospitality was spot on. She has done a phenomenal job in paying attention to the slightest of details, with all our needs and expectations being met. The views are amazing, the deer are friendly, and the fun of Chama is close. I would strongly recommend you stay here, and I hope I can find time for another trip!

About the host

My husband and I are originally from Tucson, Arizona. We wanted a place to escape the intense summer heat and found Chama, NM. We took a big gamble and sold everything in Tucson and moved here permanently in 2015 and have not regretted it once.

Why they chose this property

It took us three years to find our current home. It wasn't in the best shape but when my husband saw the lakeview he was sold. In 2012 we started our intensive makeover of the main living space and concluded with the lower level of Casita La Cueva in 2017. It took over a year to finish a 316 square foot room. We removed about five tons of rock during the process. It was an incredible sweat equity experience to see the transformation of the before and after.

What makes this property unique

The lakeview is why we bought our home. Coming from Arizona we would travel about three hours to a big body of water. Here you can hike to the narrows and fish for trout and salmon. The property is in an ideal location for day trips. The animal life of elk, deer, turkey, bear, Osprey, and eagles is a photo opporturnity. I looked out the kitchen window to see a deer peering in. The following day she was at the front door with her fawn.
