Lovely location

The location was just perfect, right on the beach. We cooked several meals and the kitchen amenities were good. The house itself is a bit tired and could use a little extra love these days.

Thank you for the 4 STAR review! Hurricaine in 2018 put me a year behind in improvements last off season. If you come this season it will be a guaranteed 5 STAR. I am doing Major Refurbishing this off season with New flooring, New kitchen counters, sinks & cabinets, New bathroom tubs, sinks & vanities, and minor repairs and aesthetic touches throughout: both inside and out. Will be ready March 7, 2020.

Thank you for the good review & helping us keep my place in excellent shape. I always have my, my maintenance guy & my cleaning people's phone numbers posted at the house. We ask all renters to let us know right away so we can fix things ASAP, if anything is noted to need it. The minor items were fixed during this renter's stay and prior to renters coming in on Saturday, our check out/check in day. Thank you for the good review. I am sure it would be a 5/5 if things didn't break while you were there.

Million Dollar View

You stay at this property for the oceanfront location and views from the house on both levels - gorgeous! The home holds a lot of people. while a duplex, there was very little noise transferred between the two sides and the shared walk and stairways were never an issue. The home is well appointed with lots of seating, beds, kitchen tools, etc. but they are quite used - at the time of our stay, this was a new rental listing and off season, so we wouldn't be surprised if this was improved. We would definitely stay again and look forward to our next trip.

Great Location

Loved the location of this home, beautiful views from both upper & lower decks. Was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of bath linens. Would consider staying here again, only negative we did not catch any fish all week....except for a shark and two blowfish 🐡

Amazing Family Vacation Home

We enjoyed staying here very much. The property was clean and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were spacious as well as the living area. The kitchen was a perfect size for making meals and the dining room table accommodated 8 adults. The location is beautiful. Our beach was semi private so we never had to fight a crowd. There was so much to do within walking distance or a short drive. I would highly recommend staying here and will be renting this house in the future.

Beach getaway

The beach house is in need of some repairs and one of the twin beds needs to be replaced. Internet speed was really slow making it difficult for my husband to work. But the location is awesome! The beach was quiet and clean and the neighborhood very family friendly and safe. We appreciated the beach chairs and umbrella! Overall, we had a great time! View from master bedroom is beautiful!

Great beach house for family and friends!

Great location! Stroll out the walkway from the living room and toes are in the sand. Owner and cleaning service were very accommodating. We were able to check in 2 hours early and also able to check out a little late. Very "beachy" feel to decor which is exactly what we hoped for. Clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Beds are very comfortable and the view from the master bedroom is unbeatable! Lots of extra bed and bath linens. Kitchen well stocked with everything we needed. 3 bathrooms a real plus. Would highly recommend for families or groups of friends. We had a great stay and will be at the top of our list for our next trip.

Falling apart

The location was great and owner was responsive but the house needs a lot of work. The upstairs toilet broke while we were there. The floorboards in the bathroom sag so much it feels like you could fall through the floor. Many of the kitchen items were rusty.

Some people seem to rate my place low no matter how many 5-STAR reviews we receive. The negative exaggeration in this review is remarkable. The bathroom floor upon him letting us know had a board next to the one of the tubs that sagged slightly and needed replacing. It was done the next week. Among dozens of utensils, there were three used on the outside grill which are often left outside in the salt air that were rusty and of course replaced. We replace many kitchen items several times a year and always before the season. The toilet was fixed immediately. The reviewer was absolutely correct in a couple of regards! The location IS GREAT, the best on Emerald Isle in my opinion. And my help and I are VERY responsive to make everyone’s stay the best possible. Bob Cosgrove

Just perfect view of ocean

The house was comfortable. It was as described. It did have about 15 steps to get into it but that was shown on the picture so it was not a surprise. The furniture was older but okay. The linens are professionally done and packaged nicely. We has plenty of them also. The beds were comfortable. The owner was available at all times. He is very pleasant. This is a duplex but we had family on both sides . The best thing was the walkway to the ocean. At the end of it was a covered gazebo and we could sit for hours without getting direct sun. The family enjoyed it. Stores were close by. We were very happy there. . Yes we would rent it again .

Family vacation

We enjoyed our stay at the beach. The house is in need of some TLC. The couch in the living room needs to be replaced. We bought a cover for it so we could sit on it. The dining room table needs to be refinished or replaced. We bought a table cloth for that. The grill needs to be replaced. Too small. Old. Needs to be available up on the deck so you're not covered in flies while cooking. And, it's obvious there was a leak in the roof at some point because the floor at the top of the stairs is soft. Everything in the kitchen cupboards was randomly put away. I had to organize them so I knew what I had to work with and not hunt thru cupboards every time. We had a great time hanging out with family and friends and the weather was beautiful!

And i will advise the cleaning team to organize the kitchen items properly. We heavily rely upon the renters to take care of the house like their own. Not suitable for number of people it sleeps

This property (East side) is right on the beach, which was not at all crowded, and does sleep 10 with the pull out couch, which is why it's so odd that nothing else is suited for that number of people. In the living room, there is only one comfortable couch, and the rest of the seating is dining room chairs, not exactly what you want for lounging. The kitchen is that of a studio apartment, seriously lacking counter space, basic items such as a griddle (forget making pancakes unless you want to cook one at a time in a skillet), sheet pans (not even one!), larger size pyrex (like a 9x13), and the fridge is small and leaks water inside so everything we had in the back had pools of water on top of it everyday. No icemaker but a bunch of different ice trays which were a bit precarious to stack. Not enough dishes, need at least a set of 12 of everything. So unless you plan on having cereal and frozen meals (not more than a few cause you have to half the freezer at least for ice trays and bowl of ice), this kitchen is a pain in the ass to cook in. The bed linens were fine, seemed newer and clean, nice dining table (seats 8), beds ok, hot tub nice to have (not salt water), and nice little outdoor shower area next to hot-tub. Each side has their own laundry room, but East side is trashed compared to other one, bring a basket cause you don't want your clean clothes touching anything in there...part of the ceiling had fallen in, looks like it hadn't been cleaned in 10 years. Bring your own tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, ziplock, spices, oils, kitchen dish scrubber, ours was used. There is a picnic table on deck, but no beach chairs. There is deck off master but no chair to sit out there, and that door leaks water when it rains. The main window in living room is fogged over, so bummer as it ruins the view, but beautiful view with amazing large window from master (only room with view). There are dressers in each room and a few games and puzzles in the TV cabinet in living area. The beach is amazing, found a ton of shells, nice locals, stores close by, and really nice and helpful handyman, also named Robert 😏, who helped us with vacuum that conked out 2nd day. I would not stay there again because of the seating and kitchen, but the area is wonderful.

I'm glad you found it wonderful! The East side was nearly entirely renovated over the winter with new walls, ceilings, flooring, painting, heating & air conditioning, shelves, cabinets, counter tops, and new kitchen appliances except the refrigerator, large sofa and a large island with additional counter space which were on back order when you stayed. Sorry for the inconvenience. Regarding the lack of kitchen & dinnerware, a renter prior to you rented both sides and things were moved to the West and not moved back by those renters who are asked to be courteous to people following and replace items so there is an equal amount on both sides. Apparently my cleaning crew did not notice the imbalance. There is more than enough to accommodate 16 people per side. I appreciate the recommendation for griddles and have purchased large ones for both sides. Glad you found it wonderful! With the final things taken care of I'm sure you would find doubly wonderful!

Perfect way to ring the New Years!

What a great time we had at Bob’s place! It has everything needed for cooking, food storage, dish washer and beds and linens and towels. Location close to grocery stores and restaurants. The hot tub was so appreciated after playing in the cold sea water! Wood floors made clean up easy! I brought my 2 under 10 year old sons and had no concerns about them around the house. Showers worked great, and the view of the master was a dream to wake up to. Definitely would stay here again and it is on my list as pet friendly places. Easy access to the beach and great deck with hose for getting cleaned up from the sand. Really loved my stay!

Great Location & Value

I loved our stay at Carolina Dream. It was the perfect location for me. Close enough to grocery stores for stocking up on bottled water and necessities (paper products, dishwasher tabs, etc) but far enough from the touristy areas/traffic. In a 45 min dog walk on the adjacent street, I'd see fewer than 10 cars drive by. Save for the neighbors this week having a friend with a Harley, I couldn't hear any traffic noise, or anything besides the ocean. The hot tub was a nice addition that I hadn't even noticed in the listing but was enjoyed by all. And of course, the reason for me after the past 1+ year of pandemic stress: the ocean. It's a beautiful view even from the main level deck, but a short walk out to the beach or when viewed from the master suite balcony, and the stress melts away. My only criticisms are more personal preferences: the lack of screens on windows and doors, and the mattresses. Since several of the days were low to mid 70s, I'd much rather turn off the HVAC units and open the slider or windows, but they didn't have screens to keep flies out. The mattresses are probably only an issue for those with bad backs; or who are used to foam or sleep # mattresses with uniform support. Innerspring mattresses users probably won't notice. All 3 adults had trouble with the innerspring mattresses. I didn't mention it to Robert as it's probably our own peculiarities. I'd recommend switching to foam mattresses when they're due for replacement, as it's usually easier to adjust to foam that has uniform support than it is back to an innerspring's pressure points. For real issues, please call Robert. I got the sense he preferred calls vs texts, as he would respond right away to a call. We had some trouble with the slider leaving a gap and Robert was very quick to respond despite being in the middle of a wedding. He had people look at it the next morning. Overall, you really can't beat the combination of value and location, and the flexibility to bring dogs. I searched SE coast for beachfront properties from NC to FL, and there weren't many at all that allowed >1 dog, and those that did were either 2-3x more or not nearly as nice or had poor ratings. Thanks to Robert for allowing us to bring all our family (including the 4 legged members) and not charging exorbitant fees like some others. I definitely want to return ASAP, but looks like it will be next year based on demand.
