GRANARY - A 450-acre Mountain Paradise on the Jackson
The Granary is located just three miles west of Warm Springs on the grounds of Fort Dinwiddie Farm, a 450-acre working farm with open meadows, shady forests, breathtaking vistas and over a mile of frontage on The Jackson River, considered one of Virginia's finest trout streams.
Originally built as a grain barn in 1895, The Granary has been carefully transformed into a wonderful guest home used by the property owners as a guest house and is available as a short-term rental.
The Granary is suitable for up to 6 guests. On the main floor there are two bedrooms (1 queen bed and one bedroom with 2 twin beds), 1 full bathroom with a claw foot tub and a shower, fully equipped kitchen and beautifully restored dining room table constructed from the old grain bins that can seat the entire household! Upstairs is the Great Room with soaring ceilings, a cozy electric stove, and another table for eating or playing games. The view is spectacular! There is a large screen TV outfitted with ROKU which allows guests to log into their own premium streaming services. The third bedroom with 1 queen bed is on this floor along with the second bathroom that has a large shower, but no tub.
The ground level deck is comfortably furnished for lounging, dining and cooking out on the gas grill. The Granary is pet friendly, allowing one dog per stay for an additional $100 pet fee.
Fort Dinwiddie is a working farm. Therefore, the following are excluded from use on the property: ATV type vehicles, bicycles and motorized vehicles (due to gravel roads and rough terrain), motorcycles, campers and RV’s.
In addition, no spin rods are allowed. Fly-fishing only, catch & release. (Fishing licenses are required). No hunting, target shooting, firearms of any kind, no fireworks or open bonfires.
All activity on the farm property is at guests’ own risk.

Thank you! Looking forward to welcoming you back to the Granary!
A beautiful , peaceful , special place with the beauty of nature all around you .... From the trill of the Red Winged blackbirds along the river's edge ,to the magestic eagles that fly above and Mountain vistas in all directions , a feast for the senses and a great way to unplug ! Treat yourself ! You will want to come back again and again!
The Granary is the most magnificent home. Very grateful it is available and hope to be back. Property is beautiful with lots of deer and bald eagles and trout. The home is perfect. It was clean and well equipped and every area was so well maintained and decorated. The history of the entire farm is worth reading and being there and appreciating. Overall one of the coolest places we have ever visited and so thankful we had the chance to travel there and spend time at this outstanding place. Thank you!
Loved it! Beautiful and interesting house and property
Our group had an awesome stay here! Both the property and house have a fascinating history. We had a great time exploring the property and just hanging out in the cozy house. It's also not too far from Lake Moomaw and lots of trails. We'd love to stay at this place again.

Rustic, beautiful, serene. This property is a fantastic getaway from urban/suburban life. It has spacious common areas, a serviceable kitchen, and there were fun games like cornhole. There's a 2 minute walk to a bridge that spans the river on the property for people who want to fish, or just listen to the stream and watch fog drift down the mountains.
Loved the cabin and was intrigued by its history! Truly a unique place to stay! Enjoyed the panoramic views and the river on the property. Grocery store was only 10 mins away.
We had a lovely time at the Granary -- it is truly a unique and special property. We all enjoyed exploring and relaxing and saw the most amazing stars at night. Comfortable accommodations with everything you need -- definitely a great place to get away from it all.
This was the perfect place to get off the beaten trail and getaway. The house was beautiful, full of so much history. The surrounding area was lovely, with plenty of opportunity for outdoor activity.
This is an exceptional property. The house should be featured in architectural digest. The access to 2.5 miles of a private river with a national park on its boundary ensures a healthy fishery. The cold spring is like something out of a Monet garden.
