This was a house with lots of room. The architectural features of the house itself were wonderfull. The pool provided a lot of fun for everyone. The kitchen was well set up to make meals for the 17 people who stayed here. The location was private but very accessible to stores and tourist attractions.
Wonderful rural locations, this historical old chateau was large enough for our reunion group of 14 adults. An impressive 10 bedrooms, most with ensuites and large communal kitchen, outdoor and formal dining rooms were functional and fairly well stocked with utensils, cutlery, crockery etc. The comfort level was low with hard old beds and older plumbing facilities - basins, showers etc. - expect older and dated, antique furniture etc. Rustic - yes! The pool is excellent, the grounds and garden ambiance, wonderful. Large games room and petanque were fun. No undercover parking. Supermaket 6km away. Great area to explore.
This chateau is a magnificent example of the Chartreuse style, spacious and graceful, teeming with the feel of history, but comfortable in ways the kings of old never enjoyed. The beds and bathrooms were modern and of high quality, ensuring a pleasant night's sleep. Our group of twelve friends gathered in the kitchen each day and planned our adventures, we had several formal dinners in the grand dining hall, and yet there was never a lack of privacy or quiet when needed.
But above all, we were blessed with the generosity of our gracious hosts, Christine and Hubert, who offered advice on sites to visit and the rich history of the region. They were extremely helpful when one of our group had a flat tire that the rental company refused to deal with, and they went above and beyond what we have experienced with any host of properties elsewhere.
We do not hesitate to recommend this chateau to anyone, and we look forward to a return visit.
Thank you again, Christine and Hubert
