About this property

The Wandering Bear Cabin is one of Three rental cabins on our property that is not a log cabin, the Wandering Bear Cabin has one bedroom and one bath, a full kitchen and a large living room. It is very comfortable for two people. The front porch is furnished for dining and relaxing, and is enclosed for your privacy. This cabin has a washer and dryer. The 'Wandering Bears' Cabin is pet friendly. This cabin was originally built in the early 1940's to house the camp counselors when camp "Tally-Ho!" was on the property . The owners love bears (real and plush) and love to travel, so the name is for everyone that shares our passion for both.

Couple's Getaway

Lovely cabin. We loved the hot tub and decor. Cabin was clean. We were not informed that the lake would be drained. A few key selling point of cabin were that it sat near lake and could use kayaks for free on lake. Since lake was drained kayaks could not be used and view was not nice. This would have been okay however it seems that we paid a lot considering the lake was drained and unable to use kayaks. It would seem that price would have been adjusted for this. Other than that, the cabin was very nice and clean. Location was perfect, near everything. Just feel like we paid too much for there to not be a lake. And no notice of this prior to booking.

Comfortably rustic

My husband and I are Lake Lure residents who enjoy an occasional weekend away. Because we are also parents, we like to stay close to home. This cabin is perfect, comfortable, fun, and layed back. Just what we wanted thank you. We will definitely be booking again.

Needs a deep clean.

There were cobwebs every where, the walls, the ceiling, doorframes, window frames, decorations, every where! Everything in the kitchen need scrubbed so we washed what we used first. The laundry room had lots of dust bunnies around the baseboards. I hope the owner isn't paying for a lot of work that isn't happening. The cabin was very rustic, not a problem. It could be relatively cute but we were fixating on the lack of cleanliness. The location is wonderful, the neighborhood scenic. It could be a joy to spend time in. We didn't call when we got there because every day was very hectic, visiting family, so we tolerated it. I hope it gets the heavy cleaning it needs because it could be a nice place.
