Wonderful place for a Finger Lakes getaway with a great beach that we and our dog loved and nearby hiking, wineries and restaurants. Debra was fantastic, checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. The main house was clean and well equipped with high-speed wifi for the couple of meetings I wasn't able to get out of. Highly recommended.
We had a family reunion with teenagers, young ones and adults. We enjoyed putting our boat up on the boat lift, the kayaks and water fun. The house met all of our expectations.
We absolutely loved our stay at the property. The only complaint was the weather! However we were nice and cozy inside and had a wonderful weekend celebrating our son who graduated from Ithaca College
We had a lovely weekend getaway. The house was very clean and had everything we needed to unwind. Absolutely no complaints at all and can’t wait to go back!
Our stay was wonderful! House was immaculate. The only tough thing to get used to was the sulfur smell from the water but that is to expected with a lakehouse. A beautiful spot.

Thank you so much for staying with us! We can actually get that treated if we know about it. The water is regularly treated but sometimes needs a little extra love. Thank you for the feedback! Never hesitate to tell a host about things like that. 🙂
The say at Mia's was wonderful. The lake was surprisingly quite both at the beach and on the water. We all had a great stay and hope to come back again in the future. Thank you for hosting us!
The location is wonderful! The property is beautiful! It feels like you're in a tree house on the main deck. We enjoyed the lake - swimming and kayaking! Lots of space...a perfect place for a stress-free vacation! Thank you!
Our extended family stayed at Mia’s lake house for the memorial day weekend to celebrate our daughter’s graduation from college. The house was beautiful, clean and welcoming. Used the kayaks and enjoyed the lake thoroughly. The host was welcoming and made our stay very easy and memorable.
This house was absolutely incredible. The view of the lake from the house deck, boat dock, and private beach were breathtaking. There was plenty of space for all of our guests and the house was extremely clean upon arrival. We also loved the kayaks and paddleboards provided by the owner. This added an extra element of fun on the lake! I would highly recommend this property to anybody thinking of visiting Cayuga Lake, NY.
This was our first time in the Finger Lakes. We were thrilled with this house, and it turned out to be all that we needed and then some. The location was beautiful, the view was amazing, and Debra Wallace was incredibly responsive. When we asked questions, she was back to us within an hour in rare cases, and within minutes in most cases. I can heartily recommend this property to anyone!
This beautiful, private, lake property, with 3 buildings that added so much to the experience, was perfect for kids, adults and 2 dogs! Lots to do on the water , kayaking, swimming, ;lots of sea glass to find and great fishing off the boat house dock, The house has charm and comfort as well as everything we needed. We did bring a couple of extra fans and our own coffee machine, other than that the
house was well stocked with bedding, towels, cute-kitchen with everything you would need.
Also a washer and dryer was an added bonus . A great family friendly place where family memories were made!
We will definitely return and highly recommend.
The location was undeniably the best part of this rental. We spent a majority of our time outside on the private beach, which offered plenty of space for our extended family of 10 to spread out and enjoy kayaking, fishing and just relaxing by the lake together. It was a true slice of paradise, and with close proximity to the state parks and Ithaca there was plenty to do away from the house when we wanted to change things up.
The house itself was well-maintained with a few updates in the bathrooms and kitchen and loaded with plenty of outdoor space to sit and play a game or enjoy the views of the lake with your morning coffee. The primary bedroom provided plenty of space. The guest bedrooms were a bit cramped and smaller than expected, providing little storage or space beyond a bed. Small box fans were present in each room which provided plenty of airflow during our time. However, The lack of air conditioning could pose a challenge during a warm spell as we learned on our last night. A mini split on the second floor is recommended. Water pressure was also a bit inconsistent in some of the bathrooms. The beach house was an excellent addition that offered additional space for our family though it was in need of a little maintenance. Overall, the experience was great. The host was highly responsive and incredibly receptive to our feedback. Would highly recommend and would absolutely stay again.

Thank you so much for staying with us and thank you for your kind words. We especially appreciate how clean you left the house. We are sorry that you were disappointed with the size of the bedrooms and the lack of air-conditioning. We hope that it’s clear from the listing that the rooms are small based on the pictures and that we don’t have air conditioning per our listing. We are working on an air conditioning solution, but there is not large enough external wall space for a split or and the house does not have ducts for central. We stay at the house with some frequency as it is our personal vacation home and we rarely find the lack of air-conditioning to be an issue, however, the past few summers have been warmer than average, and it is on our radar. The house is on a well system so does not have the water pressure that would come with municipal water. Thank you so much for staying with us!
We have been staying here almost every summer for over 15 years! This is an incredible place to stay and accomodates large groups. We usually have 10-12 people each year and it works great. The views are incredible as well. One of our favorite things is having coffee every morning on the front porch. We can't wait for next year!
We rented this house for our family of 7and dog to stay for my nephews wedding at The Taughannock Inn which was only a mile down the road! Only problem was I wish everyone could have stayed longer! We had so much fun down at the lake! Between the dock, the floating raft, the kayaks and stand up boards everyone truly enjoyed the lake. There are so many spots for larger groups to enjoy and the house is adorable. Everything you need is provided and it was such a comfortable home.
I can’t recommend this place enough; I booked the property for a weekend girls trip, and it was amazing. being right on the water was such a bonus, and I loved the layout. the main Lakehouse had great views from the deck, and being able to start the day there with a coffee and conversation was a major highlight. the location was convenient, specifically for the proximity to Taughanock falls and Ithaca, and many great wineries. I would love to come back in summer to experience the full lake life.
The house comfortably fit 8 people and we really enjoyed the expansive deck space and direct access to the lake! Would love to come back when it’s a bit warmer to experience all the house has to offer!
The house was exactly what we were looking for and would definitely stay again. Close to grocery stores, taughannock falls state park and of course you can’t beat the direct lake access!

About the host
Hosted by Debra Wallace
Many years ago a young couple bought a thousand acres of land in Texas because God wasn't making any more land. They brought their children up going to the ranch in Bastrop, Texas where they explored the creek, tended the cows, rode horses and raised chickens.
As the children got older, one decided to keep her portion of the ranch but others had moved away. Their daughter, Marie, decided to trade her acreage in Texas for a slice of Cayuga Lake. It was her favorite place on earth and for over 20 years she poured her heart and soul into renovating the house to make it more comfortable for guests and she spent as much of her summers there as she could.
In 2020, Marie (known as Mia to her eight grandchildren) tragically lost her life to ovarian cancer and passed the lake house on to her daughter, Debra. Debra and her family continue the tradition of spending summers on the lake and sharing the magic of Mia's Lakehouse with many guests throughout the rental season.
Why they chose this property
It's difficult to find a more private beachfront while staying close to attractions such as downtown Ithaca, Cornell, Ithaca College, Taughannock Falls and the many state parks in the area. Explore everything there is to offer nearby or stay put for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, or enjoying the view at Mia's Lakehouse.
