When we bought this duplex in March of 2017, my husband asked me what I liked best about it and 3 things came to mind right away. First and obviously, I love that its only 2 blocks to the beach. Second, although there are a lot of great places right here in Brigantine, there are quite a few world class restaurants with 5 star chefs, big name shows and a great night life to experience within a 10 minute drive - just over the bridge in Atlantic City. But mostly, I love the ‘beachy’ feel of this house. With 3 bedrooms and an updated open floor plan, its very bright and airy - a perfect family beach getaway. Having an outdoor shower, central air, a spacious kitchen, and a washer and dryer is nice too.
I also told him that 2 things surprised me the most - the beach and the sea wall. Our beach is incredible. It was just replenished this spring. So now we have about 50 yards of beach - just the right size - there’s plenty of room to spread out yet we don’t have to worry about moving all our stuff at high tide. Unlike the south end of Brigantine, we don’t have to walk thru 3 blocks of dunes to get to the surf either. We also have certified lifeguards at the beach during the summer. Then we have the sea wall - with old style streetlights lit all night - we often take late night strolls along the beach, sometimes stopping to sit on one of the many benches to enjoy a warm breeze.
There’s a cute little restaurant called ‘The Pirate’s Den’ right off the beach at 12th street. Being only 6 blocks away, we usually walk there for breakfast (they also serve lunch and dinner), then check out the beach on the way home, and make plans for the rest of the day.
There are several places to rent surf boards, paddle boards, kayaks, beach bicycles and wave runners 7 days a week. If there’s a golfer in the family, the 18 hole Scottish Links golf course is only a mile away. You can surf fish from the beach or you can charter a captain to take you out on the ocean to fish or look for dolphins. You can walk to the Birds Nest Lookout to check out some of the local birds or just go to see an awesome sunset.
I really think Brigantine is a hidden jewel on the Jersey Shore. It’s so much less crowded than places like Ocean City or Sea Isle City. I would venture to say its probably less crowed than just about any beach town in NJ, with just as much or more to do. And I cant get over how everyone here seems so relaxed, friendly and nice.
