About this property
Lake Superior Retreat - enjoy sunrises, beach days, and wedding celebrations!
Thanks for checking out our beach home!
This home is on Lake Superior in one of Marquette's most remarkable locations. It is one of only two privately owned homes that are on the beach and yet still in town, where you can park your car and walk to everything. With wide, sweeping vistas of Lake Superior and the Marquette lighthouse, this home is literally steps to McCarty's Cove, a family friendly beach noted in USA Today’s “Best Small Towns for Adventure”. This home is near it all and away from it all, all at once!
From your home you can walk the beach with your morning coffee and watch the sun rise, then in the afternoon you can watch your children wriggle their toes in the clean Lake Superior sand and splash in its crystal clear waters. Come evening you can enjoy a meal and glass of wine while listening to the sound of the waves.
Walking into the home you are welcomed by an open kitchen surrounded by tall windows offering a 180 degree view of Lake Superior. There is a sun room open to the kitchen that provides a place to relax and take in the sights of the lake, McCarty’s Cove, and the Marquette Lighthouse.
The first floor includes a dining room, a living room with a gas fireplace, a bathroom with a washer and dryer, and a bunkbed room. Upstairs you’ll find two bedrooms, a bathroom and a sun room with floor to ceiling windows ideal for watching 1000 foot freighters glide by on Lake Superior.
This home sleeps nine people and includes one master bedroom with a king sized bed, one bedroom with a queen sized bed, a second story sun room with a day bed, a first floor bunk bed room, and a queen size pull out couch in the living room.
The home is well-appointed with a kitchen stocked with plenty of cookware, plates, glasses, and utensils. The bedrooms have comfortable linens and down comforters. The home has two bathrooms with an ample supply of towels. The home also includes WiFi and a television in the living room with Netflix.
Outside the home is a large deck with an outdoor dining set and outdoor seating perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while watching the waves roll onto the beach.
This is a four seasons home with a cool lake breeze providing air conditioning in the summer while protecting you late into the fall while you watch gale winds whip the waves into a frenzy from the comfort of your home. The home will keep you cozy during a U.P. winter storm and provide you a front row seat in the spring when the ice on the lake breaks up and ice bergs bob in the water.
If your ideal vacation involved parking the car for a week, you won't be disappointed. The city bike path is right in front of the home and you are walking distance to both the downtown and Third Street Village shops, restaurants, coffee houses, and brew pubs and within biking distance to Presque Isle Park. If adventure is on your list, you're just a short drive to waterfalls, vistas, and hiking, biking and running trails suited to any level of difficulty you desire.
Looking to exchange your "I do's" while overlooking Lake Superior? Please ask about hosting your wedding at the home. For an additional fee, the backyard can accommodate up to 60 chairs and the driveway can accommodate a 20' x 40' tent. Sorry, chairs and tent not included in the fee, but we can recommend a local vendor!
Please feel free to contact us so we can answer any questions you may have about the home or Marquette. We are locals and live just blocks away and are happy to help you make the most of your stay!

About the host
Hosted by Greg & Kate
My wife Kate and I have lived in Marquette since 2005. Kate is a Registered Nurse and I am a Professional Engineer. We both retired in 2017.
Kate and I are both outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy stepping out our front door and finding ourselves at the lake or in the woods within minutes. We both love trail running and the miles of trails that branch out from the City.

Why they chose this property
Kate and I bought this house in 2018. There are only four homes on the east side of Marquette that are on the beach and we viewed this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a house that was on the lake but still right in the middle of Marquette.
What makes this property unique
This home is only one of four homes in Marquette that are both on the beach and bike path and centrally located to everything Marquette has to offer.
