About this property
Peaceful Garden Oasis with Breakfast Provided
Immerse yourself in the idyllic experience of Hummingbird Haven and your private two-room suite in a 3-acre garden wonderland, resplendent with flowers and apple trees. Discover the best of both worlds--your own quiet, private haven in an enchanting setting--yet just a mile away from the charms of historic Mendocino and close to many natural wonders along the coast and inland. I aim to anticipate your every need to ensure a serene, tranquil stay. Here is your peaceful oasis to rest, relax, and recharge. You have access to everything in your private two-room suite and on the grounds of Hummingbird Haven. I reside in an attached home, and like to welcome you in person.
Parking is conveniently available directly in front of property and gate. An easily accessible Level 2 car charger is provided for your plug-in hybrid or electric car in the same area. You are invited to sit on the deck to be mesmerized by the birds, while overlooking a flower-filled cottage garden, and a sweeping, tree-lined meadow. The gardener and I often work on the grounds in the afternoon, and maintain a very low-key presence.
The suite, with its cheerful, light-filled, east-facing sun room, has a well-appointed kitchenette (dishware, glassware, flatware, French press, microwave, convection oven, teapot, electric water kettle, mini-fridge). Before your visit, I will send you a list of all the breakfast delectables you can choose from and look forward to your response prior to arrival. Since I wrote a book about breakfast (MORNING FOOD from CAFE BEAUJOLAIS), I take this meal very seriously. And I even wash all your dishes!
You'll be just a mile up the hill from the historic coastal town of Mendocino, far enough away from the bustle and traffic for quiet and privacy, yet close enough to reach local activities and attractions within a few miles. You'll be barely a mile from Big River Beach. A 5-minute drive away, you'll find shops, restaurants, galleries, and various seasonal cultural offerings. From there, wend your way to the headlands, where you'll behold the dramatic glory of the Pacific Ocean. With 30+ years as a Mendocino resident, I know so much about the area and am delighted to share information and recommendations.

About the host
Hosted by Margaret Fox

I'm a longtime Mendocino resident who has lived on this property for 30+ years. With its heirloom apple orchard, colorful flower garden, and farmhouse on 3 acres, it's a comfortable and welcoming place to call home. For over 20 years, I owned the acclaimed Cafe Beaujolais in this lovely town, which showed me how hospitality and a generosity of spirit can create a deeply meaningful experience for everyone involved. Since 2011, hosting guests as a SUPERHOST has been my way to continue along this path, and I’ve loved it! I speak some French, German and Spanish.
Why they chose this property
Tree-lined and rural, this neighborhood is friendly and quiet. You can walk or drive into town, which can be bustling, and then come home to a peaceful setting.
What makes this property unique
The gardens and meadow are filled with long-established, as well as newer, plants and trees. From the large deck, you can view many different birds (and the occasional fox) enjoy the property; they call it home. Meanwhile, you can also appreciate the vista from the new deck, enjoy a glass of wine, a cup of tea, or a leisurely meal, and just let go of the constraints of your daily life.
