Perfect location and cabin for our family of four to stay for a Montana vacation and family wedding at Star Meadows Ranch. Our host Carren was great at communicating and making check in/out very easy. The cabin was just as advertised. A very quiet secluded location.
We stayed at this amazing cabin for the Under The Big Sky festival, we an amazing time, our host was super friendly and very helpful with anything we needed.
Great property away from everything. If you are looking to get away to quiet solitude, this is the place. Wonderful cabin with a great view. I feel owners and manager have thought of everything to make renters feel at home. Will hopefully stay again soon!
The cabin was immaculate when we arrived and Carren was the best property manager! She communicated thoroughly and even left my 9 and 10 year old a Christmas present. We fell in love with the location of the cabin and enjoyed sleigh riding with our kids. It’s a 20 min ride into downtown where we enjoyed delicious restaurants and a 45 min drive to Big mountain where we had a blast night skiing! We highly recommend this cabin for your next getaway!!
I surprised my father with a trip to Montana for his 75th Birthday. Just he, my six year old son and myself went. I knew when I saw this cabin online that he would absolutely love it. He is a big boy scout. I actually changed the dates of our trip so that we could stay here. It was everything that was promised and more. Beautiful cabin, clean, nice decor, incredible views and well stocked with amenities. We really appreciated not having to buy a bunch of things that we could not take home with us. It is about 30 minutes from downtown Whitefish and an hour from Glacier National Park. But like others had mentioned, it was a nice drive. Also, if you want seclusion and to be in the natural setting of Montana this is the cabin to be in. We had stayed in a condo downtown for a couple of nights and that was nice, but we really loved being in the woods on the Mountain. Several deer came by while we were sitting outside during the early mornings and late afternoons. We also saw a bear from the safety of our car one evening when we were driving home.
There are a lot of activities to do in the area. We went to Glacier for hiking and tours and also did White Water rafting. We also really enjoyed hiking near the cabin. The owners had suggested in there welcome binder to hike Tally Lake and the trail to the lookout there was absolutely beautiful. There are a lot of trails in the area that are way less crowded then in Glacier. But I recommend doing both. All in all, it was a wonderful stay. My father, son and I had a wonderful time and hope to return next summer!
This was our second stay at the cabin, and won’t be our last. We always enjoy the cabin, views and surrounding wildlife. Carren was great to communicate with through the process.
A quiet and restful spot in the Montana woods. The cabin is very comfortably furnished with nothing missing and plenty of room to spread out. There were only 4 of us but a family or group of 6 would still have plenty of room. Great Wifi (in case you need it), comfy beds, nicely stocked kitchen, plentiful hot water. An easy 30 minutes to town and an hour from Glacier Park. It was a great spot to head back to each day and relax. and at night the star gazing is incredible!
We absolutely loved this cabin. Even before we arrived, Bob and Janet were very responsive to any questions we had, and they provided all info needed for check-in. The cabin is approximately 30 minutes from downtown Whitefish, but it's a beautiful drive through the woods and countryside. When we arrived, we were greeted with a complementary bottle of wine, which was a great touch. The cabin was spotless clean, and you could tell that the owners take really good care of the place. They had many amenities available, such as linens, soaps, condiments, paper towels, napkins, etc. It has a great view of the mountains and we loved waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee on the back deck. Our stay was great, and the perfect size for a group of 6. I highly recommend this property!
We absolutely LOVED our stay at this property! Hosts were amazing and you can't beat the views. Cabin was private and secluded but not too far from Whitefish or Kalispell. This is an excellent location if you are looking to get away from everything and just enjoy the natural forest area in northern Montana.
The property was clean and quiet. Whitefish was about 25 miles away, which wasn't too bad for a couple trips in each day. We brought our zero gravity chairs for relaxing on the deck and yard in the evenings. Not much wildlife activity at the cabin. We recommend going to the city beach, glacier national park, and zip lining on the big mountain.
This is the perfect cabin in the woods. Fully stocked, quiet & clean. We really enjoyed seeing all of the deer in the yard during our morning coffee. Robert & Janet were great to correspond with & made sure everything was perfect. We can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful View!
The views from the cabin are incredible! I spent much quality time sitting on the porch, staring out at the mountains & listening to the wind blow through the pine needles. Very relaxing. My sons enjoyed the hammock out in the trees as well:). Cabin is 20 miles or so outside of Whitefish but is an easy drive into town. Tons to do in the area. Highly recommend!!

From the Heartland to the Continental Divide
We had the most amazing time visiting Glacier National Park and staying at this beautiful cabin in Whitefish! The cabin is nestled in the mountains just outside of Whitefish. It has beautiful views of the mountains, very well stocked kitchen, towels, etc., and had everything that we needed to make our stay there wonderful! It was a bit of a drive to the park, but not a problem, we looked forward to coming back to our peaceful cabin each night. We also enjoyed the awesome town of Whitefish! We highly recommend staying here! Thanks so much Janet and Robert for your hospitality :)

Best Vacation Ever!
You never know what to expect when you rent sight unseen, but this property exceeds expectations. The cabin is beautiful and in an amazing location, with a bottle of wine awaiting our arrival. After spending a day in Glacier or Whitefish, it was terrific to return to your own own private cabin and relax after a busy day. While there are properties closer to Glacier, the trip to and from Glacier and Whitefish was easy and enjoyable. On the way to the cabin, we always kept an eye out for wildlife and always saw numerous deer and had deer visit us everyday at the cabin. The cabin was spotless upon our arrival and it had everything we needed, including many condiments and other supplies, including laundry detergent etc. Having a full kitchen and washer and dryer made a huge difference. We will definitely be returning to this amazing cabin. The owners, Bob and Janet, were terrific to work with and made sure that our time at the cabin was everything we expected and wanted. Thank you again and can't wait to return. John, Jamie, Max & Ty.

Wonder cabin
Where to begin, this is one of the best properties we've ever rented. Wonderful location, spotless house, downstairs you have living room, kitchen, dining room all in one, bathroom, bedroom and laundry. Upstairs queen bed and bunk beds separated by the bathroom. Plenty of towels, hot water, wonderful beds and bedding. Wrap around deck with lots of chairs and a picnic table. Deer and squirrels visited us daily. As I write this we have 2 more nights left of our stay, we are still hoping for a moose and/or bear sighting. This is our first visit to Glacier country, we love the area and hope to visit again, unfortunately the Going To The Sun road is closed near the summit, maybe next time we can traverse that. We still found plenty to do, including Polebridge bakery, Canada, Idaho and other areas. We appreciate the level property while one bedroom is not suitable for disabled the lower level should be fine. Thanks Bob and Janet for a wonderful week. Pete, Maxine, Helen and Tony

About the host
Hosted by Robert & Janet Schuttler
Bob and I fell in love with Whitefish while our boys were attending University of Montana, Missoula. At the time, we were living in a high-rise in the city if Chicago. Visiting the boys was the perfect getaway from the frenetic energy of the city. Exploring northwest Montana was a wonderful adventure filled with new experiences. The majesty of Glacier National Park was, and will always be awe-inspiring! Now we are immersed in nature year around as we live on a farm in southwest Michigan. We raise Lowline Angus cattle and produce 100% grass-fed beef.
Why they chose this property
Bob always longed for a log cabin in the forest. After settling in Whitefish, and going into the real estate business, son Rob found the perfect venue for us. We fell in love with the property before even stepping into the cabin. If you long for peace and solitude, with the fun of Whitefish close by, this is the vacation destination for you.
