Not what we expected

We go to Miramar Beach every year and every year we’ve stayed in some sort of rental home. This is the first time that we were extremely disappointed at the Home itself. The very first thing I noticed was that the floors were filthy. Per the owners request, we took our shoes off and walked barefoot around the house. Just in the time it took to look around the house and unload our items to their respective places, our feet were black. I reached out to Vacasa and they immediately assisted us on providing us cleaning supplies (per my request) and cleaned the floors myself. Then later that night, after we’d turned off the lights, I got up to drink some water and noticed roaches around the kitchen…now I know this happens (it has never happened to us though) but it would’ve been nice to at least have some sort of bug spray in the home. I had to reach out to Vacasa again to provide bug spray. This brings me to the items available in the home. We didn’t have a bottle opener, we didn’t have a skillets to cook on, we didn’t have coffee filters. These are essential items that a home should have for people staying. Lastly, we noticed that the fridge was taking a while to cool, which the notes said it could take 24 hours, so we waited and by the 3rd day the fridge was not cooling at all. We had perishable items that needed cooling such as milk, meats, dairy items. So we had to cal Vacasa again and ask for help. Thankfully they gave us a loaner fridge and that worked out in the end. The fridge EVENTUALLY cooled down but it wasn’t until the 5th day that it finally did. I’m not sure if Vacasa has to keep up with these items or the owner of the home, but if you’re planning on staying in this specific unit then you better double check and make sure the above has been taken care of. Vacasa’s customer service was great, had no issues with them.

Dated and unwanted guests (roaches)

The place needs to be update, for what they charge. We had some issues with the unit. First the fridge was not making ice and it was leaking, I had to mop and try to fix it, they called maintenance which show up the next day and he couldn’t fix it so he just closed the water line. Second when we came back at night our first day we found roaches in the kitchen. Microwave, fridge, cabinets and dishwasher had roaches. Also some of the things the apt has are very old. Then last but not least I was locked out for 5 hours because the door wouldn’t open, they send maintenance and he couldn’t open it so they called a locksmith and it was going to take 2hrs more hours. I had 2 kids that were hungry and I couldn’t get anything because my wallet and car keys were inside. I had to called a locksmith myself and he said that he was available in 15 min not 2hrs. I was there from 5pm to 10pm. All I heard was sorry. I called Vacasa and a girl name Karen said that she was going to call me. (I’m still waiting). I spoke to Keila B. as well and she told me that the property manager was going to call me to follow up and guess what? I’m still waiting. I had plans for Friday night and we have to cancel them. Overall we give them a 1 star because the view was nice. I’ve been there before and everything went perfect the first time. But this time was terrible. By the way they never sent the pest control guy to check the unit and apparently the locksmith I called didn’t get paid. Not good at all.
