Our stay was perfect! The home and surroundings were stunning and serene. Located in a very tiny village, it gave us a feeling of security and peacefulness. (We are two 77 year old ladies, friends since we were 10). The home was better equipped than most personal homes……there was nothing we could not find! Plenty of linens, great beds, charming decor. Many town and sights within a hour’s drive. Carcassone, Albi, Mirepoix, Lautrec. Exceptional stay. The hostess Maryse and her husband couldn’t have been more helpful and delightful! Thank you.
The property is very clean and well stocked with everything we needed inside. This would be a lovely house for the winter months as there's a large fireplace and comfortable sofa in the living room; it would be perfect for Christmas or autumn. The location is very peaceful, with a view of forested hills immediately in front. Very little traffic, and not overlooked. The location is a short walk from a VERY quiet village (all shuttered up most of the time), but there is an excellent restaurant open a few days per week. The big thing lacking was any comfortable outdoor seating, just uncomfortable metal chairs and table on the patio. I had specifically asked whether any loungers were available and was told yes, but unfortunately there were just a few deckchairs. At this price point all of the other many properties we've visited have comfortable outdoor sofas, usually under shade, or padded loungers for sunbathing. Just a warning to anyone who would like to get comfortable outside the property.
The old mill was a perfect destination for our family reunion. It is an exceptional property, fully renovated and exquisitely decorated, minutes away the medieval towns of Sorèze and Revel. The house is orientated to the South, flooding the rooms with light during the day. It is significantly larger than it appears on VRBO pictures. We particularly appreciated the comfort of the perfectly appointed bedrooms with high quality beddings, the large kitchen and family/dining room that enabled us to cook and entertain, the separate library/TV room for quiet moments, and an eclectic collection of books all around the house. The house has picturesque surroundings including a stream (“Le Sor”), a stone bridge, woods, and a large field for outside activities and walks. Maryse was a terrific host. She was very responsive and provided us with excellent recommendations for all the local delies. Must-see nearby attractions include the museum of Dom Robert in Sorèze, the belfry of Revel, and the bassin of Saint-Ferréol supplying the Canal du Midi.

We had the most wonderful stay in Durfort. Jean and Maryse are excellent hosts and presented the house beautifully. They provided everything you would need with thoughtful touches. The home is beautifully decorated and the beds are extremely comfortable. The most special part of this home is it’s setting. It is in a valley just 200 meters from the artisan village of Durfort. There is a river running through the garden which is magical and provided the setting for some memorable lunches. We will definitely be back.
