NEW! The Beauregard: Charming Victorian Home in Historic Ferndale (Tax Incl!)

The Beauregard is a charming Victorian home in historic Ferndale, the Victorian village in Humboldt county, California. This lovely 2 bedroom, 1 bath home, built in 1893, is immaculate and comfortably furnished with antiques and reproductions and period-inspired, ceiling to floor window coverings. There is free private off-street parking for 2 cars in front of the house. Also outside: a lovely camellia and rose garden in the front; backyard with patio, table, 4 chairs with umbrella, built-in grill, water fountain and landscaped lawns with flowers and other varied foliage. Inside: our guest first encounters the beautifully furnished and cozy living /sitting room, which has hardwood floors with rugs, gas fireplace, a coffee table with the Beauregard guest book, sofas with soft pillows and throws, walk in closet and Roku TV. There are 2 bedrooms; one has a queen bed and Roku TV, walk in closet, and a video library of Hollywood movies that were filmed in Ferndale. The second bedroom has a double bed and walk in closet. Both beds are made up with 100% cotton sateen sheets, and both bedrooms have 2 side tables with stained glass lamps and windows with beautiful window coverings. The bathroom has a tub/shower with sliding mirrored doors for privacy, and features luxury (fluffy) white towels, acai/orchid body wash, Nexxus hair products and an ionic hair dryer. Provided on the bathroom counters are make-up remover, q-tips, cotton rounds, facial wash, and Hempz body lotion. The mirrored medicine cabinet holds first aid supplies. The kitchen has original painted antique cabinets which are filled with everything you need to cook cozy meals, including basic spices, cooking spray, and wine and champagne glasses. There is also a Keurig "K-cafe" machine, which allows guests to make regular coffee or experiment making their own lattes or cappuccinos. A variety of black and herbal teas and coffee pods, chai mix, almond, soy and coconut milks, sugar, splenda and non-dairy creamer are also provided. Inside the refrigerator our guests will find reduced fat milk for the coffees and teas, and refreshing fruit-essenced sparking waters and Crystal Geyser mineral water. The dining area is off the kitchen and next to windows with a lovely view of the side yard foliage, including junipers, ferns and a large Japanese maple. A laundry room is in the back of the house, has a washer and dryer and laundry products, and also a wall of windows, which during spring, summer and fall can heat the entire house. One of the best Short Term Rentals we've stayed at!
We really enjoyed our stay at Beauregard! The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. We stayed over Thanksgiving Holiday. The oven was small, but adequate, to cook a small ham. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the ambiance of the fireplace in the living room. We used all of the appliances and they all worked great. We even enjoyed some appetizers in the back yard. Don't miss the No Brand Burger Stand next door. YUM!

Victorian Charm
Starts with the owner who is lovely. Then entering this charming, more than we ever expected, little Victorian dream house. Spotless & welcoming, beautiful furnishings, and complete comfort. Everything you could want or need is graciously provided. The town, the people, the “giants”, what a fantastic getaway! Thank you Jean!

Hello all! Welcome to the Beauregard. I have only recently acquired this stunning property. I was very fortunate to purchase it furnished with almost all the antiques and reproductions and have only made a few minor additions. Even the name of this
wonderful Victorian, "the Beauregard" is the same ("Beauregard" is actually named after a beloved teddy bear the previous owners cherished, which I also inherited. A portrait of this bear is reproduced on the flag that still waves at the front of the house, and he can be seen "in person" inside, within the antique curio cabinet in the sitting room.) Needless to say, I could not imagine changing the name of this beautiful home! . . . I live locally in Fortuna, only about 8 miles from the Beauregard. I discovered this house in 2019 and fell in love with it. If you love old homes, antiques and reproductions and/or teddy bears, I think you will too!

Why they chose this property

I used to own a lovely Queen Anne Victorian in San Francisco, Bernal Heights neighborhood, that was built around 1900. I loved it, but my husband and I wanted to move out of the city. When we moved to Fortuna in Humboldt county, we chose a newer home, partly because we didn't want to bother with the maintenance issues involved with an antique house anymore. Until about 4 years later, when I saw the Beauregard. The former owners are a husband (contractor)-wife (carpenter) team, who did a great deal of work on this very old home, and it shows. Central heating, all copper plumbing and cement siding in a Victorian? Amazing. Gorgeous refinished hardwood floors, gas fireplace, beautifully furnished with antiques and reproductions. And the grounds also so lovingly maintained. Yes, I fell in love. I hope you like the Beauregard too!

What makes this property unique

The Beauregard is a Victorian home in the Victorian village of Ferndale. It is only about 0.6 miles from downtown Ferndale. This home is located at the edge of town, close to miles of farm land and dairies, yet is just 6 scenic miles from Centerville beach. It has something for everyone: a quiet getaway, or a home base for days of antiquing or scenic car trips through beautiful coastlines and redwood groves.
