Located between Montpellier and Frontignan, Vic-la-Gardiole is a village of 3,000 inhabitants (~ 10,000 during the holiday period), in the immediate vicinity of the Mediterranean Sea. The south of the territory is made up of ponds, in particular the Vic pond and wetlands, while further north, the Gardiole massif presents a great diversity of Mediterranean flora and fauna. Previously a small fishing village, the city attracts an increasingly large population due to the attractiveness of Montpellier, located only 17 km away. Curiously, the beach area does not belong to the municipality but is shared between Frontignan and Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone.
