The house and property were wonderful! We stayed with a large group over the Thanksgiving holiday and everyone had a great time. Fishing by the river, s'mores by the fireplace, and relaxing by the indoor fire and shooting pool. Perfect way to spend a holiday weekend!

Pleasant area to stay. Rental home was well furnished. Comfortable atmosphere.
Beautiful!!! Property.
(1) steak knives were dull, the occupants sharpened the knives. Could not trim.fat off the pork.
(2) NO TV INSTRUCTIONS.
(3) their rules could NOT use the firewood!! Had to purchased firewood!! NO dishwashing soap!!
What a marvelous house! My husband & 4 adult children stayed for long weekend so comfortably with 4 full baths & comfortable beds. The dual shower heads in the master bath was a treat 😊
Very clean & homey, with indoor gas fireplace & lots of throws & especially the screen porch with wood burning fireplace every evening listening to the river sounds - so lovely
Enjoyed the Covington area a lot as well: hiking, biking & kayaking the Jackson river. Check out Alleghany Outdoors for rentals.
Will definitely rent again!
This spectacular home is located in the most prime location in the area!! When weren't on the lake or in the river, we were hiking and biking. We were the envy of everyone that passed by on the river at one of the best swimming/fishing holes just down from the house. We so fell in love with the area we will either stay here again or buy a 2nd home in the area (not easy to find river property for sale) Stay here and let all your cares melt away. We have stayed at many homes over the years on the Shenandoah River but our family all said that this is the Best Home and Location ever!! Thanks Jenna!!!!
My brother and I and our wives truly enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was immaculate inside and outside. The design of the house is very functional and the and the furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. And, the kitchen provides all that we needed The view from the porch was very much enjoyed and the quiet was appreciated.
We had many enjoyable hours challenging each other playing pool and shuffleboard. Both the full size pool table and the shuffleboard table are in very good condition. The area at the bank of the Jackson river is spectacular; but, the trout are very smart ... they were not interested in any of the flies we presented.
Very enjoyable week ... we may return.
We loved the location so close to the river and walking trail. House was very clean, large and comfortable. We didn’t realize the third bedroom was in the basement, which wasn’t ideal for our two little ones, but we were able to put one in the laundry room and one with us. Basement also smelled a bit damp/mildewy. But we’d love to return some day!
We had a wonderful weekend! What a gorgeous property with a spacious and fun home. The River access is fantastic for fishing, kids swimming and just enjoying. The home is even better than the pictures, very comfortable and our kids loved the basement.
Our family met here to enjoy a week together. Aged 3-60 we all had a great time. The water was refreshingly cold on a hot summer day and we spent our time floating and fishing. Nice location to the Homestead resort and spent an hour in the historical Warm Springs. The back porch was our favorite after our days wound down. The hosts were great helping us and setting us up for a great time. Very clean, orderly and a great place to relax.
This was our third year renting this property and we hope to continue. It is perfectly landscaped for privacy, while providing a beautiful sanctuary for wildlife, flora and fauna. You can sit on the screened in porch and watch the landscape come to life with flocks of goldfinches (July), deer, rabbits, red wing blackbirds, butterflies, and the like. After a short walk through the wildflower filled field, you arrive at the river where we've seen a scarlet tanager, bald eagle, and flocks of mergansers - not to mention the trout. I highly recommend retreating to this home.
Great place to stay with some really nice waterfront access on the Jackson. House was great and the screen porch with the outdoor fireplace was a real plus - evenings were just cool enough for us to use it.
Some incredibly fishy looking water along the property but the fish there make you work for it!
This house is our very favorite! The private riverside space offers guests the perfect visiting spot. The fire pit is great, and the screened porch with fireplace is great for quiet coffee in the morning or a glass of wine before dinner. We love this house so much!
Absolutely loved staying here, the river is absolutely gorgeous along with all the mountains around and the wildlife. Great place to get away and unwind.
Large, spacious, very nice house. Would loved to have had a better view of the river from the fantastic screened in porch. Very remote.
Having dinnerware for only 7 was a bit odd. Enjoyed our visit to the Falls and the Humpback bridge.
We arrived Friday and by Monday the colors had gone from green to golds and reds.
Fishing started 5 minutes after arrival, a warm fire was started before dinner and a pool challenge ended the evening - and that was the first day. It was fantastic!
The house was great - the beds were all comfortable, there was a lot of room for the 8 of us (6 adults/ 2 kids) and it was very clean! We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch and my husband caught several fish on the property! We took the kids biking on the Jackson River trail a few times and to Lake Moomaw and both were less than a ten minute drive! We did lose power the last morning for a few hours but they had a generator that powered some things which was nice. I highly recommend!
We had such a lovely stay at the Jackson River House. From the kitchen, to the (many!) bathrooms, to the fun-filled basement, the house was clean, modern and perfectly appointed. Jenna was also a gracious and responsive host.
Our kids enjoyed floating in the river and playing pool and shuffleboard, and we adults loved the screened-in porch, fishing and scenic views. Our stay was short (and a bit rainy on day two) so we did not have time to build a fire. But we’d love to return for a longer period of time. It’s a fantastic home away from home!
