We spent a wonderful few days walking the coast path around Mousehole, and Vivien’s cottage was quite simply the perfect base for us. Comfy beds, modern kitchen, ample seating and just a few steps from all that Mousehole had to offer. We would definitely recommend the cottage if you’re looking for a cosy Mousehole bolthole.

We had a lovely stay in Mousehole. The cottage was perfect in every way, very clean on arrival, well equipped and close to all the local amenities. All the rooms were beautifully decorated with a coastal theme throughout which gave it a lovely holiday feel. Another great bonus was the two upstairs bathrooms, which seems hard to find in Mousehole. The harbour, restaurants, shops and galleries are all just a short walk away. It’s a great place to stay and the location is perfect for exploring the south of Cornwall.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location - just a few minutes walk to the harbour. The cottage is spacious, clean, comfortable and has everything we needed. Mousehole is delightful & within easy reach of spectacular beaches, the South West Coastal path and lots of ancient sites. Communication with the host was easy and a response to any of our queries was immediate. Our second visit to this property so what better recommendation!

Unfortunately the cottage was really cold when we arrived. All heaters bar the lounge ones were turned off & lounge set at only 14. There was no sign of the information book for the cottage. We spent ages searching for this. In the end I rang the housekeeper's landline number as per the literature on the final advice from VRBO, as the mobile number quoted only had 10 digits. Could only leave a message. In the end I messaged the host direct who advised the housekeeper mentioned in the literature no longer worked for her! She would arrange for the new cleaner to bring round the book. This didn't arrive til the next day. There was no welcome gift at all as per the book (when it arrived the next day). The wi-fi number in the book (when it arrived) was wrong The cottage needs a serious deep clean. This comment appears many times in the 2 visitors' books left in the lounge. It is a great conversion but cold/unwelcoming & the list of dos & donts did not help.

Lovely cottage

The cottage was in a lovely location especially as my brother in law is unwell and can't walk too far. The weather was mixed but we lit the fire and watched the rugby. The kitchen was well equipped and overall the cottage had everything we needed.

Christmas Stay

A wonderful Christmas getaway in a perfectly prepared cottage by the sea. The house had plenty of room for four adults and the kitchen was very well equipped, allowing us to cook for ourselves over the Christmas period. It was warm and cosy, especially with the lights of Mousehole shining outside. We would highly recommend the property to anyone considering a visit to the area.

Lovely charming cottage in the most ideal location

We recently stayed for a few days in this lovely cottage, in the most ideal location. For a small village there are plenty of great dining options and shops that are all just a short walk away. The cottage matched the description perfectly and had such a homely feel to it. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Staying in Mousehole

Staying in Mousehole was lovely. The location of the cottage was fab, a short stroll to the harbour - perfect. However, the cottage was only ok. On arrival we found the oven in a terrible condition, which we had to clean before using. The cottage was dusty and we wondered if it needed a deep clean before the season got going. It felt in need of some TLC.I don't think we would stay there again. A shame.

Check in was easy and the instructions were clear and concise, you need to be prepared to do a quick drop off and then go look for parking. On entering the cottage we were thrilled to find a cozy quaint place with all you need for a family stay. Unfortunately some things really let it down………the cleanliness is awful, the kitchen worktops had coffee grounds and crumbs on them and the floor in need of a good mop (coffee/tea stains all around the bin area). All the cupboards were dirty inside and we had to wash cups/crockery before we could use them as smelled musty and felt greasy. The toaster was not only filthy and full of crumbs but also rusty inside……..I refused to clean or use it. The lounge/diner is lovely but the floor area, especially in the corners full of dust and cobwebs really let it down. Upstairs is beautifully decorated but again the cobwebs around the ceiling, in the lamps and under beds (our suitcases came out filthy)really let it down. The en-suite skylight was open and covered in cobwebs which had definitely accumulated over more than a couple of days. The sight of someone else’s hair in the shower tray was absolutely disgusting, not just one strand and all around the tray! So again more cleaning before we could use it. I didn’t take any photos as to be honest was too horrified to think about it but the cleaning is something that needs serious attention………especially as the check out instructions specify that you need to leave it clean.

Lovely Mousehole

Had a really lovely stay at this homely, cosy cottage. It is within easy walking distance of the harbour and the village is lovely and friendly. Be prepared to find and pay for parking every day, we were out of season and it was still problematic some days. Great base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

A very nice stay

We had a very comfortable stay in this flat. Everything worked very well and the rooms were clean. Only there was a little too much dust seen in some areas of the house and the cupboards could have been cleaner. Do not let it become worse because this house is such a wonderful place but it sometimes seems to need a more intensive cleaning. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were great. There was enough space for our luggage. Parking is a little problem but we found out that there is free parking up the hill about 10 minutes to walk. For unloading and loading the luggage into the car you can park in front of the house.

Why they chose this property

We had been talking about buying a holiday home abroad for years but never managed to find the time to really look at all of the potential locations.

In May 2004 we took a short break to Mousehole with the kids and after just a few days we felt so at home we said ‘Why are we looking abroad when we have found Mousehole and Cornwall?’

When we decided to take the plunge and look for a home in Mousehole we had very specific requirements. We wanted somewhere that was cosy enough for 2 and yet with enough accommodation for our two boys and their friends, all of whom, we were assured, would want to join them! We wanted all of the traditional cottage features but with modern accommodation and facilities, close to the harbour and with a view to the sea. To much to ask? Almost but then we found 5 Regent Terrace, which we have appropriately re-named Seamore Cottage.

Almost immediately we had enquiries about holiday letting but we decided that as this was to be our home too, we would spend about 6 months re-fitting the cottage to a standard that we, and others, would appreciate.

What makes this property unique

Seamore Cottage, which has been the home of Mousehole mariners for over 150 years, is about 80 odd paces from the harbour front and there are a number precious parking spaces close by. The cottage was completely rebuilt in 1999 transforming the accommodation but retaining the original features.

I try to go down to Mousehole whenever there is a vacancy and I have fallen in love with waking up in the morning and sitting on the window seat with a cup of tea in the front bedroom and watch the fisherman go out.

Mousehole is simply beautiful and tiny as it’s name suggests. Known as one of the loveliest coastal villages in England it’s granite cottages, with unique slate roofs cluster around the harbour, along narrow streets and cobbled lanes. The pretty harbour, where colourful, bobbing fishing boats glitter in the crystal clear Cornish sunlight, has a safe sandy beach, ideal for kids of all ages enclosed by a granite harbour wall with the smallest of openings onto Mounts Bay.

The village has a couple of handy shops, a post office and newsagents, some fine restaurants and a wonderful pub, The Ship Inn, where a warm welcome, good service and hearty meals are assured to locals and visitors alike. Mousehole is surrounded by a lovely coastline, designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ by the National Trust. There are two more beaches close by, with rock pools that will keep youngsters entertained for hours.
