About this property

Charming Private Cottage by the Beach

Sea View Mews is a newly-renovated cottage in a lush, private garden setting, just a few steps from the beach at Cambridge Beaches. It has one queen bedroom with en suite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine, a large living/dining room, a beautiful walled garden with sunken dining area and BBQ, outdoor shower and direct access to the beach. There is a charging point for electric cars and plenty of parking. There is super-fast Wifi, perfect for your work-from-home respite in Bermuda. We have incorporated green technology - solar power and water filtration system for a comfortable, guilt-free stay!

There is a bus stop and supermarket a short walk away, as well as the other amenities of Somerset Village. Guests can use the restaurants and spa at Cambridge Beaches hotel, a short walk through the garden gate. You can also rent water sports equipment, mopeds and electric cars close by.

You will have complete private use of the cottage and garden during your stay.

We have Abby the Dalmatian and Sammy the Cocker Spaniel on the property, so you must be dog-friendly :). They can be kept out of the private mews garden if you wish. We welcome you to bring your dog with you, but have to say no to cats.

We provide beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, snorkelling equipment, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, washer and dryer. There is air conditioning and fast WiFi (500mbps) and redundant capacity with two separate networks - one fibre, one wireless.

We are located in the heart of Somerset, in a private 2-acre property set back from the quiet Cambridge Road. The historic Naval Dockyard and the South Shore beaches are an easy bus ride away, or you can nip there on your moped or Twizy. Ferries run from nearby Watford Bridge to Hamilton in the morning and afternoon and from Dockyard all day.

We provide bicycles you can use to explore the area, including the nearby tranquil Railway Trail. We are both keen cyclists and can provide recommendations for places to visit by bicycle.

Jonah is an artist who has his studio nearby and you are welcome to visit. Jonah's work can be seen at Jonah-art

Sea View has an interesting history of creative people who have lived there which can be seen on our website at Sea View Bermuda.

We arrived by taxi in dreadful weather but Jo was there to greet us. As we had torrential rain the next day Jonah very kindly drove us to the supermarket for provisions which was greatly appreciated. The accommodation was simply beautiful and very comfortable with everything required, decorated with Jonah's stunning art work. The property is set in beautiful gardens which we really enjoyed and listening to the birds as well as visits from the three dogs. It also backs on to a beautiful beach. We were able to use the facilities at Cambridge Beach Resort next door also. The owners were always available if required.We would definitely recommend a stay here and certainly hope to visit again. We were very sad to leave.

We just returned from our third lengthy stay at Sea View Mews, a lovely one-bedroom unit situated a short walk from Mangrove Bay and Somerset Village. We keep returning because the rental property is magical—a comfortable abode with its own enclosed garden, which is itself contained by the expansive and beautifully maintained grounds of the main house. A two-minute walk from the bottom of your garden takes you to a gorgeous beach and splendid sea views. We are grateful to Jo and Jonah for being such wonderful hosts, and for creating such a wonderful refuge from the Canadian winter.

We had a perfect two week vacation at the mews cottage. It was very private and peaceful and yet our hosts, Jo and Jonah were always available when we had questions or needed advice. The property is beautiful and the rooms of the cottage are very generously sized with comfortable furnishings. The beach is just a few steps from the back gate and is very private. There is a very good grocery store and several bus stops within a short walk. We travelled the whole length of Bermuda from the dockyards to St George’s using the buses and ferries and enjoyed all of it. This cottage is now our go to spot in Bermuda.

You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful, serene space to vacation! From the cottage, to the gardens and the peepers that lull you sleep at night…it’s perfect! There is a food market in walking distance as well as a bus stop! Friendly bus drivers help you to find your stop and offer guidance. It’s a very easy and economical way to explore the island! We explored the bike path this time around with bikes provided by the hosts and got an even better look at hidden gems just minutes from the cottage. The hosts, Jo and Jonah, are wonderful. They will point you in the right direction for anything you may need. And Jonah’s artwork is amazing and decorates the walls of the cottage! We absolutely love it here!

This was our second stay at the Sea Mews and like the first time, everything was as described. The owners have added new windows along with electric curtains. Very nice.We arrived right before Hurricane Humberto - which was mainly winds, and then Imelda which followed which was heavier rains along with winds. We were perfectly comfortable as we waited the storms out. The owners have battery backup which came into play for a few hours when power was lost. This spot is truly a slice of heaven on earth.

The whole experience beginning to end was a wonderful stay at the Mews. The hosts are kind and helpful. They have three well behaved dogs, we miss their morning visits. A Perfect Bermudian Escape!

Just returned from a delightful 4-night stay at The Mews at Sea View, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a true gem.Our primary goal for this trip was to relax, soak up the sun on Bermuda's beautiful beaches, explore the scenic Railway Trail, and enjoy some delicious local cuisine. Clean home. Has everything you could need. Short walk to gorgeous beach. Cambridge Beaches Resort is literally right beside this property - very easy access to spa, restaurants, car/moped/watersports rentals. Grocery store, bus stops, pizza place all within walking distance. Bikes were fun to borrow. Helpful hosts. Excellent experience over all. (I don't recommend renting MiniMax EV vehicle from Bermuda Rentals tho.)

Garden oasis with a trail to the beach

We thoroughly enjoyed waking up and sitting in a flower laden garden while we drank our coffee. The trail to the beach was short. Chairs and towels were provided. We made use of the e-charger. The cottage was clean and well air conditioned. Finally, the hosts, Jo and Jonah, were fantastic. Perfect trip.

Fabulous cottage by the beach

I don't have enough superlatives for this lovely, well-appointed venue! The hosts are extremely professional, truly care about every detail, and were so warm and welcoming. The location is outstanding - with easy access to the beach and within walking distance to shops and the bus, in addition to water sports and numerous beaches. Having Cambridge Beaches right there is a huge asset, and we enjoyed several dinners and took advantage of the kayaks and even rented a small power boat to explore the area. I can't wait to return! Thank you to our stellar hosts (and the gorgeous pups)!

We could not speak more highly of this rental experience. Jo and Jonah are perfect hosts who are available but very respectful of guests' privacy. The property was beautiful with gardens, a short path to the beach, and our unit was bright, immaculate, airy and just really pretty, decorated with Jonah's art work. We had a garden to ourselves as well as a private area with dining table and grill. The hosts provide beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel equipment and kayaks. Honestly we would not stay anywhere else in future trips. It was classic Bermuda and we also love the area of Sandy's, which is more low key and away from the crowds. We loved the family dogs and wanted them around but you can also choose to not have them in your space. Just a lovely, lovely time in a picture perfect setting.

Just Book It!

We spent 5 nights here and we could not say enough great things about it! Absolutely perfect location with a nice quiet place out back to sit by ocean or go enjoy all the resort next door has to offer. This property was amazing, interesting with the garden grounds, three wonderful furry friends and two awesome hosts. Jo and Jonah went above and beyond to make sure our vacation was memorable and had all we needed. I will never forget these lovely people or their boy Sammy knocking on the door daily looking for a treat! If it's available, don't second guess, just book it!!!

Originally from the UK, Jonah & Jo have lived in Bermuda for over 30 years. Jonah is a well-known local artist working in oil paints and Jo works in the reinsurance industry. We love living by the water and participating in water sports such as snorkelling, kayaking and swimming. We are keen cyclists and so know every inch of the island! We have two dogs, Abby the Dalmatian and Sammy the Cocker Spaniel.

Why they chose this property

We bought this house after renting it for 5 years and just love it. The garden setting is so private and tranquil, but it is just a few steps from the beach where we get the most beautiful sunsets. The house is a little slice of Bermuda history and we are proud to be taking care of it and sharing it with others to enjoy as much as we do.
