Nice Property
To begin with - overall, we had some nice vacation! Mas Soli is located very close to Caderousse - a small and authentic French village where you can find a bakery, supermarket, cafe... It´s a self check-in and we could easily get on the property and in the house.
The location is very nice with a huge outside area. There are three more houses on the property, but it is still very private and calm. Most of the time we had the pool area completely for ourselves. The kitchen is well equipped and the atmosphere of the gite is cozy with an authentic "Provence"-flair.
However, some things we didn´t find quite as pleasant, i.e.:
- When we arrived, we found the place quite dirty and somehow unprepared for our arrival.The terrace was covered with a lot of leaves and some dirt, the windows were quite dirty with cobwebs, the chairs of the dining room were located on the table, the floors were not properly cleaned, the beds were not prepared and some of the linens didn´t fit on one of the beds etc.
- Some of the kitchen equipment were heavily used, e.g. the filter coffee machine and the water heater were strongly calcified and didn´t work properly
- We had troubles with 3(!) of the four doors. The system didn´t work properly - one of them couldn´t be locked at all and the door handle of the main entrance always fell out when pulling it
- The sink in the bathroom was leaking
- There was a big box with brand new pads placed inside the house which we didn´t know what to do with (a couple of days later, we found some new lounge furnitures placed on the terrace which weren´t there before. Apparently the pads were for them).
...
We called the local contact to address at least the problems with the doors and the leaking sink. She came by really quickly and was very friendly - but she couldn´t help really. She told us that she would call someone next day, but nobody showed up.
Considered individually, all of it was not a big deal and wouldn´t really bother us if just one of it were the case. But summarized it somehow clouded the first impression and first day. You don´t want to start cleaning and fixing your holiday home after your arrival but rather expect the place to be prepared for your stay - and unfortunately it didn´t feel like that.
We decided to enjoy our vacation anyhow and after getting used to it, we really had some wonderful holidays in the Provence.
