Goats
Feel free to visit the goats if you'd like! Pets
The barn house is pet-free to help keep it clean and hypoallergenic. You will probably see two adorable cats out roaming the grounds - Shino and Miss Marilyn. They love to be petted and held, but please don't invite them inside. They have been loving the great outdoors for over 15 years now! You might also see Mark or Katrina out walking Blu and Jax. Although they are very loving, it is best to admire their cuteness from afar since they are puppies and still learning manners.

Perfect weekend getaway
We came here to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary so guests ranged from age 6 to early 70s and there was something for everyone. The kids loved playing in the creek, greeting the goats and looking for bugs. The property is close to great hiking and the downtown Asheville area. We enjoyed several trails in the Pisgah

Fabulous Celebration Retreat
Oh my stars, where to begin? Remodeled barn that is every bit as twee as you think it is, in all the best ways. So many sweet touches - from the s’mores welcome kit to the abundant spice cabinet, stock of games in and out, excellent water pressure, and luxurious comforters that just seemed to hug you to sleep at night. Some things to be aware of: it’s tucked off the road a teeny bit and the small wooden bridges are a little off putting to a city slicker 😉 Look for the red house shaped mailbox and keep going left. Very comfortably slept our party of 4 middle aged women with two fulls up and two queens down. Did not investigate sofa bed options - a slight stretch for our group, but maybe not for the younger travelers. Group seating inside for meals is a bit of a challenge, but we made it work. Ran into Mark and his sister and brother in law, very very open to feedback and just sweet as pie. Flat Rock may be the name of the town but the terrain is not - the property is a mostly gentle slope, but something to prepare for if you are balance challenged as I am. Goats are very friendly and super hungry. All in all, it was delightful and our spirits are restored

A Truly Unique Experience!
Our group of seven wanted something different than the ordinary cabin. A rustic feel on the outside yet all modern amenities on the inside. Comes fully stocked which was a welcoming surprise. Feeding the goats and watching the chickens and ducks waddle around was so much fun. Making s'mores over the fire outside was wonderful! It felt like we were out far in the woods yet only minutes from town. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure were very close. The hosts were very responsive whenever we had a question. Would definitely stay again!

Peaceful Easy Feeling
We enjoyed our stay so much. it was a great opportunity to spend time with our adult children and relax. We spent lots of time on the porch in the rocking chairs and time in the river stacking rocks and even had a duck race! Hendersonville and Asheville were close and we enjoyed time in both places. We would definitely recommend this property!!

HOSTS
The hosts are a friendly couple named Mark and Katrina. They have been happily married for 18 years, and are thrilled to now live on their own little slice of heaven. They recently bought this dream property in the summer of 2018. They are excited to grow some green thumbs, and have already started their hobby farm with chickens, ducks and three miniature goats! Hosts' 1920's brick home is approximately 200 feet away from the barn house, mostly hidden behind trees. You might see them out tending to the farm animals or walking their dogs, but they are very respectful of your privacy.

Why they chose this property

THE SMALL TOUCHES
Inside you'll find fun farmhouse decor showcasing barn animals, tasteful lamps, and whitewashed details against crisp, fresh water blue walls. Every bedroom comes with plush linens, an extra blanket, alarm clock, tissues, clothes hangers, trash can, and ceiling fan. Each side of the bed has an end table, lamp, and USB charging port. A Smart TV is upstairs in the living room with complimentary Netflix and ability to login to other personal streaming accounts. DVD player is provided, as well various movies. Coffee tables lift up for easy dining on each couch. Both the upstairs and downstairs have hair dryers and ironing boards with irons. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is supplied, and there are several full-length mirrors. Plush white bath towels are provided, as well large outdoor towels for the river and picnics. Many board games and card games are provided for entertainment. Giant Jenga and cornhole is available for outdoor fun, as well as a lasso with practice steer head. Unique moonshine bar on porch provides extra seating and is a terrific backdrop for photos. Fire pit includes chairs with side tables to easily place your drinks or smores ingredients. Gas grill includes propane and grilling utensils.

PARK-LIKE SETTING
The River's Call Inn is on a 10.5 acre park-like setting that includes river frontage, towering trees, and forested mountains. Have fun exploring the grounds! You'll find free-roaming chickens and ducks, adorable miniature goats, and two sweet outdoor cats! Depending on the season you'll find blueberries, mulberries, peaches, cone flowers, mint, sage, shiitake mushrooms, morel mushrooms, giant hibiscus, colorful Japanese maple trees, wildflowers and more. Some of the local wild critters include trout, crawfish, fireflies, turtles, wild turkeys, ducks, squirrels, deer, ground hogs, rabbits, and beautiful birds. Keep an eye out for the morning heron by the river. Rare but possible bear, snake, and bob cat sightings as well!
