Rent an exclusive 500 m2 with 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, living rooms, gym, sauna, swimming pool, tennis and a huge terrace overlooking the vineyards.
Nestled in the heart of almost 30 ha of parks and vineyards on the Domaine de Chelivette committed to respecting biodiversity.
You will be able to accomplish a multitude of sporting activities, visit our cellars and taste our wines, but also discover the riches of the Entre deux mers territory, the Arcachon basin and the Bordeaux Wine City.

Superb accommodation and excellent host

Overall 5 star plus. Communication with Florence was very good. She was very accommodating with early afternoon checkin. The chateaux itself exceeded all expectations and the photos don't do it or the views justice. It is located a short drive to Bordeaux but there is also a train station a few km away that will bring you to Bordeaux in a few minutes. Very memorable trip.

Luxury historic property with rural French feel yet accesible to shops, transport links and Bordeaux

This is a 'proper' Chateau, in a secluded, raised position looking out at across its own vineyards giving a sense of peace. Each bedroom is of a good size and has a sense of character. Ample reception space allowing a large party to spread out and not be on top of one another - that said, we spent nearly our time on the Terrace. The pool is well kept and clean. Whilst in a rural spot, it is only a short drive, there is a large superstore etc around 10 mins drive away, along with easy access to major routes and Bordeaux city, making this a great 'best of both' location to both relax in and also be a base for touring the area. We would definitely return

Beautiful Venue

VBRO was really nice with lots of room. All areas of the Chateau met our needs very well. Suggestion would be to rent a car/van. We initially chose not to do that thinking Ubers/Taxis would be plentiful. That was not the case as the location is a ways out from Bordeaux. Would suggest you research local restaurants in advance to have handy. The “Chef at Home” is a great opportunity but because of health issues, we were not able to achieve that goal. Florence was a wonderful host!

Great stay!

This was a perfect place for our family gathering - the house was clean and well equipped for guests. We all commented on how quiet the house was - even though there were 10 of us! It is a beautiful property to explore - the view from the balcony was spectacular! Florence (the owner) lives nearby and was prompt to answer questions etc. Plenty of places nearby to pick up groceries etc. Highly recommend! Would definitely rebook in the future. Thanks Florence!

Beautiful chateau on vineyard

Beautiful Chateau between St Emilion and Bordeaux with lovely views of the vineyard . Very relaxing stay with my family watching sunsets from the terrace. Florence was available when we needed her and flexible with her time. The wines made by both Chateau Chelivette and Mathereau are reasonably priced and excellent with many varieties of white, rose, claret and red. We enjoyed the winery tour. We also enjoyed the chef's dinner. Recommended for families and groups of friends. Excellent stay.

Superbe cadre et beaux volumes pour cette propriété très bien située, idéale pour une parenthèse enchantée. L’espace bien pensé et ses équipements de qualité sont les atouts d’un séjour réussi, suivi avec bienveillance par vos hôtes. Une très bonne literie participe à un repos complet. Nous avons passé une semaine où, de 16 à 85 ans, tous se sont régalés. Nous avons également profité de la prestation du Chef « à domicile » que je recommande les yeux fermés.

Le château Matherau était parfait pour notre groupe (5 couples et 2 bébés): tout confort, parfaitement équipé, beaucoup d'espace à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur, piscine très agréable. Nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer Florence et Jacques Borel qui nous ont fait déguster leurs vins et fait découvrir leur domaine. Nous recommandons sans hésitation!

Perfect lodging for a family getaway

Chateau Mathereau has all the elements for a terrific vacation - a beautiful and comfortable space with all the modern conveniences in a natural setting. We even spotted deer on the gorgeous property, which is a 30 hectare vineyard that produces delicious organic wine. The owners were delightful hosts who graciously invited us for wine tasting and a tour of their operations, and were responsive and easy to communicate with in both French and English. Our group of 5 children aged from 3 to 8 were in heaven with the lovely indoor and outdoor space, and so were all of the adults. Under 1/2 hour to Bordeaux, and minutes to Saint Eulalie center where there is a major supermarket, restaurants and gas stations. Endless things to do in the area.

An Amazing Time

We had a wonderful time at the chateau and appreciate Flor for her communication and ease of stay. At times we were probably a little difficult to handle, but she dealt with us gracefully and for that, we are grateful. We created a lot of great memories staying at the chateau and Bordeaux and were very sad to leave. Time seems to slip away there, so my best advice is to make sure you do nothing for a while.

Accueillis comme des rois!

Magnifique séjour. Florence était aux petits soins avec nous. Elle a, par exemple, acheté des raquettes de badminton parce que je lui ai juste demandé s'il y en avait. Grâce à Florence et son époux, nous avons appris beaucoup sur les vignobles et notamment la biodynamie. Le château est impressionnant pour sa taille et sa décoration. Il y aurait juste un petit hic avec le nettoyage, 5h de nettoyage est peut-être un peu juste pour une surface aussi grande! et ce serait bien que les voyageurs soient un peu plus respectueux (laisser un moustique mort sur le mur est inadmissible...)

A dream chalet

This chalet is like something from a fairytale. It's massive, historic and beautifully maintained. We were 5 couples and 2 children and had more than enough room to spread out. Our group loved the beautiful pool, the massive deck where we ate most of our meals and the Rose wine from the vineyard. The chalet looks out upon the vineyard Chateau De Chelivette. The owners did a private tour of their vineyard for us and a tasting following. They were also very accommodating and found us a cot for our youngest child. All in all a magical location, property and vacation.

Wonderful group trip!

We had 12 of us staying and everything was wonderful. Chateau was very spacious allowing each couple to have their own space. The various common areas throughout the house were perfect for gathering as a group and the pool was great for when we wanted to relax. I cannot recommend this property more highly. Was absolutely wonderful.

Wonderful Bordeaux Area Chateau

We loved our stay at Chateau Mathereau. The property is conveniently located between Saint Emilion and Bordeaux (approx 30 minutes to each location) and has been stylishly updated. The patio overlooking the vineyard is amazing to sit out on in the evening and sip wine while watching a stunning sunset. The kitchen is nicely appointed with modern appliances. The owner, Florence, was amazing to work with. She helped us set up wonderful excursions which included a boat ride on the Archachon Bay and a plane tour which beautiful aerial views of chateaus and historical monuments. Florence also arranged for a private chef’s dinner and wine tasting at the Chateau which was incredible. I highly recommend all of these activities and look forward to staying at Chateau Mathereau again!

Best Hostess

Florence was the Perfect hostess who treated us like family. She had everything thought of; all you would need in every part of the house she has it. She was also so generous with her amenities for her guest. The Chateaux location is just 10 minutes from the town center and you get to feel the countryside living. She was very accommodating and waited for us for late arrival. since we drove all the way from Paris. I would go back to her if I have another chance to visit the Bordeaux region. I definitely recommend her Chateau.

Fantastic - Five Stars!

The chateau was amazing. It was a perfect for location for our purposes (a family get together for a 70th Birthday). The rooms were very clear, large and spacious with plenty of relaxing space. There is a large supermarket 5 minutes away by car but you are nestled in a beautiful area of vines. Amazing views! Florence was a fantastic host and she went above and beyond ensuring we had a good stay. I would not hesitate to come back again and am looking for my next opportunity to come to Bordeaux!
