Beautiful home
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Watching all the different wildlife walk right in front of the home. Property management was on point. We had a small issue and they were there within 15 minutes and had everything fixed and ready to go.

Relaxing getaway
This property is spectacular. It is private and cozy. We enjoyed the town of Chama during the day and then enjoyed the evening together at the cabin. We will definitely be back.

Peaceful & Cozy
The cabin was super clean, organized, and spacious. It has a warm ambiance with the candle like lighting. The kitchen is well equipped. Communication was excellent. Valerie gave clear and detailed directions to the cabin. There was also a binder with info on local events, nearby restaurants, and emergency contacts one might need. The hosts were thoughtful to leave several fans and detailed instructions on the timing and use of fans and windows to keep the home cool—which came in handy as our stay was during a heat wave. We would definitely like to come back.

Amazing getaway
Valerie is the best host ever! This is our 2nd time staying at one of her properties. Everything you could imagine needing was supplied for us. The cabin stays incredibly cool as long as you follow the instructions Valerie provides. We will definitely be returning to this property. It was a very nice getaway.

Great location
We loved staying in this cozy cabin in the woods. It wasn't too far from "town". It was beautiful and fun to explore the woods. We saw wildlife a few times. We took Beautiful photos. Highly recommend the coffee shop in town. Lots of space for a family. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals. Folder provided lots of information making everything easy. Very clean. Beds were not the most comfortable for adults but the kids loved the bunk bed. Opening the windows didn't cool off the house as we are used to having it but its wasn't too bad. It would of been nice to have some shampoo because we were unable to bring it on the airplane. We didn't experience any issues during our stay.

My husband Lee and I live nearby, along with my Australian Sheppard and Jack Russell that may come visit during your stay. We love this area and enjoy sharing information about our favorite places with guests so please don't hesitate to contact us with questions.

Why they chose this property

My husband Lee has a life long passion for elk hunting. He first came here in 1978, hunted many other places over the years, but continued to be drawn back to the Chama Valley area time and again and eventually bought property here in the Brazos Canyon. We had a 2nd home here and later became full time residents in what he calls his "favorite place in the whole United States".

What makes this property unique

The pace is slower here in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Elevation is 8,000 ft and we enjoy an ideal climate with 4 distinct seasons. There is snow in the winter, summers are cool, with very little wind. Most days the sun shines, so combined with the dry climate, it's usually comfortable outdoors. The home has radiant heat under the floors for the winter and we don't even need air-conditioning here in the cool mountains.
