Melanie Gowen was born and raised in Washington, DC, but she has always had a love for coastal New England where her lifelong love for real estate began. She graduated from National Cathedral School in 2005 and from Cornell University in 2009 with a BS in Interior Design and Business Strategy. While at Cornell she studied International Marketing and Wines in Florence, Italy and was on the Sailing Team. After college, Melanie worked in financial consulting and gained experience in mortgage banking and investment strategy.
Going from managing investment assets for clients, she returned to her architectural roots and founded Melanie Gowen Design, a property development and design firm. She specializes in full-scope investment property design development and lives in Nantucket, fulfilling a lifelong dream to live on an island, amongst the most beautfiul properties in the world. She especially loves the melding of historic preservation and innovation for today's lifestyle, which present unique challenges for constriction.
Melanie's passion for "placemaking" incorporates marketing, design, and branding strategy into the process - which results in an unparalleled, personalized experience. She advises clients on unique investment and design opportunities, and she can pull together the perfect team for any project. Detail-oriented and also a big picture thinker, Melanie is responsive, creative, organized, and adept at thinking both imaginatively and strategically.
Melanie loves being out in nature running, hiking, playing tennis, sailing or anything on the ocean. Her favorite Nantucket beaches are Cisco, Washing Pond, and Quidnet, and she makes bluefish pate from scratch. Melanie enjoys being an active member of the community, volunteering for the Nantucket Preservation Trust, Nantucket Arts Council, Housing Nantucket, and Petticoat Row Women in Business.
Melanie Gowen is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson at William Raveis Nantucket in the state of Massachusetts.
