What a superb trip to relax and unwind! Can't wait to have you back to continue your crocheting! Our family is full of knitters and artists and love to hear you how you enjoyed your time. Glad you found the place peaceful and cozy :)
The house worked out fine for me and my 2 20-something sons although there were pretty much no frills - not even coffee. All we needed was a place to sleep before and after celebrating Thanksgiving with family in Caspar and so the house worked just fine.

Glad the place fit your needs for you and your sons and you had a nice time visiting family for Thanksgiving. Thank for your feedback, we do mention in the listing under amenities we have a drip coffee maker and to bring your own favorite coffee, as I know everyone has their own preferences. We have a well stocked kitchen with many baking dishes, pots/pans, cutlery, etc. I am sorry if it wasn't clear we don't stock food items, as we strive to ensure the cottage listing is as accurate as possible. Thank you for being our valued guest and taking time to leave a review of your stay!
Great location in a natural setting close to Mendocino. Kitchen has everything a cook needs. The nature preserve is wonderful and literally a few steps from the cottage. We were able to heat the place with the small propane stove, but it might be unsafe for toddlers, right in the living area.

We are always continuously working on the trails, as it is such a large place, and will continue to do so. Thank you!
We loved this place! Our small kids enjoyed exploring the property. We saw many types of wild mushrooms. Comfortable, clean. We will stay here again. Also, great location.
We had such an amazing time. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The pond on the property is so beautiful. The meadows were full of flowers. It was breathtaking. It's off the beaten path just outside of town.Well, it takes a few minutes to get to the harbor aIwould definitely recommend
Our stay at the Seaglass cottage was nothing short of magical! It is perfectly located where you are tucked away in the trees, and yet it's just a short drive into town or to the ocean! We loved the trails near the cottage and sipping our morning coffee with the dew of the day. We would recommend staying here to anyone who wanted a peaceful getaway where you can bathe in the forest, find all the mushrooms, and watch the waves crash.
The cottage was perfect for us!…We were traveling with long time friends who loved the property…He is a photo buff and really enjoyed a couple of hikes! It was a great competitive value for Mendocino!
Seaglass had everything we needed for a quiet and restful break. The cottage more than met our needs and the grounds were outstanding.
Peter was a great host and very responsive to our requests, responding within a few minutes when we needed something.
Would definitely love to come again!

peaceful getaway close to town and beautiful hikes and scenery
The cottage was perfect. Spacious living area and well equipped kitchen. The surrounding property was fun to explore with all the trails and ponds. Quiet and serene. I love the beautiful, rugged coastline, tall trees and cool spots to hike. The Mendocino Botanical gardens were incredible.
Everyhing was great like always. Perfect time of year, not many people at Big River Beach. 3rd time staying here, now all 3 cabins. All are great. Love the location, away from town

Hi Wade, We are thrilled you and your family stayed again and happy you enjoyed the property so much & had nice sunny days at Big River Beach. We hope to see you again in future! Thanks for being wonderful guests.
The cottage is exactly as photographed and described. Excellent location to all things of Mendocino and Fort Bragg. All necessities (extra blankets, towels, kitchen items, heaters, fans, etc) are provided. I appreciated the restaurant and attraction information. We hiked the property in late afternoon. Be cautious of the many banana slugs on the trail. If we visit this area again, i would surely choose this property.

About the host
Hosted by Peter Scott
In 2001, with two young kids, my wife and I found Mendocino Tranquility Meadows. This property has it all. We fell in love with the ponds, open meadow land, beautiful trees, trails and not to mention wild huckleberries. The former owner was a keystone in the community, teacher, and an avid preservationist and birder who wrote "99 Birds of the Mendocino Coast" and "The Natural History of Mendocino." And it shows. Each time a friend visits they are blown away by the treasures this property has to offer.
After giving up the office life, and much hard work rebuilding the dwellings, we started our family run business to open up the natural beauty to families like you. We hope you will create memories you will never forget, like watching ducks on the pond, osprey circle overhead, playing frisbee on the grass, and sipping a cup coffee with birds singing in the background. We can't wait for you to see it for yourself!
Why they chose this property
Recognized for the quality of its architecture and the integrity of its natural setting, charming Victorian-era buildings and rich history, Mendocino was named to the National Register of Historic Places, the only town on the California coast to be designated as such.
With a small town feel, yet vibrant and beautifully preserved, Mendocino is a set along a drop dead gorgeous natural surroundings with the town’s edge meeting the Pacific Ocean ocean. Rarely do rich architecture, beauty and nature merge with winding pathways and secluded beaches where visitors can take in the show of breaching whales and barking sea lions.
What makes this property unique
Mendocino Tranquility Meadows Nature Preserve has the best of both worlds - close proximity to the historic town of Mendocino and tucked only 2 miles away on a huge tract of land with ponds and meadows makes this the escape to nature you’ve been craving. You’ll find tranquility, adventure, and recharge yourself in the quiet and beauty.
