Beautiful lake views, amazing location, modern, comfortable and peaceful. The perfect lake living while still minutes from town, Cornell and Ithaca College. Watch the sunrise over the lake on the deck. This is a three story home with 3 bedrooms, a bonus room, 2 full baths and and 1/2 bath. Our house has a modern floor plan and beautiful, high-end construction and details. Special features include a stoned faced fireplace, striking wide plank floors, and a modern kitchen with modern appliances. First-floor full bath and guest room. Upstairs you will be delighted with the master suite with more gorgeous lake views. The lower parking area is close to the front door compared to most other West Shore properties. Private lake frontage and dock. Kayaks, Canoe. Fast internet service with wifi, A/C, Washer Dryer, Roku TV, DVD player, gas fireplace, wine cooler.

Reasons to rent this house:

1) The single-family house is directly on Cayuga Lake with amazing views from the deck and dock, near wineries, and also only 5 minutes from downtown Ithaca restaurants and shopping, and less than 15 min. from the colleges.

2) In summer, you can drive close to the front door, no major staircase to the house (as is common on Cayuga Lake). However, you must be able-bodied and sure-footed. There is a path with a series of concrete steps (a total of 21). In winter, we have a new staircase from the road with 52 steps. The house is not appropriate for anyone with walking disabilities (sorry).

3) There are 2.5 bathrooms.

4) Two kayaks on the property, a canoe, private dock.

5) The house is big enough for two families to share. We have 3 bedrooms and a bonus room (with a sleeper sofa), plus a sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress in the living room.

6) Our house is equipped with a high chair, a pack-n-play, an infant bath, and myriad toys, books, and games.

7) We are powered by off-site solar power.

Who Can Rent:
The house is not appropriate for loud/late-night parties. Also, sorry, the house is not handicapped accessible.

All adult guests staying at the house must sign our license agreement and agree to our house rules.

With respect to all Ithaca lakehouses and to enjoy peace and quiet, our property is steep and away from the road. There is a long staircase to the house from the upper driveway with 52 steps. The path from the lower parking is relatively flat. All tenants and guests must be able to navigate the stairs with ease. Unfortunately, it is not handicapped accessible. We do not have a grass yard.

Winter: Our house is a real house that is winterized and you can set the thermostat to whatever is comfortable. We do not always plow or shovel the lower driver in winter. Winter tenants should plan to walk from the upper parking to the house.

Great location for our stay. Close to Ithaca, wineries, waterfalls and other activities. House was clean and well equipped. Great park and dog park just down the street. Like others noted, the house does not have a yard for a dog to run-around but has space for the early morning or late night business break. Good fishing right off the dock - just realize there are stairs to get to the water (they are in great shape). Owner provided quick and friendly communication. Would stay again.

Amazing Thanksgiving

Peace on Cayuga Lake and right near town!

We stayed here for a family reunion in Ithaca and the house was beautiful! The large decks with amazing views of the lake were so relaxing and the dock access for early morning paddling was a huge plus. We loved our stay and enjoyed grilling and cooking for our family. The kitchen was very well stocked and the living space was large and comfy! We’d stay again!

Beautiful home!

We had a short, but lovely stay. The house was spacious and very clean. Beautiful view of the lake. Great communication with the host. We appreciated the notes taped up around the house with info/instructions for various things, like how to lock certain doors, or the contents of each kitchen cabinet/drawer. We were there during winter and parked in the upper parking area given the snow. There is a long staircase from the upper lot, which is clearly communicated in the posting, so we knew to expect it. We actually enjoyed the walk down. It is not handicap or stroller accessible though. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!

Enjoyable week overlooking the lake

House is perched above lake on a steep hill. Beautiful views of the sun rising over the lake. Not for those afraid of stairs, however :) House was clean and had a lot of different areas for kids and adults to hang out, play games, watch tv, etc when you’re relaxing. Also close proximity to lots of hiking and biking. (There’s a great trail across the street from the house)

Have to drive everywhere

The house is on a busy street. You must drive to get anywhere including somewhere to walk your dog. The house is lovely and well maintained. There is a rusty pipe under the corner of the dock that one of us cut themselves on while swimming in the lake and the steps leading into the lake are very slippery

Very nice house with an amazing view

Stayed at this house for 3 nights and have no complaints whatsoever. It is a very nice spacious house with an amazing view. The house has a modern layout and is equipped with all the basic appliances. Only thing it didn't have is a blender but that wasn't a deal breaker for us. The owner is responsive and willing to answer any questions you have. Would recommend this place for anyone staying in Ithaca.

The house was very nice but would recommend the deck amd staors be updated.

The house was very nice inside and looked exactly lile the pictures. The stairs and deck are worn and could use power wash. The brush needs to be cut back so that you are able to have a clearer view of lake.

Comfortable, pristine, spacious and beautiful!

I rented this home twice with my extended family and dog. The home is exceptionally clean, spacious and cozy. The view is fantastic! The owner was very helpful with answering questions promptly. At first site the steps and parking may seem overwhelming however they are absolutely manageable even for my mother with a cane. I highly recommend 492980.

Lake house paradise

We stayed at Carolyn's lake house and we could not be more pleased. The house was as advertised and as pictured. It really is luxurious and comfortable. The dock created a little inlet for swimming and enjoying the lake. The kitchen is well furnished and the grill connected to the house's gas line made it very easy to make great meals. What's really great about the house is how close it is to downtown Ithaca (only a couple of miles). Thank you for sharing your lovely home Carolyn.

A GEM ON THE LAKE

Wow, What a great location for an intimate wedding. The house is not only functional but beautiful. Right out of a House and Garden Magazine! Beautifully furnished yet not over-done. Even our dog was welcome. And of course its all about the view. Spectacular sunrises, watching the rowers race by, just relaxing by the water. Thank you so much for sharing this property with us we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. P.S. And Ithaca is an amazing, vibrant town. We WILL be back!

Lakefront with character and charm!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed a few nights on the banks of Cayuga Lake, while being very close to Ithaca and surrounding natural areas of interest. We loved the warm wood floors and overall timeless character of the home. Great views of the lake including awesome master bedroom views as well. The outdoor stairs and decking all appeared recently updated and provided good access to the dock and water. We had pretty decent weather to fish a bit off the dock with the kids, but it was too chilly to get out in the lake. Communication with Carolyn was quick and very helpful. The house was very clean and well maintained. Two local spots we enjoyed were Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Gorge (and we would have loved nearby Watkins Glen had we come when the gorge trail was open). Overall, we all enjoyed it here and would definitely book again.

Lake Perfection!

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Carolyn's house. It was clean, beautiful, and the perfect place for a relaxing getaway- the pictures posted are just as the house is in person. The house faces Cayuga lake, and you could take the views in from pretty much anywhere in the house, including the master bedroom upstairs- it was lovely to wake up and see the sun rising each morning right from bed. It was in a great location- close to town and the wineries but still far enough away to feel like you were escaping it all, and had an incredible dog park a minute down the road- as our dog vacationed with us, this was a great addition. Carolyn sent a welcome packet with instructions and local recommendations- the instructions were thorough and her recommendations spot on- we went to Just a Taste for dinner and tried almost everything on the menu! Also, Americana Winery has an impressive little restaurant (we ate there twice, once for lunch and once for brunch). We cannot wait to go back to our new favorite vacation getaway!

Wonderful family vacation

I've been dreaming of returning to Ithaca with my family for years now and this house was the perfect spot to explore the area. The layout was perfect for my parents, husband, kids (8 & 3) and I. We took the 2 bedrooms and bath upstairs and my parents had their own bedroom and private bath on the middle level. The powder room was a welcome bonus! Kids loved the logos we found in the closet and claimed the basement room for a play area. Kitchen and grill on the deck were well equipped for the meals we cooked in (its easier with kids not to have to eat out for every meal). There were even "staples" in the kitchen like sugar and cooking oil. I loved the gorgeous views of the lake and my alma mater from the deck and the dock. Though a long way down to the water, it was worth the trip to sit on the dock and feel the breeze. Also enjoyed using the canoe and kayak. Location was awesome. Just far enough from town to feel relaxing but close enough to drive down for ice cream or a Wegman's run. Also a good starting point for Cayuga and Seneca lake wineries. And speaking of running, the Cayuga Waterfront Trail at Cass Park allowed me to get my training runs in. Had hoped to run straight from the house, but cars drive really fast on Taughannock Blvd so I drove down to the Park. Tried to pick up the "Black Diamond Trail" but couldn't find it... next time. Kids enjoyed a morning at the Science Center, the carousel at Stewart Park, and of course all the waterfalls. Can't wait to return to Ithaca!!!

My mom and I had an amazing time in Ithaca! The house was beautiful. We used the kitchen, bbq, decks and game room. We had hoped to use the dock and toys. But the weather had other plans. Next time we are back we will hope for warmer weather! But the rain did not limit the view. Oh my the view! My daughter and a couple friends came by for dinner one night. It was the highlight for them and for us. They are in crew and their daily routine is to row out to this stretch of the lake. So fun for them to see it from a different perspective. And for mom and me to be able to be a part of it. I look forward to coming back! But hopefully for longer. A great spot for families!

Beautiful Lake house! The view of lake was unbelievable. Beds were comfortable and all linens we needed and more. Kitchen had every appliance needed and everything else for cooking. Dock and boats were great too.

Perfect 2 days

At a previous stay at a different location whenwe arrived things were not like the pictures on line. When we arrived here everything was just like it was described and what the pictures showed.........even better. It was my 4 sisters and myself that enjoyed those 2 days. If the only thing we could complain about is the need for new toilet seats and moving the toilet paper closer then you know the home was near perfect.

Pretty close to perfect

Stayed for 3 nights with friends. Beautiful house with a great view of and access to the lake. The master bedroom was spacious and comfortable for sleep. We made use of the grill and the various outside seating.The only downside was the early morning rowing team practice that was easily heard with the way sound travels across water.

We are an Ithaca family of five. We lived on Cayuga Lake at our other listing, 889 Taughannock until our youngest was born. That property has been a vacation rental since 2001. We purchased this house because it is absolutely magnificent.

We work hard every week to maintain our properties. We replace fixtures and appliances often. Our cleaners do a great job.

Why they chose this property

This house is only one mile past the Hanger Theater so it is very close to downtown Ithaca but it is a world apart. We are near Cornell University and Ithaca College (3 miles). We are near the Finger Lakes Wine Trail. We are near Taughannock Park and wonderful hiking trails. However, the road is not appropriate for dog walking so you will want to drive to the dog park at Cass Park.

What makes this property unique

Our new two story deck is a stunner. You can relax just outside the living room with easy outdoor dining. We have two kayaks and canoes on the property including life vests in many sizes. You can park your boat at the dock. Inside we have gorgegous wood floors and stone work.
