Kentucky Straight Wilderness Cabin is a roomy 2200 sq ft chalet on Deer Water Lake in the Cliffview Resort area of Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Conveniently located, just minutes from Natural Bridge State Park, RRG Zipline, Gorge Underground, and some of the best hiking trails and rock-climbing routes in the region.

This stunning 3-story A-frame has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 14. Included are 2 primary suites each with a king-size bed and private bathroom with a walk-in shower. Upstairs you will find two more bedrooms that together contain 3 queen-size beds and 2 full-size beds (one lofted) plus a 3rd full bathroom with a walk-in shower. Two half-baths are also included on the first floor and basement making this well-maintained cabin the perfect accommodation for hosting wedding parties, family reunions, or week-end getaways with friends. If your group values comfort and convenience, you cannot do better than KSW Cabin!

Indoor amenities include a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, crockpot, blender and all cooking utensils. To add to your convenience, this modern cabin also has powerful high-speed internet, a USB charging station, two ROKU televisions with live streaming channels (YouTubeTV), a stone gas fireplace, a game room with an air hockey table, and a laundry room with a washer & dryer.

Outdoor amenities include a large deck perfect for outdoor dining, a metal-roofed wrap-around porch, gas grill, 6-person hot tub, and a large fire pit. Cornhole boards/bags are also available for your use.

The 5-acre Deer Water Lake sits 50 yards down the hill from the cabin and is walkable by private trail (somewhat steep) or easily drivable. There guests can swim, fish, float or just relax at water’s edge from our spacious private dock. 2 kayaks and paddles are provided, or bring your own canoe, kayak or paddleboard for non-motorized boating. Life vests are not provided so please bring your own.

Unlike many RRG cabins, KSW Cabin is easily accessed via flat paved roads and has a spacious parking area (enough for 9 vehicles). An AWD vehicle is not necessary to access KSW cabin, making it the perfect choice for any season.

SMOKING is not permitted inside Kentucky Straight Wilderness Cabin but is allowed outdoors on porches and decks.

NO PETS of any type are allowed inside Kentucky Straight Wilderness cabin. Violation of the no pets policy is grounds for immediate eviction.

NOTE: Bed linens, bathmats, hand towels, and kitchen towels are provided. One starter set of bath towels and washcloths is provided for each guest. We recommend that Guests bring their own extra washcloths, bath towels, and beach towels since we have no way of providing extra towels during your stay.

Note: Very secure location. Deer Water Lake is a gated community. Additionally, for your safety, KSW cabin utilizes security cameras covering the exterior entrances of the cabin and the parking area.

Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Bag all trash (including bathrooms) and place garbage bags in the large trash cans located in the trash shed to the right when you exit the cabin, across from the chained off driveway.
Only remove flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillowcases from any bed that was used and leave them in a pile in the bedroom. DO NOT REMOVE any mattress/pillow protectors. Leave any blankets on the beds.
Set both thermostats to 55 heat in winter and 80 cool in summer. Secure all windows that you have opened. Ensure that both doors on the downstairs patio and the door on the 1st floor deck are locked.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Firearms of any kind are prohibited inside Kentucky Straight Wilderness cabin. If you bring a firearm please keep it locked inside your vehicle.
All bed linens are provided along with dish towels, bathroom hand towels, bathmats and one starter set of bath towels and washcloths for each guest.
No pets of any type are allowed at Kentucky Straight Wilderness cabin. Violation of the no pets policy is grounds for immediate eviction.

This is the second time we have stayed at Kentucky Straight Wilderness and it is our favorite. We took friends with us and there was plenty of room for both our families plus some. The cabin is so peaceful and we plan to go back!

We came to Kentucky to experience the glass bottom cave tours and to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We wanted something close that two families could stay together. This place was perfect! Love the setup and all the bathrooms were a plus. Very well equipped and homey. Definitely would recommend this beautiful cabin.

The property was fantastic. Clean, private and spacious. Communication with the host was easy and the proximity to Deer Water Lake was very convenient. The property is also close to all of the attractions at Red River Gorge (Natural Bridge, Jumping Rock, etc...). Highly recommend.

House is as shown in pictures however the lake is further away than expected. The lake is small but we had toddlers and it was good for us. Would recommend using flashlights when going on outdoor path to hot tub and firepit as there is no light

Family get together

First time immediate family has been able to gather in a few years and we couldn't have chosen a better spot. All necessary amenities available, plenty of space and proximity to the lake and hiking. Great getaway cabin

This cabin was perfect for our family of 8. There was plenty of space for everyone. The cabin was very spacious inside and outside. The view was great. There’s even a trail down to the lake with a nice deck area. The host was great, when we had a few questions they got right back to us and were very helpful. We would definitely stay at this cabin again if we came back to this area. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Awesome Getaway Cabin!!

Wow- the cabin was super clean and comfy! We stayed 4 nights with our two boys ages 9 and 12. LOTS of space- The air hockey table and fishing dock were a hit! Of course I enjoyed the hot tub!! Communication with the owners was fabulous- we will definitely return with friends!! Thank you so much!

Beautiful cabin in the woods

Great for our annual vacation family gathering. My granddaughters learned to fish and the oldest now says she wants to fish on a more regular basis! The lake is so awesome. I actually swam with the catfish with my mask and snorkel. We made most of our meals on the terrific gas stove! Bonded around the campfire at night! Gazed at the stars and slept so well on the comfy beds. May plan another trip at this wonderful location in the gorge.

Breathtaking, quiet, clean, close to trails!

The next time I have a larger group to go to RRG we will be returning to this exact cabin. Everything went smooth; check in and check out process. The layout and modernness to the cabin was charming. There is so much space for the early morning coffee drinkers to spread out and enjoy the mornings. Only thing I wish was different, there weren’t any bath towels available with this property so very happy we brought towels ourselves. The amount of bathrooms is great! And the washer and dryer were a great plus. It was a delight and wonderful experience staying here and I will be back!

Maddy’s Bachelorette Weekend

There were 14 ladies ranging from 13-52 years old. There was plenty of room for everyone. Including bathrooms yes for that many females. It was a very welcoming, comfortable and homey environment.
