Why Christopher Jenkins chose Gaucín
As you will see from the Testimonials, this is a very special place; a family home which is comfy, spacious, romantic and with views to die for. There are very few large houses in Andalucia where families can congregate for special occasions and yet where everyone can find their own space and be on their own if they want to. We have 30 acres of land and extensive gardens, some of it very wild and old, some of it cultivated with classic herbaceous borders, fruit trees, a vineyard and in the spring a waterfall!

Gorgeous hacienda in a spectacular part of the world.
Spacious well-appointed home with a lovely horizon pool and three outdoor dining venues. Perfect place for our seven adult and seven grandchildren extended family birthday week.
Beautiful family Home
We stayed as a groups of four family's with our teenage children - ages 14 - 18
The house is stunning with a real feel of a much loved family home and full of beautiful art.
The setting is stunning and we enjoy the pool and grounds as much as the house.
Amazing wildlife including birds of pray that soared over the house in the mornings.
A week didn't really give us time to do the area justice as we didn't leave the house much but our day out in Ronda was great.
I would diffently recommend this property for relaxation and a taste of real Spain
Thank you for a wonderful holiday
As a group of sixteen it can be a challenge to find a place that suits everyone's different tastes but Cortijo La Hoya was a real winner for every single member of our party.
From the moment we arrived we knew we were somewhere truly special. It's been said before in reviews but the photographs really don't do it justice! The courtyard is stunning, the bedrooms are beautiful, the kitchen and combined living room is the perfect place to relax away from the heat of the midday sun, the pool is exquisite and to top it all off the al fresco dining areas provided an ideal backdrop to late night dinners and parties.
Christopher, Ines and Paco are completely charming and wonderfully helpful - we had not one problem from the day we booked to the moment we left. Thank you all so very much and we look forward to another superb stay in the future!
P.S. Paco's Paella really is the best you will ever taste, don't miss it!
Blissful and charming retreat
La Hoya is a gorgeous place, complete with charming bedrooms, beautiful views, many quite sitting areas and one stunning pool. We traveled here with friends and children, and all had a fantastic time. The area was quiet and remote, but close to gorgeous villages with enough to entertain us all. Some days we spent entirely at La Hoya, others we ventured out and hurried back for the comforts of home, always spending the afternoon by the pool and dinners together around the outdoor table under the jasmine. Truly a blissful spot.
This house is the BEST!
We're a group of childhood friends, spouses and (now) children who've been renting vacation properties together for the past 15 years. We've taken homes everywhere from the Catskills to the French Riviera, and we all agree that... This – house – is – the – BEST! The views are spectacular. The grounds are extensive, filled with flowers and fruit trees. (Wake up to the scent of jasmine, then take your kids on a nature walk through the orchard to show them where their food comes from.) The gourmand groundskeeper, Paco, makes amazing paella and helped source our very own leg of jamon de bellota. The house manager, Ines, will go out of her way to answer your questions and get what you need or assist you in any way. The house itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated without feeling too precious. The kitchen is well equipped, with two ovens and two dishwashers, which makes clean up so much easier. The cooktop/hob can be a bit finicky, but you’ll figure it out or just cook the whole time on the built-in BBQ outside. The rooms are arranged around the courtyard, so everyone has their own private space. The pool is large, has a platform where younger kids can play and a shelf along the edge of the deeper part so you can stand all the way around….and, wow, the view. Nearby “white villages,” like Gaucin and Jimena de la Frontera, are charming and have castles where you can climb on 2000 years of history without any supervision. A little further afield, cities like Ronda, Cadiz and Gibraltar are also worth a visit (though you may want to bring some Dramamine for the winding roads) or go to Africa for a day – ferries to Morocco leave every couple of hours from Tarifa. That said, once you’re at the house, you may never want to leave. And when you must, you’ll be counting the days until you can return. I know I am.
Cortijo La Hoya is set in the foothills below Gaucin, just off the Ronda-Jimena road. It sits in 30 acres of grounds and mature gardens and is surrounded by National Parkland. Its 14 metre infinity pool provides stunning views towards Africa. We are within easy reach of the Beaches, several local Golf Courses and Sotogrande with its Polo grounds and nightlife. The countryside is ideal for walking and riding. Gaucin which is 10 minutes away is one of the first famous ‘white villages’ of Andalucia. The nearest shops are in San Pablo (5 minutes) and Gaucin. The historic towns of Jerez, Ronda, Seville and Cordoba are an easy car journey. Tarifa, famous for its windsurfing is just 90 minutes away. Morocco and the mesmerising port of Tangier is only a 35 minute ferry ride from Tarifa. We are 45 minutes from Gibraltar airport and 90 minutes from Malaga Airport
