About this property
Beautiful New Modern Home, Centrally Located, Pool, only 300m to beach
Casa Arena y Mar, completed in late-2018, is a 3BR/4BA home in the heart of the convenient J Section of Playa Guiones. Situated near the Harbor Reef Hotel and the Beach Dog Cafe, you will be a leisurely 4-minute stroll to the beach (300 meters). You can literally hear the waves rolling in from this property.
Casa Arena y Mar is part of the Nosara community in committing to encourage environmental practices. The home uses solar power for its electricity and has a saline pool. The construction materials and furnishings have been locally sourced, whenever possible. Guests are encouraged to recycle and be considerate of their use of water and electricity during their stay.
Designed to combine the luxury of indoor/outdoor living, the full glass and screen doors of the main living area can be either partially opened or completely disappear into the walls to create openness to the pool area, or kept shut to protect against the elements. This property is fully enclosed with native landscaping, mature trees, and a lush hillside behind the home which combine to provide a sense of serenity and seclusion. The large pool has a shallow area for young children or lounging lazily while sipping a cold drink, and several small waterfalls to add to the property's peaceful qualities.
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes stainless steel appliances and an induction range top (hot for the pan, cool to the touch, so safe for the kids!). Attention to detail including handmade Guanacaste wood furniture and accents, built by a local family, throughout the home; non-slip surfaces around the pool; unique stone sink basins; and Caesarstone countertops.
There are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, plus a main floor powder room. Each bedroom includes a ceiling fan, an en-suite bathroom, creating three Master suites, as well as its own air condition unit. The main floor Master steps out to the pool in the front. In addition to the indoor shower, you can step out into a large, outdoor garden shower that is fully enclosed. Upstairs, the second Master suite opens to a French balcony overlooking the pool, while the third Master suite opens to a balcony overlooking the hillside jungle.
The indoor dining room seats eight and has a dramatic two-story ceiling height. The outdoor dining area and outdoor bbq kitchen were renovated in 2021. Casa Arena y Mar has a covered outdoor dining area for 8 people and a covered bbq area including custom tile, a new gas grill, wine refrigerator, open shelving and sink for all of your entertaining needs. You can be dining poolside listening to the waterfalls.
A new outdoor lounge area was added in 2021, with built-in cushioned seating, a large terrazzo table, and overhead lighting, all surrounded by the jungle and mature landscaping. This private area is a great place to socialize, kick up your feet and enjoy a glass of wine after a day at the beach. Also, a covered, private yoga shala that overlooks the jungle was added in 2021. The yoga shala is completely private where you will only hear the sounds of birds and monkeys as you focus on your daily yoga or meditation practice. A wicker hammock hangs in the corner of the shala for a perfect spot to read or relax.
The location of Arena y Mar could not be better! Whether it is a day at the beach, practicing yoga at Harmony Hotel or Bodhi Tree, walking to shops, or dining at your favorite restaurant, you can throw on your flip flops, leave your car parked, and enjoy the tranquility of Playa Guiones. Pura Vida!

While Costa Rica does have many of the conveniences you are accustomed to having at home, navigating a foreign country can feel a bit tricky. For that reason, we’re here to help curate your experience and itinerary to be the best it can be. From booking surf lessons and ATV tours to arranging your rental car or shuttle, to organizing your private chef and massages, we’re here for you.
Security
Nosara is absolutely a wonderful community and we can't wait to share all the good things that it has to offer. We care a great deal about our clients and for that reason, we also want to make you aware of one of the véry few downsides to Nosara: petty theft (they usually are out for your cash and your belongings as in any other tourism area). We would like to understand the dynamics of the group, so we can take care of you, put you in the right house and downsize the chance of you having any issues with this. Please feel free to inquire for more information. If not included, the property manager can arrange a dinner guard at an additional cost. The guest is responsible for securing and protecting their personal belongings and valuables left in and around the Property and for ensuring that all security features available are enabled every time they leave the Property.
Internet and Electricity
In the jungle, the utility infrastructure is unpredictable. There may be power, phone, and/or internet outages and interruptions in service. The Guest should not leave electronics plugged in during rainstorms. There is no guarantee that the Internet will always work. We have an excellent mobile phone signal with Kolbi and data rates are very reasonable. If internet access is always crucial, we encourage you to bring an unlocked phone and get a Kolbi SIM card.
Water
During the dry season months of December through April, the Property may have low water pressure due to temporary or scheduled water outages. We will do our best to notify Guests of any interruptions in water service or regularly scheduled water shut-offs.
Jungle creatures
We make every effort to present a well-cleaned home for your arrival. However, it is a jungle out there and nature can move in at any time. The Homeowners and Property Manager are not responsible for the fumigation or removal of insects that may enter the Property during the Guest's stay. Even though the house is regularly fumigated on a maintenance schedule, expect to see ants, beetles, spiders, and other assorted insects year-round. Bugs are especially active during the rainy season, May through November. Every effort is made to present a clean home at Check-In. To minimize the impact of bugs on your vacation, please keep food wrapped, store it in the refrigerator, clean kitchen counters and screen doors closed at all times (particularly at night).
Refunds
No refunds will be given for natural disasters, water outages, internet outages, security breaches, personal property losses, or nearby construction noise. This area is a rapidly growing community. There is no guarantee there will not be construction nearby.
Insurance
We encourage all Guests to purchase Traveler Insurance in case of unforeseen circumstances, accidents, or other issues that may prohibit Guests from travelling or fulfilling Rental terms.
