About this property
Luxury Villa close to Tavira and beach with sea views and peaceful rural setting
Lovely modern and unique four bedroom villa with veranda and private swimming pool, both with wonderful views of the beach and sea. Located on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Santo Estavao in its own grounds with beautiful established gardens, BBQ, Air conditioning, Wifi and sound system. TV has IPTV. Only ten minutes from several beaches and the wonderful ria formosa, golf and central Tavira and thirty minute drive from Faro airport. Peaceful setting within walking distance from a few local restaurants and bars.
The Algarve region
Tavira area is one of the nicest laid back places to visit. 5 km south of Sto Estevao it is very easy to lose track of time strolling down the charming cobblestone streets with it's many restaurants, shops, bars and terraces to enjoy a refreshment in the sun. . The old palace is nearby and the beach of Ilha de Tavira is within a short boat ride. The nearest beach is Barrill in Santa Lucia, opposite Pedras del Rei, centrally located in the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve park.
The garden is on 2 levels with lawns and an array of flowers, almond, carob and olive trees. Pick your own fruit from the orchard including oranges, lemons, peaches, pomegranates and more depending on the time of year of your stay.
You are spoiled for choice in Tavira and Santa Luzia with ample restaurants and bars, whilst maintaining a quaint non commercial feel. Porch preto is a typical dish from the Alentejo region where the black pig is fed acorns to give a distinctive flavour. There is a wide choice of Portuguese wines to choose from too.
On the beach at Barrill you'll find a self service restaurant, hamburger house, pizzeria/creperia, bar, boutique and handicraft shop. If you don't like overcrowded beaches then these are the right beaches for you, especially Barrill with its 14km stretch of fine white sand and sand dunes. Walk 500 metres and you will find your own stretch of beach.
Other places to visit include the town of Faro if you want to browse the shops or local restaurants and bars or sit and watch the yachts on the marina.
Manta Rota beach, Praia Verde and Cabanas are just a short car ride away as is Castro Marim with its two castles. Tavira is only 40 minute drive from the Spanish border.
Sto Estavao is a small village with a quaint little church, a bar, a restaurant, pharmacy and supermarkets. It's very laid back and has several local festivals throughout the year. Surrounded by orange groves it is quiet and peaceful spoilt only by the sound of the crickets and many birds that frequent the countryside. We also have our own resident rabbits.

About the host
Hosted by Kerry Holt

My name is Kerry and together with my husband, Phil, we purchased a piece of land and built our own dream house in the Algarve. Both Phil and I are professional people. Phil has his own retail business and has been in business twenty years. Myself, I am an HR Director. We live on a farm on the outskirts of Manchester and have four children and five beautiful grandchildren.
We chose the Tavira area because our friend introduced us to it and suggested we had a look. After a short weekend in Tavira we fell in love with the area, the people, the way of life and of course the quaint town of Tavira. We loved the clean beaches and the Portuguese people and their love of food, good wines and more importantly family life.
Phil and I spend about four to six weeks a year in the Algarve, work permitting and so we can also advise of great restaurants and places to visit but we have made sure our house is one we will want to go and live in one day - its our home from home so if you decide this is for you for your holiday we are sure you will love it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property
Why this property? - Well we couldn't find a property that we liked in the right location and we wanted to be near Tavira. Santo Estevao is one of the most popular areas in the Eastern Algarve and so close to the town giving you a peaceful location and easy access to lots of fab restaurants etc. Once we decided we wanted to be there then there was little option for us but to design and build our own house in the way we wanted. Having the peace and quiet while also being able to walk to local amenities or reach a town easily was important to us for holidays and Santo Estevao was just right for us.
After looking at hundreds of websites and villas we finally settled on a design and were lucky enough to find just the right piece of land where we could build the house but also have a nice garden and pool and plenty of privacy

What makes this property unique
I particularly love the peace and quiet and listening to the sound of the crickets. We have rabbits and partridges and our own orchard of almonds and olives. I am also growing lemons, plums, peaches and various other fruit trees. It is rare to have this along with a sea view and also close to amenities.
The pool has all day sunshine as do our gardens and sunbathing areas but we also have plenty of shade for either resting or dining on the terrace with excellent views over to Tavira and the beaches
We are in a short ride from several long white sandy beaches, all award winning and great for adults or children
