Right on the lake

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lake Dreamin property. You're literally right on the lake, and the views are stunning. There was plenty of area in the back for our dogs to roam and a big firepit right near the lake. Theres also plenty to do in the surrounding area(trails, wineries etc) in) in the surrounding area

Wonderful spot

We spent a week here with our toddler and infant. The location is great - nice and quiet with good access to activities, wineries and breweries on the west shore of Seneca Lake. The house is cozy, but well maintained. The beach access is great, especially with young kids. Would highly recommend!

Brief visit

Nice enough place. Served its purpose reasonably well. We got in after dark and we’re gone touring most of Saturday. It would have been nice to have an extra hour before check out. Cleaning fee for a 36 hour stay for two people using one room was a bit high but I suspect this is standard. I’m glad we came. Thank you.

Quiet and relaxing

The property was quiet and quite sufficient for a couple or small family. The place was clean and had everything that we needed. Had a less-than ideal interaction during check-in process since we forgot to check in (our fault) - however a simple " hope everything is ok, we did not hear that you checked in" as opposed to "you did not follow instructions and we can terminate your stay for not following check-in rules". Despite this, we would recommend staying as the home is well-situated and appointed.

Wonderful!

Very cozy, wonderful views of the lake, hot tub was perfect every evening at sunset. As others have mentioned, yes the bedrooms are tiny, but it was perfect for just me and my husband to use one room to store our clothes and things on the bed, and use the other room to actually sleep in. The doors and floors are creaky, but that's not something that would make me say no to staying here - just a heads up in case one of you tries to sleep in longer than the other, it can be tricky haha. We both slept pretty great though! The location of the house is also great, we were a short drive from so many different wineries. Our favorites might be Anthony Road, Glenora (delicious restaurant there too), and Lakewood Vineyards. We would definitely consider staying here again!

Quiet Getaway

My wife, daughter (<1) and our dog had a great time at the house. Dresden is mostly halfway up the west shore between Watkins Glen and Geneva. The closest town is Penn Yan however and you'll be able to find anything you need there. Restaurants, Groceries, etc. The house itself is cozy and right on the water. Our dog liked that the most. Bedrooms are on the smaller side with little room to walk around the bed. Not an issue for us but it could be for some others. This was the second time we've stayed at this house and will most likely in the future!

Nice location and hot tub but needs updating

Amazing view of the lake, the hot tub made the house, beds were comfortable, good size for a single couple on a weekend. The rooms are very tight and there were some cosmetic issues that didn't affect our stay such as some dated parts of the house, a heating vent in the middle of the floor between the hall and the living room, and a lack of direct heat to the bathroom. Lights we're on for us and the house heated up relatively fast once we turned it up. Nice overall but needs some quick fixes. Some paint and minor repairs could make it much nicer.

Good Short Term Stay

Property is cute as a small lake cottage but could use a refresh. While I understand the look the owners are going for, some things are tired and need replacing. Most notably the couches to start. The bedrooms are very small- which is accurately described- but be mindful they are only full beds and two people is a very tight fit. You also have no room for luggage in the room and while you can utilize the closet- very few hangers were made provided to hang clothes. The landscaping of the property is also something that the owners could work on- while the grass was mowed, the trees and shrubbery were due for a trim. It looked generally unkept- this includes the deck which is time for a power wash and staining. You can’t beat the view and overall the house was clean- it does have the potential to be great with some elbow grease! It’s great for a few days but a longer stay you might want to find a slightly larger place to stretch your legs.

Host was very accommodating to questions and gave us a lot of info as it was our first time to the area. The location was great as we were right in the middle of the wineries. The property is quaint and snuggly. The views from the hot tub are well worth it.

We had a nice stay. Nice view overlooking the lake. Nice fire pit near the water. A little disappointed with the accuracy of the photos. Bedrooms were very small. The photos looked like they were from years ago. Brush was overgrown and less open feel then what the photos showed. Oven needs to be replaced. One stove top burner didn't work at all and really couldn't tell what temperature the oven was baking at. Some mold in the washing machine. Other then that the place was clean and generally well maintained.

Beautiful location, great view in a quiet area. Walking distance to a beautiful park! Easy check in & out! Only downfall was the AC units were loud at night, turning them off made it a little to warm. Over all, cute stay! Hot tub was beautiful at night looking over the lake.

We stayed at the Savannah house a few years ago and have been hoping to have the chance to rent another property owned by Pat so when I realized this was, I was thrilled. The personal touches and b&b feel of the properties is extremely charming & welcoming. We had a great stay! This is a beautiful property, within close proximity to several of our favorite local wineries/food spots, lake access for the dog and a provate dock. The house is well kept and very clean; the pictures accurately reflect the accommodations. Pictures cant quite capture the beauty of the view of the lake, though. We comfortably fit with 2 adults and one dog. Just a heads up, the bedrooms are a little tight but again, pictures are an accurate reflection. If youre traveling with large suitcases or if the guests are on the larger size, it might be a little difficult to manuever. The beds were equally comfortable. I would recommended and absolutely stay again as the bedrooms were not a drawback for us; rather a cozy spot to recharge after a fun filled day. We stayed at the Savannah house a few years ago and have been hoping to have the chance to rent a dog-friendly property owned by Pat, so when I realized this was, I was thrilled. The personal touches and b&b feel of the properties is extremely welcoming.

Host profile image
I'm married with two children (a girl and a boy) and I work with a small technology company in Fairfax County VA. I'm also a partner in a family run inn that sits just 7 miles south of our cottage, overlooking Seneca Lake. I grew up in northern Virginia, outside Washington, DC, and graduated from George Mason University. My family has had a cottage on Seneca since 1930 (my grandparents), and our whole family has a great attachment to the lake. Since I was a child, it was a dream of mine to one day have a place for my own family on Seneca Lake. In 2007 we made that dream a reality, and now we would love to share this beautiful spot with you!

Why they chose this property

I love Seneca Lake and I wanted to have my own cottage, just as others in my family do. This area happens to be one of the most choice locations on the whole lake. It has easy access all year, an awesome view of the lake, lots of privacy, and plenty of land to add on in the future. It's also one of the most convenient locations to the wineries and to shopping.

What makes this property unique

This cottage sits in such a unique setting, with around 100ft of private, grassy, level lake frontage. It's also very private, with only one distant neighbor. The cottage sits on the widest part of Seneca Lake and because it faces north east, you have an extremely expansive view of the lake.
