Very comfortable, convenient, charming, quiet, and well-appointed. An evening on the porch which was glorious, clear, no bugs, and low humidity—very unusual for the Southland in the Springtime. I hope all future guests have as lovely a time as we did.
Stayed here for the 2025 Porch Fest and it was a perfect setting for the trip. We had a total of 14 folks in town so we all met on the porch late Saturday morning for a pregame beverage. The location was perfect and two of the host music porches were just a half block away. We biked for Porch Fest but all of downtown is easy walking distance.
Quaint cottage with great location, lots of charm, very homey! Very clean! Would stay again! Booking through check out was so easy and staff very helpful
The way to experience the historic appeal of Apalachicola is to stay in this cute historic cottage just a few steps away from all the activities downtown. It is clean, has all the amenities one needs, and the setting is outstanding. Look forward to staying there again!
Impressed with this cottage built in the 1800's! Modern conveniences added to the property enhanced our stay. Very convenient to downtown for shopping, eating, and sightseeing. Hope to stay again in the future!

The Raney Guest Cottage is a great place to enjoy Apalachicola.
Charming historical cottage in a great location for Apalachicola, walk to everything in town. Cottage was just right for the two of us, had everything we needed, was very clean as well! Hope to be back again soon.
We absolutely loved stayed at Raney Cottage! The location was wonderful for walking to all the shops and restaurants downtown. It was peaceful and quiet! Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back!
This cottage was perfect for my 6 year old daughter, my parents, and me. It was an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. We are looking forward to coming back again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Raney House! The location was close to downtown, a historic fishing town. Close to wonderful shops and restaurants. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the claw-foot tub in the bathroom was so soothing!
We will stay here next time we're in Apalachicola..I hope it's sometime soon!!
We enjoyed our short stay at the Raney Cottage very much. Although historic, the cottage is modern, well maintained and comfortable. Property manager was accommodating and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay and walked to all the restaurants and shops. The weather was very cold while we were there and the house is cold. We were told not to turn heat above 73. A better TV would be good as well, we watched a football game on Sunday night on a 27” screen.

Hi Gwen,
Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your time in Apalachicola. Weather was unseasonably cold during your visit. We have since added additional heating to the Raney Guest House and are replacing small television with a larger flat screen. We hope to see you again soon in Apalachicola.
I love older homes, and this one was done really cute and true to its historic roots. Everything we needed was provided. It must have been recently sprayed for bugs, because there were numerous dead cockroaches around. This isn't odd for Florida, though. The relatives who slept in the single beds said they were pretty hard, but then we are all up in age and have our aches and pains. Overall, a very good place to stay and very close to downtown. I would stay there again.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Raney Guest House in Apalachicola! Built in 1835, the home beautifully preserves its historic Old Florida charm while offering all the modern conveniences you’d want. Every corner of the house tells a story. From the clarinet lamp to the thoughtfully curated local artwork, it’s truly a one-of-a-kind place to stay. The location couldn’t be better! Just a short stroll to downtown Apalachicola, with its great restaurants, shops, and riverfront views. The owner was incredibly easy to work with and made check-in a breeze. This gem is now officially one of our favorite places to stay when we’re in town. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique, comfortable, and memorable getaway.PS- We didn’t take any photos of the house without our family members in it. However, the photos on the listing are true to life.

Thank you for enumerating the amenities at the Raney Guest Cottage that made your family’s visit enjoyable. We owners and management staff as well try hard to meet guests expectations and it’s gratifying to receive feedback about our efforts.
From the moment that we pulled up to the house and saw the light shining through the window, this cottage felt welcoming and inviting. It is very well updated with all the modern conveniences, but still maintains its historic charm and warmth.
The cottage is in an excellent location in the historic district, one block away from the main street. So nice to be within walking distance of restaurants and shops, and not to have to always be in the car. And we loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch watching everyone go by.
Check-in and out was very easy. The property manager Kathy is very easy to deal with and provides excellent communication.
This was our first visit (but hopefully not last) to Apalachicola, and we can't wait to return and stay at this wonderful cottage!

It’s very gratifying to know others enjoy the Raney Guest Cottage as we do. Thank you for taking the time to let us know that our teams ‘ efforts are appreciated and the cottage proved to be a pleasant “home away from home.”
We came for an after Christmas break and to check out Apalachicola. The cottage was walking distance to pretty much everything. The beds were comfy and the place was spacious, except for the second bedroom, which was adequate but small. The kitchen is well appointed but the kettle on the stove was just for looks, don’t even ask what was in it when I tried to clean it. Even though a fireplace was advertised it was not operational, and I did call about it after we checked in, which was really disappointing. Even the instructions for the AC/heater pointed out how cozy the fireplace was when on. The art work had a LOT of modern pieces throughout, which didn’t really match the historic vibe. I would have liked to have had a few touches of seasonal decor, but we bought a poinsettia to make it feel a little Christmassy. All in all, it was just a weekend stay in an old quirky cottage in an old town. Still have mixed feelings about our stay at the Haney Guest Cottage.

Hi Catherin,
We are happy you enjoyed your stay in Apalachicola. The historic fireplace unfortunately is not operational at this time. The second bedroom is as described and shown in pictures with two twin beds and no closet as was the custom with homes built in 1860. The artwork in the Raney is a mix of local artists in Apalachicola and the owners original artwork as well. Thank you for the review and we hope to see you back in Apalachicola soon.
The cottage was amazing! it is beautifully decorated and met all of our needs. It was clean and had a fully loaded kitchen. The location was excellent-we could walk everywhere in town. We would definitely stay there again.
