About this property

Relaxing riverfront home in the Cascades - great for families

This three bedroom, two-bath home sits on 2.5 acres within the the Teanaway Community Forest. It's the perfect nearby get away for this stressful time. The property fronts the Middle Fork Teanaway River in one of the most beautiful valleys in Washington State. The home has a large grassy yard, and shady areas by the river for relaxing. In the summer, hiking biking and horseback riding opportunities abound in the Teanaway. In winter, it's a wonderland for nordic skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers.

The house has a spacious great room with a wood fireplace, comfortable furniture and a large dining table. You can cook gourmet meals in the well-equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, and enjoy your meals on the large deck or at the picnic table down by the river. There are three bedrooms with comfortable king, queen and two twin beds. There is satellite Wi-Fi for email and the web, and a huge collection of DVDs to watch on the TV.

If you’re looking for something to do, there is hiking, biking, river rafting, horseback riding nordic skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. If relaxation is what you seek, the home is a wonderful respite to sit by the fire in the winter, cool off in the river in the summer, or just relax and read a book. In the winter, we recommend guests have four wheel drive vehicles in the event of a snow storm.

Nearby is the historic coal mining town of Roslyn (a filming location for Northern Exposure and The Man in the High Castle) with great restaurants and shops.

Also close by is the college/farming town of Ellensburg, with all the modern amenities.

There are many other interesting sights: the historic Thorp Mill Museum, and the former gold mining camp of Liberty, famous for its discovery of crystalline gold in the 1870s.

About the host

Host profile image
I am an avid hiker, biker and cross country skier. The Teanaway is my happy place where I can indulge all my favorite hobbies. I am also a fine art printmaker, and a UX designer. I am the mother of two wonderful kids who are my pride, joy and greatest accomplishment.

Why they chose this property

The Teanaway is a special place. It's a rural mountain valley on the Eastern side of the Cascade Mountains. And it's gorgeous. There is some farming in the valley and it's cattle country. Suncadia this is not. There are no housing developments here. If you want to hike or cross country ski, you can do so within a half mile. Or you go a bit farther you can go on world class hikes like the stunning Ingalls Lake and Esmerelda Basin trails. The Teanaway is a haven for horse riders and mountain bikes as well. There is an extensive network of trails for each.

What makes this property unique

The property is on a beautiful river. Reading a book, with feet resting in the cool river water is a wonderful summer pastime.
