La Belle Charentaise is an elegant mansion, close to La Rochelle, beaches and many tourist attractions. Our house will offer you tranquility, privacy and a warm welcome.
Located in a peaceful countryside setting, La Belle Charentaise has been restored to maintain the integrity of the original architecture while bringing modern comfort to the home.
The house offers 5 bedrooms decorated with family furniture, with private bathrooms, a large living room with a library and wooden games created by craftsmen of the family.
Our spacious kitchen is very well equipped for the preparation of your meals that you will enjoy sharing around the old elm table.
You can also dine on the terrace between the house and the swimming pool ... Or you can grilled meat under our préau... And finish your evening around the fire at the bottom of the garden, while tasting shamallow grill.
You can sunbathe on our large terrace as you leave the indoor pool, or read and relax in the garden.
All these features, as well as our flower garden and ample parking make our property an ideal resort for guests of all ages. Not to mention the famous microclimate of the plains of Charente Maritime, which promises sunny days and cool nights, ideal for a weekend or a week of vacation.

Lovely place to stay with friends and family

We had a great stay at the house with two families. Veronique was wonderful and the place was charming and well located for drives to interesting places. You certainly need a car. The pool kept the kids occupied and was big enough to really improve their swimming.

Multi generation family holiday

Size and layout of property perfectly suited our 10 family members. Pool was well maintained and used for long periods every day. Barbecue area and seating ideal. Host friendly and efficient. Large supermarket only a few minutes away making provisioning easy. There was a problem with the WiFi as the 4G box only provided cover in the room it was in. Full property WiFi is a basic need nowadays as our party had 3 members who needed it for work and 4 children who needed it partly for school related projects. However we would thoroughly recommend all other aspects of the property.

Perfect gîte for a large family / group

All of our family from young to old absolutely loved Veronique’s gîte. The space was perfectly set up for a large group with a range of books, games and toys to keep everyone entertained. The children were constantly in and out of the indoor pool and the fire pit where we roasted s’mores was a nice treat at the end of the day. The house is filled with so many interesting objects from France and further afield and the rooms are comfortable and cool at night even in the peak of summer. A small store is a convenient short walk away to buy bread and basic groceries. Veronique was a wonderful host making sure that she did everything she could to meet the needs of my son who uses a wheelchair. There is a wealth of information on the local area in the gîte and Veronique also answered any questions we had about what to do in the region.

Super semaine entre amis !

Très jolie maison de vacances fonctionnelle. Nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement par Véronique la propriétaire et Charmés par le cadre bucolique. Chacun bénéficie de son espace privé (nous étions 12) avec une salle de bain et toilettes dans toutes les chambres. L’espace cuisine est grand et réalisé avec de beaux matériaux. Nous avons apprécié la jolie vaisselle d’antan signée. La piscine est très bien entretenue et sécurisée à l’image des photos. Des jouets sont mis à disposition pour les enfants en bas âge. Elle est à proximité de La Rochelle, la mer et autres activités à découvrir aux alentours en famille et entre amis.

We truly enjoyed our visit. The owner was very responsive to our needs. Also enjoyed the heated indoor swimming pool. Having a private bathroom with every bedroom was also very convenient. I would highly recommend this property.

Great base for a lovely holiday

Spacious accommodation. Having a bathroom for every room was more useful than I’d initially realised. Also with well appointed kitchen. Felt photos did not do the decor justice. Pool was amazing- the children loved it. Garden is part shared with host who let us feed the chickens, collect eggs and pick veg whilst she was away, which the children loved. Host speaks excellent English. House proved a great base to visit La Rochelle, Rochefort and nearby attractions such as the excellent go karting track. We used pizza oven and fire pit in the garden which was fun. House was decked out with quite a few items which felt personal to the host and we were a bit nervous in case our children damaged anything but I think this was misplaced as the host proved to be very easy going about such matters after all despite the odd broken plate! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting well cared for, generous accommodation and a friendly welcome to France.

Great property

Had a lovely week here, 3 families. The property was fantastic, spacious, clean, all ensuite bedrooms. We all loved the pool and nice that it's indoors, no need to worry about suncream and the water stays nice and warm. Veronique was great on communication before the holiday and an excellent host during our week.

Beautiful home and great host

Veronique hosted me and 5 others at her beautiful home for a wedding. The home was a great set up with each room having a bathroom. I really appreciate Veronique’s help the whole weekend and her hospitality for our group. I would highly recommend the house.

Super week-end entre amis d’enfance

Tout était réuni pour passer un excellent séjour. La maison assez grande pour accueillir le nombre de personne indiquée et vous y trouverez tout ce dont vous avez besoin ! Avec un superbe temps, nous avons pu profiter constamment de l’extérieur entre BBQ, piscine et le jardin suffisamment grand pour y pratiquer quelques jeux. L’endroit est au calme ce qui donne encore plus de charme à la maison ! Véronique a été super accueillante et à notre disposition pour tous les renseignements dont nous avions besoin.
