Located in the Barbacane, the oldest district of Carcassonne, the street of the ramparts leads you in 2 minutes by a path behind the gardens to the medieval city. At the foot of the ramparts, the house offers two to three bedrooms. The house is traditional stone with a terrace and a garden above the garage. In the other direction, you can cross trees and a park to the river Aude where you cross the old bridge towards the Bastide Saint-Louis, with its shops and markets. Carcassonne "Salvaza" airport is less than 10 minutes by taxi or bus that can drop you off at Trivalle, 300 m walk from the house.
The ground floor comprises an open plan kitchen with electric oven, ceramic hob (4 burners), microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher. There is a sitting area with a sofa and two armchairs around a wood stove for the winter, supplemented by electric heaters in each room - we provide wood and heating is free. There is a TV with box and Internet access, a DVD player and a CD player.

On the first floor, a bedroom with a double bed opens onto a smaller bedroom with a futon where to put the cot.
On the second floor, a room with two single beds and a supplement bed under the slope of the roof (usable for a child). This is a renovated loft with reduced ceiling height, but very nice with lots of light.
Outside - 3 m from the front door of the house is the garage used for storing bicycles at your disposal and the washing machine. Above, a large terrace and a small garden, equipped with tables, chairs, sun loungers and a barbecue. This provides a very nice sitting area with a view of the rooftops of the City Walls - a place to relax in the sun or in the shade. Access to the terrace by a steep staircase of a miller who can be difficult for a person with reduced mobility.
The street is pedestrian - which promotes peace and security - and allows residents and tenants access to cars. Cars can then be parked free in nearby streets. you can go from car to spend a good quiet vacation! The grocery store in Barbacane is (grocery, bread, croissants) less than 300 meters, open in the morning and evening.

From this house you can climb to footpath in 2 minutes to the City. In the other direction, you can visit the Bastide Saint Louis with its shops and markets. The airport "Salvaza" of Carcassonne is less than 10 minutes by taxi or by the bus which can drop you at Trivalle, at 300m walk from the house. Please note that Rampart Cottage is situated only a few yards from Rampart Studio, an apartment somewhat smaller --and cheaper-- than the cottage. You can see the Studio also advertised on Home Away. If both properties are hired together it is possible to sleep 9 people.

Cars can be parked in the city, with some off-road parking. But please note you can have a good time here! There is a grocery store (groceries, bread, croissants) within 300 yards, open mornings and evenings.
