About the host
Hosted by kelly
I used to work from home, so the house is set up with 2 office areas. The desks are positioned in front of large windows so seeing wildlife is a really nice distraction. This home has been in our family for over 30 years. My decorating style is mish-mash quirky. I try to arrange rooms that feel good when in them. The house has good vibes.
Why they chose this property
It's a 2-hour drive from NYC, straight up the Taconic. I used to work in NJ, and I loved my drive home. Starting out in traffic to being the only car on the Taconic...it was like the stress fell away as I got closer to my exit.
Most times of year you can't see the neighbors. And they can't see you! The property is heavily wooded, and yet offers great distant views of the Taconic Range.
What makes this property unique
Unique to me, means no other house has what mine has. Lots of homes have beautiful views. Mine has an incredible view from nearly every room, including two bathrooms. It even has a 400 lb., wood-carved Buddha keeping watch over the kitchen.
I have lots of sitting areas in the house. I call them "venues". My husband and I enjoy picking our cocktail (or mocktail) hour venue and enjoy the view it offers. Some inside, some outside. It's a nice way to end the day. Or start it.
If you have a pet that we approve, it's important to know our yard is not fenced in. However, the deck is massive. My little dog has a really fun time chasing anything we toss for him. I like knowing he can run free, but still be contained. I believe it's 900sf.
If you are interested in birds, this is a good house to view them from. I provide bird books for reference.
