Awesome Aubervilliers Hideaway
After several visits to Paris, I thought for this trip I should explore new territory, so I picked this wonderful place just outside the city limits. The house is clean, sunny, artfully decorated, comfortable, spacious, and very accommodating. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry facilities, lots of interesting books to browse, a stone patio to sit on warm evenings with a glass of wine.
Vincent, the owner, is readily available to answer any questions about the house or the neighborhood. He provided me with a very comprehensive list of neighboring districts, restaurants, interesting sites, night clubs, etc. There are also a few travel books in French and in English in the house.
The Metro into Paris (line 7) is just a 5 minute walk from the house. A nice supermarket and a bakery are within 3 minutes away from the house. Though it's on a busy street, the property is tucked away down a long , private driveway so you don't hear much traffic noise. But I should also say: it is dark at night.
If I had to add anything that would make Vincent's place even more accommodating, it would be to provide more detailed instructions on how to operate the induction stove (not a common appliance in America) and the washer.
Overall this is a very special place and one I hope to return to again!
