The Rockland is a very cozy nice town. We enjoyed our stay at this house. The owner was reachable by phone. The cute little grocery behind the house is fantastic!!

The house itself was cute and charming but there was no AC and it was extrememly hot while we were there. We left a night early because of the heat we couldnt sleep. Also the shower is not ideal and went to a hotel hours away since the tub wouldnt drain and the shower was hand held.

Good spot for our 'base' camp
We wanted a quiet spot to explore the SW Kewanaw and Porcupine Mountains.
This fit the bill. Nice heat and not drafty
Only wish the place had been cleaned after the previous guests. Beds had slept in sheets, trash in cans, unwashed towels etc in hamper
We had a great stay at this Rockland home. Such a sweet, quaint area an but still close to what we were looking for. The home was comfortable and met our needs well, and we enjoyed the antique feel of the amenities.
Our stay overall was good. A few issues after getting there:
- Lockbox was very hard to find in the dark as it was located on a porch pillar under a big bush. There was no T-Mobile cell service in the town so I had to borrow my friends phone with AT&T service to contact the homeowner. Luckily the general store owner saw us from her house parked with the lights on. She came over and helped us get in with a spare key that she had.
- A/C was a listed ammenity but, there was only one window unit in one bedroom. The whole house did not have A/C. This should be pointed out so Summer residents know what they're dealing with.
- Bathroom: the sink was stained from the well water and should be cleaned or replaced and the shower is only a handheld type since the bathtub was an older claw foot iron tub. Very traditional since the house was old but again, it should be listed accurately so residents know what to expect
- Without A/C in the whole house, the place was extremely humid after a couple of showers.
- Minor detail but, there was no driveway. We were told to park on the grass in front of the garage.
- The rest of the place was as advertised so the home was enjoyable outside of the issues listed above. A lot of character since it was an older construction.
This home is adequately furnished, clean and has a charming historic feel to it. There is plenty of room for a family or small group. The location is convenient to the lake, hiking and other outdoor adventures. Don't forget to stop in at the Rockland General Store and Henry's (never) Inn for a great experience! Communication with the host is excellent and immediate!
We enjoyed the spacious home for two nights. We liked the close proximity to the general store and the relaxing ambiance of the park next door. The general store proprietor was extremely helpful. My husband left his wedding ring and the cleaning lady and the store are making arrangements to hold it and return it to me.

Very clean and properly previewed in description.
An older place, but adequate for our needs - a place to sleep. Lots of room. Would stay there again, clean and comfortable,
Home was very clean and warm. A couple personal preferences of our group would have been a shower vs a tub and bed springs that don’t squeak. Easier to get folks through in a short period. Overall nice home with a lot of room. Thank you for allowing us to stay!
Also for the owner the toilet water runs continuously into bowl. Should be looked at as it will increase water bill over time.
This place was perfect for our needs, with plenty of space. Cute and cozy, lots of character too. Kids thought it was super cool, they loved all the games, legos and activities. I love the little things- when there are plenty of fans, night lights, etc. Makes it easy to travel with kids. Very responsive and polite owners! The listing does say 2 bathrooms, but we knew from the pictures and detailed description that there was only 1 (no shower), but it worked fine for us. We would definitely recommend! Hoping to stay again sometime.
We rented this house during move in weekend for Michigan Tech. We drove eight hours to move our son into the dorms and needed a home base for the process. The house has tons of character and little peeks of charm. It is only an hour from Houghton, and central to many of the natural beauties of the Western Upper Peninsula. The neighbors are friendly and helpful, especially Nina, the owner of the General Store next door. Thanks for an amazing home base for the weekend—we will be back!
Adorable home- perfect home base for western UP adventuring!
From booking to checking in to enjoying our stay to the communication with the property owner this home was 5 stars all around! The house is even more spacious in person! Would love to go back someday!
We were looking for a quiet place for a vacation away from all the traffic and crowding found in some places. This place was awesome. The town had a great playground for the kids. The Rockland Depot is a great little store. Found many activities to do in the surrounding areas.
Great house! Lots of space. Well stocked with basic supplies. Great location for lots of amazing day trips in the area. Nice quiet neighbourhood - great for morning walks/runs. Next door to a very cool country store.
We had a very relaxing stay away from it all...The renters were easy to communicate with and friendly.
All appliances in kitchen worked and there was few restaurants in Ontanagon.
The vintage bathtub was cute.
This house really reminded me of my Summers in village with my grandma.
Lots of things to explore nearby...but get a detailed map or internet as we were lost in the middle of nowhere on a rocky snowmobile trail..thinking it was our road.
Beautiful home with lots of family history. My family would stay here again
This home is one of the nicest homes we have stayed in.We got in late and had to contact owner we sent Dave over and opened the house right up.The house was fully stocked with everything but your toothbrush and clothes..We had a wonderful experience would stay again.
