Had a great time on Frye Island
We just got back from a week on Frye Island. This home was a great place to get away from it all. Quiet, clean, and close to many of the beautiful beaches nearby and the community center. We highly recommend renting this home. The owners were very responsive and helpful.

Island visit
Property was great space and location. We were early in the season but had expected it to be in better state of readiness for us. Felt like we were opening property for the season with grill and deck furniture which needed to be cleaned. Property needed some attention. Hosts were very easy to deal with.

About the host

My father and his best friend built our cottage in 1990! My family and I spent every summer on Frye Island and still do today. We have been renting our cottage for 13 years. My best childhood memories are from my summers on Frye Island! It is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing family vacation that you will remember forever!

Why they chose this property

Our previous renters love the open floor plan of our home. Our large kitchen features a table with seating for 8 adjacent to the open living room finished with beautiful hardwood floors.
Sebago Lake is the cleanest lake in Maine, 316 feet deep, spring fed, outstanding! Frye Island offers so much to do without leaving the island including boating, swimming, fishing, golf, biking, jogging, tennis, basketball, and much more!

What makes this property unique

Frye Island has been featured in many New England magazines and was referred to as a "temporary town" in Maine's DownEast Magazine in a July 2009 article. Renters are often amazed at how much Frye Island has to offer within its 1,000 acres. One of our renters from this past summer referred to the island as a "hidden gem."
Frye Island is Maine's only freshwater island community and the only town that completely shuts down for half the year. The fact that Frye shuts down for 6 months, that doesn't affect the popularity of Frye Island for the remainder of the year. Our population doubles during the peak summer months and weekends. Despite the small size of our island and that we have only been an independent town since 1999 we have many wonderful island traditions!
Frye Island became a town July 1, 1998, in addition to celebrating the independence of our country, we celebrate our own independence with many 4th of July activities including fireworks, a golf cart parade, the 1 mile, 5K, and marathon road race, a boat building contest and race, along with any other traditions loved by children and families!
