This beautiful, 8-bedroom house has spectacular views of Crystal Lake and and provides a multitude of vacation pleasures. The house is located 125 feet over the water, and is reached by a half-mile driveway through private woods. The property features peace and tranquility along with a multitude of amenities. It has 400 feet of lake frontage with a private sandy beach, a large patio overlooking the lake that can host meals for a crowd, a tennis court, and private woodland trails through 22 acres of deep northern woods. There are paddle boards and kayaks on the beach, a hammock for afternoon reading on the bluff, and a swing set for the younger crowd. There are fire pits both on the beach and off the patio, making campfires an easy conclusion to day at the beach.
The house is comfortably furnished with antiques, many of them original to the house. A large main room with a picture perfect view of the lake has a working fireplace on one end. It leads into a sun porch with couch, tables for games and puzzles, and a piano. The kitchen was remodeled in 2018 and is equipped to feed a crowd. There is a rec room with ping pong and air hockey in the basement. There are three bedrooms on the main floor, and five on the upper floor. On the upper level, three bedrooms have spectacular lake views and two have views of the woods. There is a full bath and half-bath on the main floor, two full baths on the upper floor and an additional full bathroom (with a unique six-spigot shower) off the rec room.
The beach features a long dock, with space to sit over the water, a swimming raft and chairs and toys for all. In addition to the paddle boards and kayaks, there is a sunfish sailing boat, a 20-foot Boston Whaler and 22-foot pontoon boat, which are available for separate rental for $500 per week, provided an experienced boater is available. A “boating resume” must be provided.
This “cottage” is also close to other activities. It is a short drive to Beulah, Frankfort, and Pt. Betsie Lighthouse. Biking around the lake is a popular family activity. Sleeping Bear Dunes, canoeing the Platte river, even the local Cherry Bowl drive-in provide additional activities.
