On a scale of one to five stars, Anoranza is 10 stars. The house is a work of art, and the view is even better than you can imagine. Robert is the best bartender, host, concierge, and friend you could hope to have while on the island, and Dalia is a better cook than most professionally trained chefs. Make sure you request Dalia to cook for you, it is a real treat.
Best vacation ever, and Anoranza was the key...

Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to write a review. Our whole team is what makes the Añoranza Experience and we are so happy you enjoyed it. We hope to see you back soon. #thereefawaits
We had a wonderful stay at Anoranza! We were greeted at the airport by Matt who wished our luggage to the property to allow us to stop in French Harbor to buy supplies for the week and get some lunch. We were met by Matt and Dalia at the property with welcome cocktails and a tour odf the beautiful property with exquisite views of the sea and an amazing outdoor living room for lounging and relaxing. Dalia cooked for us three times and it was the best food on the island! I suggest doing a boat tour with her which was a true hi light. Dalia and Matt checked in on us often but it never distracted. This property is off the beaten path so if you are looking for easy access to night life and restaurants this might not be right for you. We wanted relaxation and a beautiful space and this place over delivered. It’s simply magical
My husband and I stayed at Añoranza in June for our honeymoon, and to say we were blown away is an understatement. Not a single detail of the home or the service was overlooked and we felt entirely at ease during our stay.
Upon arriving, our host Robert met us at the gate for a tour of the property. Walking through the main door we were greeted with cocktails made entirely from fresh, local ingredients (which were delicious.) Every single room (including bathrooms) was designed with purpose, decorated comfortably, and provided spectacular views of the ocean. The home sits 150ft above the water, and with floor-to-ceiling windows we were able to clearly watch rays and other marine wildlife swimming off while we stood in the living room. Incredible. While you will need to grocery shop if you plan to cook for yourself, the home has all the appliances/cookware needed to prepare meals and a bar area for drinks. I could go on for days about how spectacular the home was, and when we left to visit the west side of the island all we wanted was to go back.
Now about our host Robert. The level of service he provided was organic and unparalleled, and everything we wanted to do just felt easy. For example, he launched the kayaks for us on the first day and upon our departure asked if we had plans for dinner (we had a nearby restaurant called La Sirena in mind). When we arrived back from kayaking, we had dinner reservations for sunset. He was born and raised on the island, and in addition to the amazing services that Añoranza provides, he had additional recommendations for food, snorkeling, and other activities which did not disappoint and supported locals of the island. Considering tourism drives much of the economy (thus some establishments close on various days at different times of the year), coupled with his extensive experience in customer service, he was very calculated in making recommendations for us. When our stay was over, we mentioned that we were heading to the west side of the island for another few days, to which he provided another recommendation for dinner and drinks. We decided to take him up on his recommendation, and when our bartender got word that we stayed with Robert at Añoranza, he told us that “Robert taught me everything I know”, and before we knew it we had a free appetizer and dessert at our table. Our experience at Añoranza was one of the nicest we’ve ever had traveling together (which we've done a lot of). Thank you, again!

Ashley,
Thank you so much for the kind words about Añoranza and Robert. We are glad we were able to be part of your Honeymoon trip. It means a lot to us when people choose Añoranza for such a special trip. We know you have a lot of amazing options.
Our goal is for the Añoranza experience to leave you longing to come back and Robert does an amazing job delivering that experience. Even when you’re not staying with us, we want you to have an awesome time while in Roatan so we love to provide recommendations and suggestions.
We hope to see you again soon!! Thank you for taking the time to write the great review.
Absolutely the most amazing place we have stayed in years. We loved and enjoyed every minute of the day. The property manager Robert was accommodating and our cook Dahlia was so fabulous, I thought my husband might stay behind just for her cooking. We cannot wait to visit again!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We really appreciate it and know our future guests will too. Robert and Dalia make the Añoranza Experience. We offer our guests more than just a vacation rental and we’re glad you enjoyed it. We look forward to having you stay with us again soon. Until then, #thereefawaits
We stayed at Anoranza for a week in July 2019. We highly recommend this property.
LOCATION: Anoranza is located in Punta Blanca on the east side of the island. The east side is very quiet and you won't be bothered by cruise ships or excessive tourists. We liked this a lot. On the flip side, you'll need to rent a car. Villa is waterfront , but there's no beach.
PROPERTY: very, very nice and spotless villa. It has everything you need. The house is so beautiful that sometimes we felt like spending the day over there and just relax.
THE BEST PART was Robert, the property manager and his dog Vodka. He was always available when we needed something or just wanted to be entertained by his stories on Roatan. We have rarely met anyone that really only wants guest to be pleased with the stay and does anything he can to achieve that. Feel free to ask him for everything you need.
The only think we didn't like it that there are cameras in the pool area. They made us feel a little uncomfortable. Also, there was no washing machine detergent and limited amount of toilet paper and soap considering the price you're paying/night...
but overall we had a very positive experience and hope to be back soon!
If you're looking to get away from it all, this is your spot. What a beautiful home. You really won't want to leave. We stayed on the east end of Roatan to get away from it all. Once the paved road ends, the adventure begins. I suggest a pickup truck, the gravel roads are pretty bumpy, we were definitely glad we had one since most of what we did was away from the paved road. We stayed away from cruise ship crowds, if you do this, the island literally feels like it's all yours. We never ran into more than 5 to 10 people anywhere that we went, it was awesome. The welcome packet that Anoranza provided has plenty of suggestions of things to do while you're there. Communication was great, Sean and Robert got back to me right away when contacted, WhatsApp is very useful. Robert was there waiting for us when we arrived to take in our bags and show us around the property. Our welcome drink hit the spot. The view when he opens the front door in incredible, you really get the feeling that you are somewhere special. Robert can set you up with whatever you need while you're there. We chartered a boat to Pigeon Cay for the day, Robert's brother Henry was the captain, it was a great day on the water. We strongly suggest you hit Punta Gorda on Sunday for the Garifuna Festival, it was so much fun. Seemed like the whole island was there. We had a private Chef come in for 3 days. Delia was awesome and made us all kinds of local favorites. We had Robert arrange a couple massage's for us that were great. A couple nights when we knew we would be drinking, we had Robert drive us to and from our destination, it was perfect. We ventured out on our own quite a bit and loved every minute of it. Sean, Shelby and Robert really have a great place here and they are adding a couple things now that will make your experience even better. If you want to get away while still felling like your being pampered at a resort, this was a great choice. We rented out the whole house, but, if you're travelling with another couple or 2, there are 3 master suites, everyone will be happy. We really can't wait to return. Thank you Sean, Shelby and Robert for making our 10 year anniversary one that we won't forget. The Lyell's

About the host
Hosted by Shelby and Sean
The owners, Shelby and Sean, are glad you found Añoranza and look forward to sharing the Añoranza experience with you.
To the owners, Añoranza means stop longing for your dreams and make them happen. Shelby and Sean enjoy beach destinations and traveling the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. Many times, while they were on vacation, they found themselves saying, "I wish we could share this spot with friends and family." The desire to share an amazing place with family and friends is what started their journey through Central America to find the perfect location to build their dream home.
In 2015, they traveled to Roatán after Shelby suggested checking it out because she loved it when she visited on a cruise 10 years before.
As soon as they stepped onto the lot at Punta Blanca and saw the view that would eventually turn into Añoranza's, they knew this was where their dream would come true.
They purchased the lot at the end of 2015 and after working with a local architect for over a year on the design of Añoranza, their dream came to life July 2017 when they started construction on the 3-bedroom Owner's Retreat. It took about 1.5 years to finish the construction but in Feb 2019, the Owner's Retreat was finished.
Shelby and Sean are very proud of how Añoranza turned out and can't wait to have guests enjoy all that Añoranza and Roatán have to offer. They want guests to feel at home and long to return to Añoranza.
Please enjoy Añoranza and respect their dream they worked so hard to achieve.
Why they chose this property
People always ask us, "Why Roatan?". We looked at Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize, Panama and Roatán before we decided where our dream would be born. When you see the view, you will know why we chose the quiet community of Punta Blanca.
WHY ROATÁN: * It's a little over 2 hour direct flight from Houston.
* It has the #1 ranked beach in Central America, West Bay Beach but our favorite beach is a less known beach, Camp Bay Beach. Shhhh let’s keep it our secret.
* It has the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world, the Mesoamerican barrier reef, right off the shoreline of Añoranza.
* The reef supports amazing marine life that attracts scuba divers, free-divers, and snorkelers from all over the world to come explore.
* It also provides calm, protected waters for kayaking, paddleboarding, kiteboarding, fly fishing and other water sports.
* A quick boat ride from Añoranza, just on the other side of the reef, you are in deep waters perfect for deep sea fishing.
* It has an amazing Pete Dye designed 18 hole golf course.
* It is part of the "Bay Islands" which means we can explore other islands, a boat or ferry ride away such as Utila, Guanaja, and Cayos Cochinos. There are also small uninhabited islands like Pigeon Cay to explore and have a picnic on.
* It offers zip lining and ATV tours through the jungle
* CEMESA hospital in French Harbor takes U.S. Insurance
* It was a British Commonwealth so most of the locals speak english.
* It has amazing history, culture, people and food
